Rare to find someone that actually has values and stands firm unlike most of the entertainment industry. Most seem to follow the money no matter the cost
people crap om this guy but we all would have rode that gravy train that he did if we came from his background and was given his opportunity. at the end of the day, he can actually be pretty humble. He has my respect.
Goldberg is my favorite squash wrestler of all time. Goldberg had some phenomenal power moves that could be anyone's finisher. The moves looked powerful to the point it wouldnt make sense for the match to last too long.
I believe Goldberg is one of the truly great guys in the business. He always comes off as real & genuinely unaffected by his fame & the general nature of the wrestling business.
I was going to say the same thing. He seems alot more in touch with reality than alot of wrestlers. Even though I'm not really into wrestling, I had a job where I dealt with all the WWE guys and granted there are some nice guys but the majority acted like they where above everyone else. They forgot where they came from. It's refreshing to see a guy that didn't let it go to his head.
I think the Rock/Goldberg match is really underrated. My favorite moment is Rock lying in the corner saying "You are really gonna get it now!" lol... The DDP match was Bill's best, and the infamous Nash match is also underrated. But people say WWE buried him, but the truth is WWE expects a champion to deliver 20+min on every PPV, and Bill just wasn't capable of that. And I hate that I truly believe he never REALLY understood just how thankful he should be to all these guys who made him.
Naw its because he needs his on action movie or martial arts sort of movie first to be considered an expendable. Still havnt seen that bullshit but I hear Jean claude vandamme might do a Mortal kombat movie, its funny cause he turned down the offer in 1995 originally, Just to play Guile in street fighter xD
Best thing Bill Apter made: WOW Magazine. Such a tongue and cheek magazine on wrestling. Very fun to read and didn't take itself seriously but had good interviews and cool articles on wrestling but not just in the main 3 at the time (WWE, WCW, ECW) but small independent circuits too. Random wrestlers from all over the place. Such a cool mag. Wish it would've lasted longer.
Bill, as long as you were out of the business, I always wanted you to come back to the business, and as a fan I got my wish, I want to say thank you. I may have disliked the way that WWE first used you, but the way they brought you back for ratings they realized how good you were. As well how important family and friends really are. I couldn't help but love it. Tell Brock, as a loyal Goldberg fan I say thank you to him.
2013 they still chant GOLDBERG on every WWE RAW and PPV!! Thanks Vince and Ryback but there is only 1 GOLDBERG. Hogan honestly truly made GOLDBERG in Atlanta, Georgia inside the Georgia Dome aka GOLDBERG's Backyard.
bill goldberg was the best thing to happen to wrestling...and good on him for sticking to his opinions and standing up for what he believes...no one in wrestling today apart from CM Punk has the courage to do that.
hogan's been wrestling icon for 35 yrs,he brought wrestling, remember we used to call it the "fake shit" into all the living rooms of all the industrialized nations of the world, his gimmick is still alive,he still creates a frenzy in the crowd from his gimmick even in the year 2013. He is the god and greatest of all time in this entertainment sport. You are the arsehole!!
***** yes i know Jewish is a religion not s race, hence i said you are anti semitic, not racist. It sounds like you are unsure if you are joking or not but either way i don't wish to argue with someone who seems to think being jewish or gay are bad things. There is no need to resort to aggressive insults just because you have a different opinion.
Old dude? That's Bill Apter. He had a big hand in bringing Andy Kaufman to Jerry Lawler's territory as well as being the face of Pro Wrestling Illustrated and all the magazines it was affiliated with (and in the 1970's and 1980's those magazines were incredibly popular). The man is a legend in the business. Please show some respect.
@erondax That would be the be all end all of Wrestlemania's. The Stone Cold/Goldberg one I mentioned earlier is more of a WCW vs WWF should have been at Invasion.
Yea Rock's heel run in '03 was awesome. Some of his best mic work ever IMO. I don't know what else Goldberg wanted them to do. He comes in and right away beats one of WWE's biggest Attitude Era stars, beats him clean no less. Then destroys everything in his path before finally beating the boss's son in law for the belt. I think he got some hard truths that year, like how he wasn't as big a star as he thought he was. He was big in WCW, but he was just another guy in WWE.
The have good talent, Daniel Bryan is a good wrestler, CM Punk as well, Alberto Del Rio is perhaps one of the best charismatic heels that we havn't seen in a while.
Goldberg looks so deflated when compared to his days wrestling. Always a great guy and really seems to appreciate everything he has been blessed with and doesn't take any of it for granted.
As for the bit of 'falling flat' against credible 'formidable' opponents, there seem to be 2 sides to that one: 1 - opponents like Sting who they just couldn't show him 'steamrolling' through 2 - his stature and 'image' was such that they found it impossible to imply a match that found him 'working' his way to a win or a scientific match, period. With his cast image it was either a quick kill or a small sell with a quick recovery That was the whole 'invincible' point. Hope some points make sense
WCW lost SOOOOO much money doing that spot in the Georgia Dome. Sure, it got a huge pop, and Hogan wanted to put Goldberg over, but they needed to hype it up for a PPV. Goldberg had run through everybody and was the top face in all of wrestling (that includes then-Attitude Era WWF). Hogan was the game's biggest heel. Instead of shooting and squeezing in a 10 minute match at the end of a Nitro, they needed to do a big PPV in the south (to stay in Goldberg's area), and bill it as the biggest match ever. He seemed like the one super-hero capable of taking out Hogan and the nWo at the time. After the match, the nWo could get some heat back with some backstage stuff, cheat him out of the title a few months later, and then have him go through them 1-by-1 until he gets back to Hogan. Finally, they could have moved on from the nWo concept to flesh out a few real story lines (Bret Hart included - who had great ideas for working with Goldberg).
Ahhh, I went to a Shark MMA event in Laughlin NV and was like, hey that guy looks like Goldberg, but was like na, what he be doing here. I guess that was him. Anyway, that night Goldberg won the belt turned out well, probably one of the best PPV of WCW and while they were still winning the Monday Night Wars.
Hey Goldberg I'm your fan from Yemen. We need you to come back. The WWE universe really need you bad. “Your next” to be returned to WWE. You made big positive influences all around the world. I wish that you come back. Now we only get to watch your old video. The wrestling industry is missing whole lot with out you. No intensity. Your unique super human!
This guy is awesome, like someone you'd want to have a beer with. Still looks in great shape too. "That food over there is next. And you're gonna be next if I don't get to eat it."
I can't believe people are still hating on him for ending Bret Hart's career. That incident is what us humans like to call an accident. Bret Hart isn't the only guy that had his career ended by an accident in wrestling. Accidents happen Bret knew the risk of having his career end in an instant every night he stepped into the ring. Bret probably would have retired a year later anyway when wwe bought out the company. And I doubt he would have went to tna or the indy's.
I love how Apter is such a gentleman to his guests, you should check out his website and stop reading Meltzer’s garbage reports; why, he simply reviews or revisits, unlike Meltzer who will only express his opinion(s) and/or political view(s).
Good with the fans, but a lot of people in the wrestling business believe his rise to the top was undeserved and rushed; didn't "pay his dues." Also, I think he let that streak get to his head. Made him quite cocky and he didn't really want to give up the streak. Made him hard to work with. He changed quite a bit when he went to WWF/WWE though. He had to.
i never said anything about the PG era. He said that he left the business because of the direction it was taking and of course he didn't want his character to be turned into a joke. That's it. But yes, Goldberg was a PG character back in the day. Something like a superhuman character. Just went there and smashed his opponents which was great in my book.
To be fair he did have a few good matches with DDP, Sting, Nash. even the Hogan match was entertaining for what it was. Then he came to WWE, had a decent match with Rock first match in. Decent work with Jericho and Triple H during that run too. Of course there's the Lesnar match, but that wasn't all on him.
Nobody got pop like Goldberg, but at the same time, he refused to put other guys over. Intensity, and a lot of action in short or mid length matches. That was his gimmick. Unfortunately for him (and the fans), that isn't a gimmick that can last very long. The fans were pretty fickle during that run of WWE anyway. His best role was really as the super hero rescue guy - someone's in trouble, he comes out and clears house, gets the crowd jacked up and leaves. Staying undefeated is a silly gimmick, because it makes the fans look at you like the Yankees or Floyd Mayweather. It's exciting and historic to see it at first, but eventually you want to see them lose. It would have been nice to see a heel turn where he becomes a bit of a hired gun. They tried it during the chaotic dark days of WCW, but that was a mess. In WWE, the fans could have gleefully hated him, until some hero comes along and breaks it. Maybe then Goldberg goes away for a while. He then has a surprise return and people think he's there to help a villain, but he goes baby face again for one last run before retiring. Just an idea.
I don't think his heart was ever in it - - - It certainly was not because he could not be booked anywhere . . . Unlike many (he is no youngster), he walked away with his head held high and didn't stay around until he bored the audience to death - Hear that Hogan . . . I respect his decision and applaud his honesty.
Goldberg was the man, my favorite
Goldberg said he wasn't a fan of wrestling growing up .
I respect the hell out of Goldberg bc he stands by his beliefs unlike so many ppl these days, especially in the wrestling industry.
+Jesus Hitler LOL the biggest mark for himself is triple H. I think you mean it doesn't fly if you aren't friends with Hunter
"That food is next. Actually, you're going to be next if I don't get to eat it."
Gave me a chuckle. :)
I was going to say the same thing. He seems alot more in touch with reality than alot of wrestlers. dude, best channel ever for real :D amazing camera man and interviewer and how can we forget goldberg, goldberg goldberg.
As always, from Bill Apter, a well done interview. Thanks Bill and Bill.
I think the Rock/Goldberg match is really underrated. My favorite moment is Rock lying in the corner saying "You are really gonna get it now!" lol... Goldberg is so awesome he should be in more action movies. Why was he not in the Expendables?
Naw its because he needs his on action movie or martial arts sort of movie first to be considered an expendable. Hogan vs Goldberg was one hell of a match, one of the best in the history.
Same here! AWA days back as a little kid. I always liked when he was called King Kong Brody.
Bill is the real deal. Good morals
Bill, as long as you were out of the business, I always wanted you to come back to the business, and as a fan I got my wish, I want to say thank you. bill goldberg was the best thing to happen to wrestling...and good on him for sticking to his opinions and standing up for what he believes...no one in wrestling today apart from CM Punk has the courage to do that.
Bill your rock brother! thanks for all the years. Im goldberg fan forever.
I met Bill Goldberg once back in 1998. He was a really cool guy!
No you didn’t
The legend himself GOLDBERG
its good to see bill goldberg after a while...
Another one of my favorites. Kinda wished I watched move wrestling when he was in his hay day.
I really liked this interviewer. It's nice to know an ex-wrestler seems to have landed on his feet. Bill looks happy.
Thumbs up for Bill Apter, a man who never sold out to Vince.
U Gotta Love Apter and his "old school" microphone that he still uses
a lot of respect to Goldberg
How many people think goldberg and undertaker should have a rematch at summerslam.
6:46 "that food is next" goldberg is too much 😅😅😅
hogan's been wrestling icon for 35 yrs,he brought wrestling, remember we used to call it the "fake shit" into all the living rooms of all the industrialized nations of the world, his gimmick is still alive,he still creates a frenzy in the crowd from his gimmick even in the year 2013. Straight up good guy. People hate on him because at the end of the day hes about the money, but you need money to survive...soooooooo calm down.
He still looks good
THE REAL GREAT ONE -BILL GOLDBERG
seems like someone got ofended..
***** homophobic much
***** anti semitic and homophobic, u r 2 edgy 4 me

This is why I love Goldberg
GOLDBERG GOLDBERG GOLDBERG GOLDBERG!
Bill's a smart guy with a surprising amount of class. I had no idea he was so cool!
just gained alot of respect for goldberg in this interview
One of the Strongest Wrestler of all time..
He's one of my Favorite Wrestler..
Goldberg!!!!!!!!!!!
@erondax That would be the be all end all of Wrestlemania's. The Stone Cold/Goldberg one I mentioned earlier is more of a WCW vs WWF should have been at Invasion.
Great genuine guy
i just want to see him back in the ring kicking ass as long as he's happy where he goes to if it's wwe tna roh or wherever
This is actually a pretty good Interview. I miss Bill Goldberg.

goldberg is such a chill dude
he is back in wrestling 2011 he said in his other video ..AWESOME!
I was a big wcw fan back in the day
Awesome quick interview. We miss ya Goldberg in the ring but hot damn your still doing a good job living a positive life.
And he ended up returning & got so much hate. He should had come back much sooner.
This was wildly entertaining and insightful for my left ear! Cheers!
This interviewer is the best

I give Bill Goldberg a lot of credit for sticking to his beliefs. He wasn't being a baby. He was doing what he felt was right.
@ElClan72 Hogan was talking about planning the match in the ring as they wrestled. He said : We'll call it in the Ring.
over the years outside of his character he always seemed like a great guy.
this is like what the warrior said about hogan not putting any effort into the matches and doing it on the fly
recorded on MONO!?
I'm glad you could see it my way :D
I would LOVE to watch you call him that in person.
stand up guy ! hogan should grow up be more like bill !
Goldberg wouldn’t make a pimple on Hogan’s ass !
He was also Umaga's partner in 3MW

Goldberg seems really nice like a guy who would be easy to hang out with.
@CREYKING what means pg ?
"PARENTAL GUIDANCE"..NO MORE NUDITY, PERVERSION THAT WAS SO PREVALENT FOR AWHILE..VINCE McMAHON'S CRAP GOT SEX-NASTY ON CAMERA..

Despite what Chris Jericho (who I also love) says about Goldberg, he seems like a great human being.
Oh Man,I remember Bruiser Brody, growing up.that guy was a MONSTER.always loved watching him wrestle.
Met him once. Couldn't have been any nicer.
yeah i cant think of anyone thats been around longer and done a better job at what he does than bill apter.
Goldberg vs Undertaker would be beyond epic! WM28 dream match
@amirchandani89 do you think he's back on the juice? or do these guys never quit that stuff, or never start?
I personally think that the BEST Spear EVER was on WCW Thunder when Goldberg speared Kiwi in midair and flattened Him.
I love how Apter is such a gentleman to his guests, you should check out his website and stop reading Meltzer’s garbage reports; why, he simply reviews or revisits, unlike Meltzer who will only express his opinion(s) and/or political view(s).

we'll do it in the ring BROTHER!
Goldberg graduated from the same High School as me.
How the hell do you do mess up your frame like this?
They blew a huge PPV opportunity
he says, he miss the fans, come back goldberg !!!!!!!!!
this was pretty good

wish he would come back
Love to see Cena get a spear and jackhammer at WM31
Would love to see Goldberg vs Rhyno vs Christian vs Roman Reigns to see who does the Spear, Gore, and Shoulder Block the best
Would say Edge but he cant get back in the ring
Wow, Goldberg actually seems like a really cool dude.
There's a rumor saying he may come back for a rematch with Brock since the triple h story line is done.
Good question, all I can say is I can find out and get back to you.
*STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN vs GOLDBERG*
