Erik Bosgraaf has won international acclaim for his Brilliant Classics recordings of music from Jakob van Eyck (Der Fluyten Lust Hof, BC93391) to Pierre Boulez (Dialogues, BC94842). His discography includes no fewer than three previous albums dedicated to Georg Philipp Telemann, the composer who more than any other in the German Baroque elevated the recorder and its relatives to the status of a high-art instrument, capable of hitherto undreamt expressive range and technical refinement.
This recording contains the double concertos with recorder: for two recorders or in combination with traverso, bassoon or viola da gamba. Telemann himself was a professional recorder player. These concertos contain some of his most personal music, his usual brilliance, wit and virtuosity alternate with passages of deep emotion and melancholy.
Erik Bosgraaf is one of the most remarkable recorder players of today. Equally at home in early as well as contemporary music he extends the limits of his instrument, achieving an extreme range of expression and unheard-of effects.

Telemann, what a great artist, supposedly the most prolific one, more than Bach, mozart,ecc. But less known...
The first concerto was scored for also and flute in e-minor. The flute part is playable on alto by partially covering the bottom on the couple of places where it goes a half step below the normal range of the alto. I prefer the hiring the different timbres of flute and recorder. Telemann did travel around a bit out o Germany. I wonder where he picked up the idea for the Presto in the first concerto. I love the percussive drone from the bass. The were the soloists?
The traverso part of the concert in e-minor might be played on a tenor recorder easily. From the presto I have heard many performances. The Bremer Barock orchestra has a nice one with some funny effects in the last refrain. However in this sequence of concerts the concert with the bassoon in F major has some funny things with tempo in the final part.
Telemann and recorders are friends, of course ! Recorder players like hims a lot!
Es espantosa la tapa , jajajaj al menos para esta música, para este estilo....para ese siglo. Otro oyente aquí presente comenta sobre el parecido a cierta portada de Pink Floyd. Opino lo mismo, siendo yo mismo parte del público de esa banda creo que se aproxima más a su estética. Pero es ESPANTOSA. jajajajja Me genera una cierta repugnancia. Pocas veces tuve esa sensación, ahora mismo la dejé fuera de mi campo visual. jajajaj Que bien suena esta música, sin embargo. Escuché estas obras en otras versiones, estas versiones también me gustan. Toco habitualmente, casi todos los días música de Telemann. Hay obras muy difíciles, hay otras intermedias, y unas cuantas como para mi. Hagan la prueba. Toquen el instrumento que toquen. Hagan música eterna pero no miren esas orejas. jajajajajaj.
