- I enjoy the hell out of the Bandai Figure-rise Standard Dragon Ball model kit line, but Piccolo may just be the best I've built so far. Sooo sooo good. Sure, it has it's nits but still an amazing piece. And the new hair for Gohan makes me like that kit even more.

The alternate Gohan head is for Gohan as a regular Super Saiyan. When his hair is standing straight up, he's in his Super Saiyan 2 form.

The likenesses to the anime and colors are actually more accurate on these than the Figuarts. They display beautifully, the scale is spot on and with some touch ups they look even better! An excellent alternative to the "big guns" from SH Figuarts

I love them because you have a chance to put them together and automatically they are more valuable to you.
Always love a good model build session with uncle Robo haha I love how you only cover important parts during your build process. As a review it really helps any builders do theirs right and is very considerate. Other channels do sped up build videos but don’t take the time to cover stuff like that so its really refreshing to see :) As a side note if you streamed a build here or on twitch I’d be tuning in and keeping the convos going haha
Haha, a stream would just be me cussing at myself most of the time for doing stupid stuff or taking too much time to figure out HOW THE HELL THIS PIECE FITS TO THIS PIECE! Actually, not a bad idea...
The Fwoosh Still would be entertaining and I’m sure people would tune in I definitely would. In real time we could here your thoughts about it and stuff and give any help if you’d like. Plus you could have DBZ/Star Wars playing in the background to catch up haha it’s up to you I love the review format as is but more Robo on stream would always be awesome
It was actually cheaper for them to include extra Goku parts since they can just reuse a molded sheet instead of making a new one, it happens with Gunpla alot as well.

It actually took me two tries to get it together right. At first I thought "Why did they make it where it doesn't even touch??"
Man, seeing that group shot reminds me just how oversized the Gokus are. The other modelkits seem to be scaled more for the figuarts series tbh, heck, Piccolo fits better there than the actual figuarts one!

Piccolo scales just fine with Goku. The scale keeps changing in the cartoon/comic.
@@TheFwoosh Me too. Dragon Stars Vegeta 1.0 works well with this line. That's the best regular sized Vegeta figure ever made thus far.

I'll wait a little before getting this.. They might repackage this with gohan included and some more extra parts, crossed arm part probably or extra face, or cape for gohan..

I bought the SSGSS Goku and SSJ4 Vegeta and put them together during lunch at work.
It was pretty fun.

I clicked for both Dragon Ball and Fwoosh.
The reason for those extra slots in the waist is actually to keep cost down. The way the engineered that is so they can use the same tooling on different kits. Goku and piccolo use the same waist unit even though piccolo is larger than goku is. Extend the waist and there you go.

I wish they would have had more hands for Piccolo here, they could have repacked the Cell hands
I have two extra leg pieces when put together and two purple bottom of the foot pieces. Do you know what these are for?
Most of the models are molded on sprues meant for reuse between the kits, so you usually end up with odd strays like that.

Robo don't know that this hair style for Gohan represents the first super saiyan form. The more spiky hair is his super saiyan 2 form...btw not trying to be a smart ass just a little FYI

I collect the mostly DBZ line of figuarts myself (have a figure rise Krillin) but I'm thinking about picking this guy for the extra head so I can have a Bojack Unbound Gohan. BTW sounds like you used a clip in the beginning of your review from DBZ Abridged. I recommended the show to you months ago, makes me happy you checked it out
Considering how Piccolo is the tallest Z Warrior, this Figurise would actually be on scale with the SHF. This is the closes thing were getting to a Piccolo 2,0 (if SHF ever does one)
So in the torso, I think the extra slots are used for shorter characters in comparison to Piccolo, maybe like Goku

I’m about to but the ssj gohan just for the body because my ssj2 gohan body is too wobbly and his waist and legs won’t stay together

I just don't like the heights of Holy and Vegeta. Their almost as tall as Piccolo, and piccolo towers over everybody in the anime! But they did do a stupendous job in making an entire figurine out of interlocking parts!

betterluck they don't really compare the model kits are very light they are great for the price point but figuarts are better the only thing the model kits do better is how the knee joints with baggy pants are. So far the best in the line are piccolo, cell and broly. Stay away from frieza he breaks way to easily. This piccolo looks better than the figuarts one however that was the first figure to release lol.

This is probably a stupid question, but I've been fascinated by these model kit videos, and have been wondering for some time now if all of these Star Wars and DBZ sets are snap-together kits? I'm still scarred by the few glue and paint model kits I dared to attempt as a kid, and have never really considered looking into these Bandai kits, for fear of all of that glue and paint I'd assumed was going to be involved. But, I might actually -- eventually -- consider looking into a kit like this, if they're snap together.

They might need some paint for certain details if you want full accuracy, but it's not entirely necessary since they look pretty good after a straight build.
If youre a fan of either of those properties I highly recommend them. Ive got a couple clone trooper kits and a lot of dbz figure-rise. They snap together super solid and you can get away without painting if you dont want to. The color seperation on these things is ridiculous
collegerebel Indeed, I've been pretty amazed with the ones I've seen Robo put together, via his videos on them, thus far. Makes me want to go back over his other build videos, to get a look at all 'em.

Yeah, it's kind of a shame. Although, he never did much with the cape on, as far as I remember. I'm all over action Piccolo though.

When i was young i loved the show, however i stopped watching it after the Cell era. Kinda wore out on me. Still love all the original characters tho!
My exact same experience, except I was in my 20s when they hit so I missed a lot. I've since went back and only made it through the Cell saga, and then started Abridged, which I absolutely love, but they've only made it up to the Cell saga, haha. Someday...

You can use floor polish or clear nail polish to thicken the joints up a bit, get them tighter.

The scale of Piccolo is way off compared to Goku. The top of Goku's head should come up to Piccolo's shoulders.
That's what I kind of though too, but that's a product of reuse.
The Fwoosh Yeah your right. It's just Bandai trying to save money... It's still a great kit though.
Is it just me or does that hair piece for Gohan look horrible. I don't remember it looking like that in the anime.
Pav941 Oh it definitely looked like that in the anime. Its his regular super saiyan hair style. The other hair piece depicts his super saiyan 2 form.
