- It’s a cold, rainy start to this trip. I’m looking forward to finally getting to southern New Mexico… perhaps I’ll feel the sun on my skin then. Oh! And stray from this interstate.
Song: Rider in the Rain by Victoria Bailey
Nice video! I’m glad you decided to make a video about this part of your trip. Trudging down the interstate through cold and rain is as much a part of motorcycling as riding gorgeous backroads on sunny days - it’s just another flavor of adventure. 🍻
“Just another flavour of adventure”- I love that!
Always a great day when Laura Posts. Glad you included this video in the series. Hopefully you were able to warm up
Thank you!! I really appreciate it :)
Laura, thank you for posting this video. Any time you are on your Sportster I hope you post about it! 😀
Thank you!! I really appreciate that. ☺️
I’ve spent many days waiting for weather to improve. The worst is if it catches you in a campsite! Answering another poster’s question, I always lose weight on a long ride. I’m not comfortable on the bike with a full belly. We generally eat one decent meal in the evening and nibble during the day. Used to live in Tulsa, the vid brought back pleasant memories. Thanks! Ride safe.
I couldn’t have said it better myself about the discomfort of a full belly! Perfectly put. Thank you for your comment! Ride safe 😃
I've LIKED and SUBSCRIBED to your channel. I really enjoy it. Since I'm retired and live in the Puget Sound of Washington state, now every summer or fall I go home to NE Oklahoma. Since my wife is coming with me again this September we'll take her Maverick Hybrid. In 2025 I'll take my 2016 Spyder F3 LSS for the first time. I'm looking forward to it 🙂. Ride safe and I look forward to your next episode. Now, I've got to get caught up with your past posts!
Thanks for tuning in! Ride safe 🤠
That was a Great provisions Haul! Pushing on that mirror to use it must have been a pain too.. looking forward to the next installment 😊
My thumb has never been stronger 😅
You're a smart rider. Love this video & I'm glad you shared Laura
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you ☺️
Wize and smarter is always good. Always another great"Laura Post". I'm still waiting to get Wizer and Smarter, their always seemed somthing new to learn. Have another good one and get warmed up.😊
Wow, Thank you!! 😃🥶
When you’re cold, It’s tough to warm up when you’re driving at highway speeds. You made a good choice getting a warm room, a hot meal, and a good sleep. Take care of yourself, be safe.
Thank you!! It’s difficult not feeling a bit guilty about it though. 😅
Great vid , stay warm lol enjoy
Thank you! 🥶
Just discovered you , your videos, music , AWESOME STUFF!
Welcome aboard! Thank you!😊
Another great vid! Well done young lady!
Thank you kindly!
This was probably the day you were questioning the trip...LOL. Cold, wet riding and not the kind of views you want to see. Glad you included this content though. It does two things....shows that it ist always peaches and cream on a bike...LOL...AND shows how you can push thru. Congrats. Enjoying the series!
Hahaha! You bet it was! Thank you for your comment. 😊
Thanks for playing it safe! Great vid. A little JB Weld (steel stick) helps with things like that mirror when out on the road.
Thank you! JB weld, eh? Noted!!
Shopping at the continental breakfast ? I laughed my butt off over that statement, no truer words spoken. Ride safe subscribed.
😂
Thanks for subscribing! Glad to bring you along on my adventures 😄
Open-face helmet and very cold temperatures...you are a tough cookie.
🥶 Thank you!
Love your videos. That looks like my skid lid, aka helmet be safe and enjoy the ride 🍻
Skid lid, I haven’t heard that one before 🤣 Ride safe!
A great post on the reality of riding in March 😮🥶 You never forget these rides
No doubt!
I don’t blame you for getting out of the cold while riding a motorcycle because I know what it is like. Like you, I left too early in the year and after riding 11 hours non stop except for fuel stops I had to pry myself off of the bike, my knees were frozen in place.
I was so cold I couldn’t sign my name at the hotel desk!
They told me to go up to my room, take a hot shower and get something hot to eat in the hotel dining room first. No more early in the year bike trips for me!
I now leave between late June and September. Smart choice Laura, we all learn from experience and the school of hard knocks!
BTW, those hotel prices are off the charts for just a nights sleep!
KOA campgrounds have cabins for about $125 to $150 depending on the location and state and they are EVERYWHERE! Tent camping about $35 to $45 all with showers, bbq grills, fire pits, store on site and pools in some camp sites. You should look into it on your next road trip in America or Canada. Hope all is well with you.
Thank you for sharing that. I really enjoyed this trip but you’re right- I learned a lesson- don’t leave so early.
It wasn’t my initial plan. I hoped to leave for this trip in mid April but I received an email from work that indicated that my contract started on April 3rd this year- 3 weeks earlier than usual. I had to choose between cancelling this trip or enduring the cold.
The real kicker is that on my 3rd or 4th day of the trip, I received an email from work informing me that due to funding issues, my contract would return to its usual end-of-April start day. AND… I received the email just after pulling over on the highway to try and warm my bitterly cold hands on the engine. I sure felt like punching the air!! 😂
If I can swing it, I have a trip planned for July in a remote area of Canada. I’m excited to not have to wear 9 layers!
Ride safe, and thank you for your comment! Perhaps my graduation picture from the School of Hard Knocks is down the same hall as yours. 🥴
@@lauradanielle1991 You can’t miss my picture on the wall of hard knocks Laura ,
I’m the one with hair in the shape of a helmet, frost on my forehead and my jacket splattered with a large variety of bugs and a far away look of where am I going next look in my eyes 👀 Take care road warrior! Ride safe!
Loving your ride I would recommend a heated jacket liner. Worth it
I learned my lesson the hard way 🥶. I’ll be looking into heated gear soon! Thank you for the tip!
You are getting better and better with editing! Love it!
Thank you so much!!😊
Sweet! Great vid. Ha; my right mirror is the same, Blue locktight I'm told.
Thank you! I’ll remember the locktight suggestion 😃
@@lauradanielle1991 Hey ya las! If you ever ride up Beaver Valley way, give a shout! I live up there. We could ride up the Bruce Peninsula.
Wise move to not push thru. Timely vid for me, I just rode 5 hours @2-3C and decided to hotel it and do the next 5 hours in the sunshine. Always post the not-so-good days along with the really fine ones.
Wow, good on you! I hope you were able to warm up quickly in a hot shower. Warm and sunny days are on our horizons! Ride safe. :)
I got chilled just watching your video. Been there and done that many times, but for some reason, those are times that are so memorable. I remember a trip many years ago when we stopped by a wayside rest that had heated hand dryers in the bathroom. We stayed there quiet awhile running those dryers.
Wow, I can only imagine. You must have been so grateful for those hand dryers! Years ago I used to stop at truck stops to have a hot shower or 2 on a ride. I quickly learned that the warmth from them was so short lived it wasn’t worth it.
Hi Laura another enjoyable video Thank you Yes ridin in the cold is no fun for sure especially when you cant get warm You did the right thing to stop refuel rest & start fresh the next day take your time enjoy every mile & your experience Always be safe Take care out there 😎😎
Thank you! You too!
If the road and conditions permit, to get warm, push the bike for a few minutes -15 to 20 usually helps to get the chill off.
😅 Good idea….
Enjoyed the video, I don't mind riding in the rain if i get stuck in it. But, i hate starting out when it's raining
That’s a really good way to put it- I’ve never really thought of it like that before- I’d have to agree with you!
enjoyed this video. I can understand the feeling chilled to the bone. Stay safe, enjoy the ride. Peace Connecticut USA
Thank you!!
I have a heated jacket liner and gloves - plugs into the bike so no charging. It would be well worth it if you’re riding a lot that time of year. Even better since you’re up north.
I need to get my hands on one of those!
🤩🤩🤩🤩🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺

Hello......I'm vey surprise with you travel bag. I had a small trip on the beach for 2 day. Only the essential stuff and camera spend a lot of space for the bags...jjijii
That sounds like an awesome trip! My bag looks huge but it’s just got my 2 man tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, a couple extra clothes, a small stove, coffee press and a bag of food. It turns out I didn’t use my camping gear at all so I could have brought a smaller pack. 😅
Hi Laura did you try stuffing yourself with newspaper like Worzel Gummidge 😅 always helps me keep torso and legs a bit warmer when temperatures get that low, just semi frozen rather than a complete ice cube...
I completely forgot!! I really want to try that out. Thank you for the reminder!!
get an electric under coat with an adjustable thermostat. I rode from Great Falls in a pouring wet snow mix on the 200 back to yelm wa. on the 90. at 47 to 38 degrees. stayed toasty.
Woah, that’s wild! Either the undercoat coat is awesome or you’re tough as nails. Perhaps it’s a bit of both!
I know you had to do it this time of year but if you're able to do it later in the year , you'll enjoy comfortable temps. Mid-May and later.
I learned my lesson the hard way! My next venture into the south, I’ll plan it for at least late April. 🤠
5:02 - ...by morning, like George Strait?
I had to ask Google what the conversion is. I've ridden in 37° Fahrenheit and in the high and low 20s, but I was layered up and near my place, as well. If you don't have a plan, on how or where to get warm, I get not wanting to ride in it, away from home.
🎶 Up from San Antone 🎶
nothin wrong with calling it quits when you are cold and wet.....better to be safe and try the next day......i didn't realize how loaded down you are! wow......
My bag looks huge, but I assure you I don’t have everything but the kitchen sink in there, haha! Aside from a few extra clothes, it’s loaded with a bag of continental hotel food (🥴), sleeping mat, tent, sleeping bag, tarp, a few maps, water and my drone.
@@lauradanielle1991 I had to laugh when you showed your shopping from the Continental breakfast 🤣

Hello Laura, It's is obvious that you are no mere fair weather rider. Wise decision to alter your itinerary, older and wiser indeed. Yet again your music selection was perfect.
Thank you!!
So sorry such cold and wet weather met you on your ride. Judging by the intro, it does eventually warm up... Death Valley is known for that. As always though, love your posts.
Thankfully it does end up warming up a bit! Thank you for your comment!
I like your post very much but I was wondering if when you go on your trips to the USA, do you lose weight? The reason that I'm asking is that the only things that you mainly eat are snacks. 😁
I always tell people that my most successful diet is going on a bike trip 😆. I do loose a bit of weight- I think this particular trip I lost 12 lbs.
My buddies would revoke my Man Card if they ever caught me riding a Sportster lol Total girl bike with zero power way too gay for a man to ride lol
Sportster or not Laura Danielle probably has more GRIT that you and your buddies combined
@@RicoAero-dd3ji Say you are gay without saying you are gay lol
@@TacitusR Barger was and still is...a goof and so are many of the HA drugged up criminals. Used to be HA were bikers who also sold drugs. Now they are druggies who sell drugs and also ride bikes. Big difference lol Tell me you ae gay so I know my gut feelings are correct please twinkle toes tell me lol
And you are here for what reason?@@DeeDeevanGogh
@@toslow9045 None of your bizz mate lol Just leaving a factual comment is all so F. O. lol
Not sure how much it is. I know that the KOA rv. Park rent cabin possibly cheaper than a hotel.
Good to know! I’ll remember that. Thank you :)
Take your time, Laura, still with you !
Sun will shine ahead, in front of you !
Thank you so much! ☀️
