Hello Woodruff's, as a Clint Eastwood movie line noted ''a man has to know his limitations'' , this tree pushed yours and you were smart enough to know it was a bit above your comfort level, that is GOOD, I can think of 2 times I should have been this smart. I was sweating bullets the entire time.
I think knowing one's limitations is a sign of skill. I knew there was no good way to fell this tree with the base so rotted. I have sweat those bullets a few times myself and it isn't fun.
That is so true. Jake takes his job seriously and really has built a company with a great reputation. By the way, I am anxious to see how you make out with your IBC tote alternative. Innovative idea!
Hey Darrin , those guys are really good with taking down that tree . When you were bucking up the cherry tree , there was a JD garden tractor with a snow blade on it . I wish you would show that machine in a video . That thing looks so cool !!!!
There is a story with that machine. Last March one of my good friends passed away and his nephew bought his home. The nephew asked me if I wanted this machine. His uncle and I restored it 25 years ago. It is in really bad shape now and there are many missing components, so it is a project on my list. I bought it out of sentimental value and not good judgement.
I haven't experienced that ride but I have to say that Jake did a great job with this tree. I was shocked to find that it was hollow far up into the tree.
@@Living-The-Dream not sure that they lead in larger saws. Outside of the 500i they don’t beat Husqvarna. They are clearly the number 1 competitor but all that competition keeps both companies working for better saws which benefits the consumer.
@@woodruffwoods we should find out…..I would venture to say they do more often then not, when of comparable CC’s….but everyone is entitled to their opinion. Till tested😁
@@Living-The-Dream I am game! The funny thing is that both companies don’t match displacements which is huge. I have run the 572 vs a 461 out of the box and you will be very disappointed. There is a reason there are more aftermarket improvements for a Stihl….they need them to keep up 😂
Because I take my own trees down for much of my firewood, I use my top handle saw as much if not more than any other saw. They are so handy and offer less fatigue. Unfortunately, the pond is being built while I am working so I am not getting a ton of footage. I will definitely have something coming but not what I had envisioned.
@@oldguyfirewood I have the Husky T435 which is okay. The 540 is better. However, I think in the small saws is where Stihl really shines. That MS201 is a little screamer.
Good advice.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video!
Thanks for the business! 🪓🌳
Glad you liked it and appreciate that you were able to help me out on a tight timeline
Another arborist named Jake!!! Like watching these guys work!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
I do too! If I were younger, I would learn to climb.
Hello Darin. Good call on letting the professionals do that tree. Way to unpredictable! A good weekend woodhound knows his limits. 👍🏻👍🏻
Given where this one was, I had to make the right call and get a climber in.

Smart man Darrin, letting a pro do the dirty work!
I just knew that this one could be problematic if things didn’t go perfectly:
Always amazing how people that are good at what they do make it look so easy! Looking forward to the pond build
Take care,
Brandon

Great video! 👍 Waiting to see the pond build.
I hope to have a video out on this in the near future. Unfortunately my real job is keeping me from getting a ton of footage of the machines at work.
Real good video Darrin. Jake knows his stuff. Definitely worth having him there for this job. Looking forward to the pond job.
Kenny
A man must know his limitations. There was just too much risk in trying a precision felling on a hollow tree.
Great good on the pros helping you out. Can’t wait to see the pond when it’s done. It was nice to see a good saw on the channel too! Ha ha
Hopefully I can upload something tonight
Looks like what I do everyday! And he has the same name!! 😂
When I was editing, I thought of you. LOL.
Now the clean up begins remember you need to have a open pond party when you get it done.
That is a great idea! The dozer operator pushed all that stuff over to the side and then I had a mess to clean up.
👍👍
Thanks for watching and commenting.

Arborist work is quite the skill, looks like he did a great job!
Couldn't agree more! If I were a younger man, I would learn to climb.
Your tree guy did an awesome job! Surprised you let him in your videos with that name brand of Saw🤣
I am the first to admit that Stihl shines with the small saws.
@@woodruffwoods yes they do !
Very nice it’s always a fun ride when ya cut the top off definitely better than any ride at the local fair

He did a real nice Stihl job there Darrin 😏 Having a pond back there will be really nice 👍 Nice rounds with the Husky Darrin 🪵🪵🪵⛓🪚👍👏🇺🇸 Rick
Those top handle Stihl saws are the best on the market. I think that Stihl shines on those small saws.
@@woodruffwoods they shine in the 70’s cc area also😁 it seems as if Echo is making a dent in the small cc market too IMHO 👍

Amazing how much of that removal was done with a top handle saw. It was definitely sharp! I’m looking forward to your pond build.

@@woodruffwoods I have never owned a top handle saw. I think I need to change that 🙂. What saw would you recommend Darrin?

Sometimes you are best off to use a professional.
I totally agree. I don’t need to drop a tree on the house. Lovely Lisa would not like that!
