There's a grief that can't be spoken, There's a pain goes on and on. Empty chairs at empty tables, Now my friends are dead and gone. Here they talked of revolution, Here it was they lit the flame, Here they sang about tomorrow and tomorrow never came. From the table in the corner, They could see a world reborn, And they rose with voices ringing, And I can hear them now The very words that they have sung Became their last communion On this lonely barricade, at dawn. Oh my friends, my friends forgive me That I live and you are gone There's a grief that can't be spoken, And there's a pain goes on and on Phantom faces at the window, Phantom shadows on the floor, Empty chairs at empty tables where my friends will meet no more. Oh my friends, my friends don't ask me What your sacrifice was for Empty chairs at empty tables Where my friend will sing no more.
A boy from my school sang this,I cried so much he was absolutely brilliant, he did change some of the words but I found it more emotional cause of the words he used
Precisely. That's what it's all about. If we can't deliver it, then what's the point of producing it? You can write the best song in the world but if the world never hears it...it's for nought.

woo, same here (at first, I then did a bit of warm up and it worked xD I still wont sing it in front of anyone tho xD)
umaca yeey Yeah, when I'm warmed up I can sing the entire thing and hit every note...

ME
No hay palabras que describan
Lo que siento en mi interior
Estas sillas hoy vacías
Son la imagen del dolor
Este sitio fue la cuna
De la noble rebelión
Cuando hablamos de un mañana
Que jamás amaneció
Esa mesa de la esquina
Era un mundo por nacer
Un rosario de canciones
Las puedo oír aún
Los bellos himnos al valor
Murieron con un grito
Se apagaron al salir el sol
Yo no pude acompañaros
Perdonadme, por favor
No hay palabras que describan
Lo que siento en mi interior
Me parece ver su sombra
Su señal en la pared
Estas sillas hoy vacías
Fueron suyas una vez
Ya no sé si vuestra muerte
Ha tenido algún valor
Estas sillas hoy vacías
Mi tristeza y mi dolor
Omgoodnesss Thanks alot!! Lo aprecio mucho, nunca a pensado en como se oye en español, pero luego vi tu commentario y AHHHH Muchas gracias!!
Hermosa adaptacion
I've always loved Les Miserables, and this song makes me cry every time I hear it.
Still my favorite karaoke upload of this song.
Je hebt helemaal gelijk, en zo hoort het ook! Iedere situatie vraagt om zijn eigen interpretatie. Dat maakt het ook spannend.
The lyrics are too fast 😕
Everyone interprets it differently. This is right on the beat, whereas most people sing it in their own rhythm.
No, not too fast. But they obviously don't show up in time!
If I can download this as an mp3 I should perhaps create a better version of this. You need to know it by heart more or less, to sing to this
@@LeifRyd Exactly. They're not fast but show up too late for the person who needs to read them in time. Whoever did this video didn't know how a karaoke works nor tried it before uploading it.
Thanks, I love the music background and the key.

Just use and MP3 grabber program or website. There are plenty
five years later: how did that talent show go?
Please tell us how it went.
@Jasper Hilliard I didn't win the final but it was fun trying. I was beaten by someone doing Nessun Dorma.
I finally did have a chance to listen and can say that she is blessed with a great voice!!! Thanks for sharing.

Jaki żal niewysłowiony
Jaki przejmujący ból
Pusty stół i puste krzesła
Mych przyjaciół nie ma już
Tu wzniecili rewolucję
Rozpalili w sercach żar
Choć śpiewali tu o jutrze
Jutro zgasło
Wśród tych ścian
Przy tym stole, w tej kawiarni
Zobaczyli lepsze dni
Zaśpiewali głosem jasnym
I nadal słyszę ich
Bo wyśpiewali sobie tren
Ostatnie namaszczenie
Gdy wstał nad barykadą świt
Och, wybaczcie przyjaciele
Co ja bez Was robię tu?
Jaki żal niewysłowiony, jaki przejmujący ból
Wasze duchy krążą wkoło
I upiorny tańczy cień
Pusty stół i puste krzesła
Już nie spotkam Was tu, wiem
Przyjaciele nie rozumiem
Jaki był ofiary cel
Pusty stół i... krzesła puste
I na zawsze zgasł Wasz śpiew...

I'm a tenor and I did quite well. I recognize that it might have been based on Ramin Karimloo's acoustic version.
Marius is a baritone/tenor role as well, so that probably helped. :P
this is a tenor part i do believe but mus be sung with emotion
As a low bass, I could sing it fairly well!
my school just got new musical theater books and it is in the baritone book
Yes this song is bass/tenor
Love this songs, ill download it.

Me from 2024 hope u watch it again

So I went to go see this at the West End in November last year and ever ince then I can barely listen to the song, let alone SING it!!

Yes, please do! And send me a message when you do, I need to know where to put my pitch..
I sing this in soprano, I’m glad it still works fine uwu
a bit glitchy but really helpful thx

So lovely in the music, shame the lyrics setting is behind the music.
Nikdy jsem tu bolest neznal,
bohužel teď už ji znám,
prázdný stůl i židle prázdné,
přátelé proč jsem tu sám?
Tady v nás ten oheň vzplanul,
slovu ZÍTRA šli jsme vstříc,
dnes to slůvko krutý cenzor
pokřivil na nikdy víc.
Tady sedal v koutě Grantaire,
Enjolras i Jean Prouvert,
tady z víry čin se rodil
a možná s ním i strach.
Však větší váhu měl ten sen,
sen nádherný, co volal,
k barikádě poslední tam v tmách.
Chlapci, odpusťte mi prosím,
že jsem tu živ, že jsem tu dál.
Kolik útrap život bez vás,
kolik slz a muk mě stál.
Reklama
Jako přízraky vás vídám,
jste jen přelud, jenom stín.
Prázdný stůl i židle prázdné,
proč tu být, když není s kým.
Jen ať nikdo z vás se neptá,
zda ta oběť smysl má.
Prázdný stůl i židle prázdné,
nevěří už v nic, jak já
what’s the key?

No, but how do you do it with a dark timbre? I can only do it overly bright and it sounds like Bugs Bunny (wat's ap, dack?)
Is this major or minor?
it's in the key A minor
Is this in a different key from the original?
Hi,
according to my guitar it starts with Am . . .
Hope this helps. . . ;-)
I'd say just ask me for an MP3 version. . .
Maybe that's the fastest way ;-)

absolutely not!

see this is what Hadley needed smh
I believe it's in c major
@Tim Bernsten this is clearly in a minor key
You show the numbers 3,2,1 instead of the lyrics to read in advance? I think this channel editor might be a bit...simple.
What key is this version in?
A minor
This yellow highlight cue is way off. It's all over the place
this is a tone too low to the original
No its not acutally. I believe that if you listen to the Micheal Ball version of emty chairs at emty tables, its got the same pitch as the Kareoke version (also taking in consideration that Micheal Ball version is the original pitch)

Adam Floro I'm an alto girl and I can sing it in this key, it's not that low not to hit the notes.
tolkienbliss It is intended for a Tenor, not an Alto. I was meaning in the context of the musical.
Adam Floro
so the starting key that productions use now started out as an optional starting key?
0:34 and 2:03
better than the other one because the other one was to fast
2:03

haha true.
Is it me or is the very end a little rushed?
há uma dor que segue muda
gosto amargo que não sai
tantas mesas e cadeiras
e ninguém se senta mais
era aqui que se encontravam
foi aqui que começou
o amanhã que procuravam
e o amanhã jamais chegou
numa mesa lá do canto
viram o mundo renascee
tantas vozes levantaram
e ainda posso ouvir
seus gritos bravos e canções
seus últimos momentos
nas trincheiras quando o sol nasceu
meus amigos me perdoem
todos mortos, e eu aqui
há uma dor que segue muda
gosto amargo que eu bebi
são fantasmas na janela
mais fantasmas pelo chão
tantas mesas e cadeiras
e ninguém se senta, não
meus amigos, não se apaga
essa dor nos olhos seus
nessas mesas e cadeiras
já não há amigos meus
I noticed I sound much better when my headphones are on...wonder why?
Há uma dor que segue muda
Gosto amargo que não sai
Tantas mesas e cadeiras
E ninguém se senta mais
Era aqui que se encontravam
Foi aqui que começou
O amanhã que procuravam
O amanhã jamais chegou
E da mesa lá no canto
Via o mundo renascer
Tantas vozes levantaram
E ainda posso ouvir
Seus gritos bravos e as canções
Seus últimos momentos
Nas barricadas onde o sol nasceu
Meus amigos, me perdoem
Todos mortos e eu aqui
Há uma dor que segue muda
Gosto amargo que eu bebi
São fantasmas na janela
Mais fantasmas pelo chão
Tantas mesas e cadeiras
Que ninguém se senta, não
