Wow, you know nothing about bitcoin. They are making millions of dollars.
Someone is making millions, that's why they are there. Unfortunately, it's not the town that has to put up with it.
They buy energy from providers discounted x4. Every month they sell what they will not use and at highest possible price. Every month, they make +$24 million in profit from just reselling energy. The farm makes +$8 million in profit every month from just bitcoin.
edit: they also get paid $7 million a month when ERCOT is not able to meet their energy demands
