Freeze the wear ring and bearings and get the whole housing up to about 200f. You'll gain a couple thou to help prevent damage. Especially to the bearings
Hey man I need some help. I put in a new pump seal because it was not taking off and making the loud reving sound when taking off. I replaced it and it is still doing the same thing. Do u have any idea what else it could be.
My 2008 stx15f has a hot start issue only while in the water, not while on the hose, the jet pump has corrosion which has worn the impeller, would this affect my hot start issue?
Google “STX-15F heat soak” It’s actually pretty common and has to do with the overheat sensors on the exhaust and oil pan reading inaccurate temperatures when the water drains out of the exhaust after riding causing it to read higher temps than are actually present. I believe the fix was to add a resistor on a switch
question . is a 6t press good enough for pump bearings . i’m doing my yamaha 760 but don’t want to buy a cheap press for nothing. i’ve seen it used for wheel hubs
@@SEsGarage kurt is correct, so many people think there is no wear ring at all. Smart to coat the outside, I was thinking the same thing, and also why would they not do that at the factory? Been making them like this for 20 years...

I am struggling with the wear ring replacement. I've added a chamfer and filed the weld seam Smooth. About to try freezing the ring. Any other tips?

How do you get the stainless wear ring out?
