I was one of the kids who wrote to Washington for the Wild Horse Annie campaign. I remember her, the films, etc. I was put on a horse before I could walk by my grandpa. My grandparents were trick riders til my grandma had an accident that stopped her riding.
I always tell myself Oprah's quote," When we know better, we do better". So much more is known then when I started riding. I wish I knew then what I'm learning now via videos. And Ive been out of the equestrian world for a while. I hope one day I can figure out how to overcome the things that are preventing me from having a horse again.

And I also love that quote!

I bought a mustang on Monday at the Online corral, you weren't kidding about the nervousness. I am so excited and I will be watching your videos to learn more about how to train him.

Black Beauty is one of my favorite books and I do love the movie. I had a hobby horse with a chestnut/reddish plush head and a white blaze. I named her Ginger because I wanted her to know a better life than the book described.

I used to have a garden off grid with only one water source, and found the easiest way to fill and haul it long distances was one of those plastic storage bins in a wagon, definitely made chores easier!

All the best for 2025! I enjoyed the trip down memory lane, especially when you shared your childhood essays and drawings. It sparked recollections of a girl I sat next to in the 6th grade whom I'm certain you would have been best friends with. She was a talented artist who regularly doodled out masterpieces of horses and Labradors. I thought I'd impress her by drawing a horse during the regular art period, but it looked like some kind of undiscovered goat-like creature with the head of a camel. The more I tried to fix it, the worse it got. We got in trouble for laughing.
My better half said she was going back to her roots in 2025, too! "So you're going to just let it go gray," I asked? I made myself a couple of hot dogs and a can of chili for dinner. Very sweet of her to leave a pillow and a blanket on the couch for me. 😉

Thank you for sharing your story and your goals! Seeing you continuing to train even in the cold and snow, I should say you motivated me, but I think really you’ve rather shamed me into reconsidering my approach with my own horses! 😂
Here in Virginia where I live, snow remains from a storm a week and a half ago, and very cold temps, both of which are unusual for our area. And thus a perfect excuse to not put in the effort I know I should be!
Watching you persevere, I’m rethinking my own situation and goals, and I’m determined to make 2025 the best year yet with my horses. I’m looking forward to seeing your progress. Happy New Year! ❤

Aww thank you for your kind words! That is odd for VA! I went to college there and remember it only snowing a few times. It was especially fun watching all the southerners enjoy it :) I think it's just all what we're use to. I probably wouldn't be so resilient in the heat haha

Britta...go to the class. You are ready and you are worthy, and you will learn and you will share. If there wasa way to contact you I would write you a huge appeal about how your life will change, but also how important it is to believe in your own personal strength. I see so much of myself in you. I'm almost 66 and not at all where I want to be or where I thought I'd be, but I am so incredibly blessed by all of the opportunities that I grabbed along this path. You are a hero in so many ways and never sell yourself short of that, A hero doesn't have to act a certain way or wear a medal or have 300K followers. All they have to do is make a difference which you do for all of us (and your babies) every single day.

I have trouble with my “frost free “ faucet freezing as well. I soak a rag in boiling water and wrap it around the faucet and cover it with a plastic and foam cover that you can purchase at the hardware store. Usually it thaws within a half hour.

You need heat trace wrap for your pipes, which you plug in during the winter freeze. I live in a mobile home and it has saved our pipes from freezing. Wishing you the best in 2025.

Horses are not like people in that their ability to stay warm is from forage which in their gut acts like their own internal furnace. These horses have forage available to them and as you can see they are in excellent weight!
