      Not the people, one of the problems they have is they want to build up troops but instead of attraction it's rejected as we don't want to go shooting Russians amongst other things. They oppressed us first before any other folk so if the Russians turned up in boats and planes as long as you didn't shoot us civilians we would happily help or watch justice being delt.

      It was partly a response to Truman's betrayal of the promise to share Manhattan Project information. Without Britain, the Project couldn't have happened as it did, with the likes of Tube Alloys contributing much, but Truman dumped on FFR's promise. As for "...since the Revolution" that is factually untrue, and honestly, it consumes much of the American psyche, but 1776 wasn't such a big deal to us, then, since, or now. I disagree with Attlee and his decision to sell engines to FDR's bum-chum, Stalin (bloody hell, FDR loved that communist monster), but can see why it was done.
