I was born and raised right across the Tacony Palmyra bridge in South Jersey, 56 years, and even though I am from Jersey, I have a strong connection to Philadelphia, and I have always loved the Mummers and the parade! It dont get any better, and anybody that has never experienced the Mummers, or Philly, I feel bad for them because they are really missing out on something wonderful!!

Catfishing on the pier next to the bridge on the Delaware! A sturgeon or two, too. Good Memory's.

Thanks for showing us the behind the scenes preparation for the Mummers Parade. I have never seen this anywhere before and gives you an appreciation of how much hard work goes into having that 2 minutes in front of the judges. I heard a lot of great praises for Ferko String Band on the live broadcast from METV today. I marched in the Mummers Parade for a few years when I was younger in the Comics and it was such a great experience. One of the best memories of my life and yes Blackberry Brandy the drink of choice to stay warm. A few of those years were in frigid weather of around 20 degrees. Glad they got a nice day with calm winds for this years Mummers Parade. Good Luck to Ferko String Band!

    A MUMMER ~ NOT A MUMMY
    WELL MAYBEE
"It's any man, woman or child involved in the fantasy of song, dance and costume splendor on each January 1st in the annual Philadelphia New Year's Day parade,"
    Martz
The mummers devote an entire year to crafting their
    costumes, writing their skits,
    rehearsing their performances.
Philadelphia Mummers Parade is believed to be one of the oldest folk festivals in America, and a tradition that has been going on since the time of ancient Egyptians.
However, the word Mummer can be traced back
to ancient Greece. It is derived from Momus,
the personification of satire and mockery.
In the heart of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
Find the Mummers Museum. A vibrant hub that celebrates the rich tradition of the Mummers Parade.
The Mummers Museum was opened in 1976 as part of Philadelphia’s celebration of America’s Bicentennial. The Museum is dedicated to celebrating the tradition of Mummery in Philadelphia. Inside are costumes, oral histories, video and audio archives, and even an exhibit to teach anyone how to “strut.” Our collection brings you up close to the elaborate costumes and the captivating history behind the Mummers Parade.
Seize the day, then let it go.
    Marty Rubin.

    whoever he is.
