That cavalry charge was amazing, the theme music gave me chills, it is like reliving my adolescence. I love your videos on here! Keep them coming please!
Yeah, it never made sense to me for the elves being at Helm's Deep in the movie. I would have loved it if they arrived at the Black Gate instead, where men and elves unite and fight the last battle at the doorstep of Mordor, a callback to the Last Alliance thousands of years ago. In fact, I wish the Back Gate battle in the book had not just men, but a small union of Free People's (Men, Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits, Ents and Eagles) fighting as one last beacon of hope against the massive armies of Sauron. The movie Helm's Deep Battle should have just been a fight for the fate of Rohan, and Rohan alone, with a few Fellowship friends, could win the day. It would have made the fight all the more worrisome and hopeless for Rohan at times, all the more hopeful and the need to win at others, and all the more relief and excitement when Gandalf and Eomer show up.
I actually agree... I think I'd have changed the setup to Helm's Deep a little bit, and then only replaced the Elves with Erkenbrand's men (obviously this is still a bit different from the book, but think it would translate effectively. The three changes I'd make would be : 1. Introduce Erkenbrand as a character, have him return with his infantry from the Fords of Isen, with Theodred's body - pretty similar situation to film, just a tiny bit extra. (If not this, have some dialog explaining that Erkenbrand's forces had been defeated, and were taking relief at Helm's Deep. Theoden would bring his own force to meet up with Erkenbrand.) 2. Have Theoden bring just his army to Helm's Deep, rather than the entire city of Edoras. Use some dialog to explain why Helm's Deep is important, and why Saruman's host would want to attack it. Bash. Who knows though, I think the elves are cool either way, helm's Deep is my favourite battle ever put to screen
The amount of time and effort that was put to make this mod is Oscar worthy. Kudos for the modders, and of course congrats to you Apollo as well! The only small detail i would add is some lord of the rings theme music on the background :)
seems to me like the pikes won the battle. their ability to push through chokepoints and hold off the rear cavalry took away a lot of the advantages and options the defenders would have otherwise had. perhaps more rules to limit them in number, i remember rome 2 comunities often had limits of 2 phalanx max per army or something similar.
I got this mod yesterday and first thing I did was look at the cities and castles and they have absolutely smashed it with the designs so far, props to the developers of the mod. Can’t wait to see if a campaign can be made, it would be insane
This game is about the graphics, because games usually have limited amount of units depending on computer resources - allocated memory. Like not more than 200 units, but how much more you need in your municipality kingdom if can't make as much as you fit into your houses. This is that F control for reaching your star citizen comms 6:23 - might not be perfect until next release. This might be landing gear 7:30, but in the inventors drawing. At a very basic - it's Ice crown citadel.
Going to be that dork. Wasn’t the light during Gandalfs charge the sun rising? Whole at dawn look to the east? Either way, loved the video. Been watching you for nearly a decade now. Never bored. Thanks for all the videos over the years!
@Pixelated Apollo; Farmir is made Prince of Ithilien by Aragon. He'd technically still be the Steward of Gondor when the king was away. He marries Eowyn.
pretty sure that Isangard had at least one ballista in movie version, but cool battle anyway. And Gandalf with rohirrim arrived at the dawn so daylight is fine :)
Yes - BFME2! Use your own catapults to kill your units down to one man; fill your army up with one man units and then upgrade them all - max your unit count out by like ten fold 😂
Epic battle Apollo and your friends did a great job and hopofully had fun. This is why I started watching your channel all these years ago!! When you used to cover third age mod for medieval 2, oh how the CA and the games have changed
Dude i was so into that moment you are talking about bfme 2 xD This game was awesome. Even today the best rts in my opinion... Wish there was a up to date bfme 3, that would be so awesome
Hey Apollo, i came here to ask. Which of the Lord of The Rings Mods do you like the best? I'm thinking of which to install and play but i'm not sure which one to pick.
Pixie if you love battle for middle earth 2 you’ve gotta try the Age of the Ring mod, it’s so damn good and the creators have put years and years of work into it and they’re still updating, install is kind of a pain because you have to download the base game and rise of the witch king but they are free online
Perfect video, except for the music for the Rohirim charge. Should have been something more chargey than somber. We don't want to feel bad for the dying uruks after all.
some unit faction have wrong position like most elves should stay on the wall or behind it while all of the rohirrim should stay in the keep but cool battle nonetheless
not myself but i do remeember putting archers of murkwood on the front gate of helms deep and shooting halfway across the map. my friends had to ban it for being a cheese strat. with the arrow upgrade that gave them knockback it was so op it was hilarious.
Always nice to see a helms deep battle. Such an iconic battle
Still to this day, it has not been topped.
I wonder how this would be with Warhammer 3 using missing heroes.
This was such a chill stream.
couldn’t agree more
Was some good vibes yeah, jumped in and out but was cool stuff.
been watching you since 2016 and these videos just never get old. keep being awesome, Pixie!

"Isengard has a lot of limitations" totally apollo 💯💯💯
"Sapers"
"Retrainers"
"Aramir"
"Arrowmir"
The Dawnless Days Campaign cant come soon enough
Epic mod! But Gandalf didn't blind the orcs during battle, it was basically the sun rising over the hill.
The amount of time and effort that was put to make this mod is Oscar worthy. Kudos for the modders, and of course congrats to you Apollo as well! The only small detail i would add is some lord of the rings theme music on the background :)
its copy right he cant use it unless he finds a good remix

The 2 3 4 rule or something like that
2 pikes 3 something 4 archers? I don't remember.
I remember watching your original helms deep video in elementary school, now I’m an adult… keep it up!
I got this mod yesterday and first thing I did was look at the cities and castles and they have absolutely smashed it with the designs so far, props to the developers of the mod. Can’t wait to see if a campaign can be made, it would be insane
can you help me to get the mod.. i love LoR..
"Theoden king stands alone"
"Not Alone"
Cant wait for the full mod to come out
This map is so amazing
oh man BFME 2 was one of my favorite RTS games, the ring war was a really tough mode

Remember these videos from the medieval mod times. Ahh the memories. Thanks Apollo!
Going to be that dork. Wasn’t the light during Gandalfs charge the sun rising? Whole at dawn look to the east? Either way, loved the video. Been watching you for nearly a decade now. Never bored. Thanks for all the videos over the years!

Great battle to watch, and play, amazing vid as always
Omg Apollo you didn’t miss the big charge, it was actually beautiful
6:29 Legolas just spawned himself multiple times xd
@Pixelated Apollo; Farmir is made Prince of Ithilien by Aragon. He'd technically still be the Steward of Gondor when the king was away. He marries Eowyn.
If anyone deserves to get 1M subs, it's Apollo ! Great video!
The king has returned
Started watching at 2016 stopped at 2019 and here I am back at 2023.
I still cant believe you threw away your cav. Isengaurd already had a huge advantage in the first place. Like, YYYYY
I've been gone a long time... almost a million subs damn. Hello nerds!
pretty sure that Isangard had at least one ballista in movie version, but cool battle anyway. And Gandalf with rohirrim arrived at the dawn so daylight is fine :)
FREAKING LOVED THE STREAM
Nice to see the replay! Was a great stream and great battle
It’s true that the Books > Movies, but the movies are still fucking amazing
awesome battle thanks for showing this!
Glad to see the replay saved properly. Loved the stream btw!
Love the Battle but those Elves are thousands of years old! I think they've earned a bronze Chevron at least!
Oh nice you got the replay working.
Nice! Good story telling 👌
I was 13 when i started watching pix and now I'm 20 kind of crazy to think about lol
Nice Helms Deep setting. I builded one in the mapeditor of stronghold crusader II. Is fun to play.
Looks like the replay turned out good!
Yes - BFME2! Use your own catapults to kill your units down to one man; fill your army up with one man units and then upgrade them all - max your unit count out by like ten fold 😂
was at the stream, glad the second squad of sapper made it!
I remember watching this live I went and watched tv and came back and it was still going lol
Epic battle Apollo and your friends did a great job and hopofully had fun. This is why I started watching your channel all these years ago!! When you used to cover third age mod for medieval 2, oh how the CA and the games have changed
The sun created the light. The sun rises
YES! I made it within an hour finally after years of watching Apollo's videos😂
Dude i was so into that moment you are talking about bfme 2 xD This game was awesome. Even today the best rts in my opinion... Wish there was a up to date bfme 3, that would be so awesome
I played the elves in this match, and I feel like 2 more units would have e been perfect

Well done pal. Love ya videos keep posting more my brother 👍🏽
you can fix the lagging by editing the numbers of threads used by the cpu in the gamefile. I've set it to 24 threads an now it runs just fine.
You should do more lotr battles like the good old days those videos were amazing
Shame the Isengard players did not listened to the instructions
Hey bro, what PC specs were you with when you played this specific game/mod?
Played this mod at least the original but thats like 15 years ago or some really awsome!
And The Rohirrims Hussars Arrived!
You need to change priority on the game to high and change the processor to run on 4-8 cores, and it should run better.
Perfect video, except for the music for the Rohirim charge. Should have been something more chargey than somber. We don't want to feel bad for the dying uruks after all.
love your videos keep up the good work
Yeah, stream was really funny at the beginning when you had to move your army up the hill to start the game. Lmao😅😊😅
You tried a performance mod, Apollo?
Go Apollo!!
Nice video love this map
I wish they make a night version of it.
Hi guys, I wonder what’s the mod in rome 2 battle videos to draw red green blue lines as notes? It’s above the small map on the right side.
oh its the slideshow battle!
40:29 - the moment when Apollo decides to change the name of his channel to nerd loser
Damn i was surprised how you could win....
Wish the campaign is already up for us to play
Where do I find this in the dawnless days mod, I just got it but i I cant find it
What computer do you need to play this properly?
Beautiful
Loved thud, LOTR is amazing
So is Pixie
This is why you the baaaaaa 🐐
Elves should get some chevrons
Rohan Vs Isengard.
Should have sent them up the ladder
Are there ladders for the upper wall?
Third age total feels more realistic
what is the process after dowload the mod from web to use it?
We ride North!!
You think you could do a battle of middle earth video
how i can download this map and put it in my game ?? thanks
How do I get this map for Dawnless Days?? its not in the presets
some unit faction have wrong position like most elves should stay on the wall or behind it while all of the rohirrim should stay in the keep but cool battle nonetheless
Just fyi "sappers" is pronounced "sap" (as in tree sap) + "ers"
Where do you find the soundtrack! Loving the LOTR remix
how you download iconic battles like minas tirith or helms deep ? i alredy using mod Dawnless Days
You’ll need to update the mod to 8.5
I wanna watch the one from the book, what's the title of that video
Really need some trolls modded and rams
Poor uruk-hai... #justiceforuruks
Why does MAP have to be very large? i never can understand this in the total wars and their modifications.
After Asmon covering the battle of Johnny Depp, now Appolo is covering the battle of Helm's Deep.
Anyone here had this problem in the BFTME 2 where the Berserker would become immortal and there was nothing you could do about it ?
not myself but i do remeember putting archers of murkwood on the front gate of helms deep and shooting halfway across the map. my friends had to ban it for being a cheese strat. with the arrow upgrade that gave them knockback it was so op it was hilarious.
for the life of me dont understand why this map is made so big all the time
