It would be perfect for that. the shoulder padding is extremely well-built and in our opinion, it should be used to carry heavier loads like what you described. if someone is only going to carry a sweater or sack-lunch then this bag is too over-build for that... but if you're carrying something with some decent weight - YES !!!
I own 511 packs and just bought the moab10 . The quality and pricing is very good , But it is the most uncomfortable pack I have ever owned . . You have to keep the weight down to about 8 lbs. If the pack will mainly be in a vehicle , all good . The bag will handle 20-25 lbs , but it will kill your shoulder when you have to carry it . I really like this pack , but it will just be a tool bag for the vehicle .
@barra I agree that this would make a really great tool bag. Carrying 20 to 25 lbs me is the sweet spot for this bag. If you're going on Long hikes or wearing the bag for long periods of time , then yeah I would probably get regular rush 12 or 24 backpack. But if you're talking about a school bag or office bag or a work bag that you want to easily take on and off... I think the moab10 would do nicely. By the way, I think 511 website was having a Holiday sale Black Friday online... It may still be having it. Worth checking out
