I asked my friends to buy me some real "minimal Techno" for my 17th birthday in 2001. They brought me this CD, I listened to it daily for almost 3 years. I traveled 500km with a bus to hear Richie Hawtin DJ set first time . Still one of the best DJ mixes in history.
I bought this CD in 2001, I still listen to it about 100 times a year, and it's no joke, for me one of the great jewels of Techno, on the album cover you can see the sequence of when each track is inserted. A work of sound art. If you can listen to Closer to the edit by him. 300 loops mixed every 8/12/16/32 bars
Starling I saw this live in Pittsburgh I'm from Detroit... I saw Richie spin for 10 hours straight before city club Detroit not as palstikman seen that to but 10 hr set Richie and the decks he's an alien all I can say baddest DJ on the planet
I'll never forget "fantasia party" club Soda in Berlin at love parade weekend 2000. Richie was playing about 3 hours, an extended version of decks efx & 909. ❤️
This is the period where Richie Hawtin was kicking out the tightest minimal techno sets along with Johnny Aquaviva. Their sets at St.Andrew’s/Shelter and in Windsor CA followed by after hours clubs was plush back in the day circa late 1990’s. Classics always stand the test of time. Love that drop at 31:10 which gets the energy in the club peaking to another level!⚡️⚡️
I got to experience a Hawtin set in Minneapolis back in summer of 2000 or 2001 (not clear on which year for sure). I just recall it being shortly before the 9/11 attack. Amazing time. The entire world changed on 9/11/01. It has never really recovered. It feels like our projected timeline took a turn for the dystopian.
Due to my young age, I´m used to listeting to the Richie´s "modern" sets, and I almost forget he played "real" techno a few years ago. Thanks for the uploading cause i´ts brilliant, half way between grooving, techno and tribal :)
An old mix from 1998 live on radio1. He had lost his records at the airport before the gig so had to rush to a local record shop, grab a load of techno and play the gig! Lovely bit of swearing right at the last few seconds of the mix! John Peel the host of the show was that impressed he swore twice 😊👍 Quality
in the last few years he is getting better again. nothing like the old sets of course. but certainly better than the bliptch bloptch from boiler room amsterdam
Richard Harvey is a genius and its so underrated...Magical track selection from Richie with is tracks,,,,one of the best techno compilations of late 90s early 2000s,,,always need to get my dancing shoes when listening to this gem.
I always loved the last 20 minutes of this mix when he starts going deeper and deeper. And when "Never Tell You" finally kicks in I feel like out of this galaxy. Everytime.
Honestly, I've listened to tech since i was a kid: this sesion like 1500 times or even more... yesterday i noticed some new in minute 45. can't I die happy already?
Damn, haven't heard this mix in years...I forgot how good it is. As far as I can tell he doesn't miss a beat once. Seamless mixing at it's finest. Peace everyone.
Well, are you or are you not mistaken? Holy shit, man, on my 43rd birthday I saw Plastikman at a three day rave in a pretty small bldg, and he was amazing. Love you, kid..
The Nitzer Ebb introduction is absolutely genius, even after all of these years. Definitely his best work...the intro is still my all time favorite though, even compared to jeff mills. SUCH A CLASSIC NOW! xoxoxoxoxoxooxoxoxo
@vanessariske I have seen Richie Hawtin a few times live whit his 'decks efx & 909' and its amazing to see and hear how quick he makes the loops and mixes the tracks.
First half of this has comprised of three blocks of three producers - Dean Cole, Arthur Smith and Jeff Mills, first two has quit production long ago but materials are elegant.
Favourite classic work-drive background mix, Dave Clarke Radio 1 2000 Essential Mix at the Minus Orange-double king of snake part destroys the what the hell was that attempt though, even now.
This is techno at it's most fierce, uncompromising, driving and brilliant. Haw tin was definitely much less interesting in recent years, but anyone who thinks he's not talented needs to listen to this from start to finish - another level completely.
I had people keep stealing this album on me finally stopped carrying original copies around. Same thing happened with Underworld's album - Second Toughest of the Infants
I've seen roughly 20-30 sets of him during the 90s and idk about "best" yet, but this is definitely one of the better ones, has always been one of my favs, Dave Clarke, Ritchie Hawtin, Felix Da Housecat, Jeff Mills, Miss Djax... PS: while I'm writing this it keeps getting better o.o
Who is Kageroo? But I agree with you though as they were real DJs back in the day and not some CD mixing DJs with some deck efx/fruity loops like the garbage spewing out today. Mad Props to the following pioneers in no particular order: Frankie Bones, Derrick Maye, Juan Atkinson, Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, Robert Hood, Kenny Larkin, Plastikman, Johnny Aquaviva, DJ Theorem aka Dale Lawrence, Kooky Scientizt, Bad Boy Bill, Josh Wink, Jeff Mills, Mark Farina, Speedy J,Thomas Harding (not a fan of Progressive Hard House/Trance hence no Sasha, Digweed, Tiesto, A&B or the likes on my list apart from Harding).Although I may be dating myself and out of touch but I see some hope in up and coming DJs like Magda, Seth Troxler, and Marshmello! Anyhow, keep the good flows and vibes going for the next generation as the stuff hitting the airways today is absolute and utter rubbish! 👎
A.T. - Live At Chesterfield Label Land Gold 22-06-2002 is the best set from him Ive come across. There are torrents out there, and also see the soundcloud website
bang.........this is so awesome!! been listening to this album since 1999 STILL THE MOST ADVANCED SHIT OUT THERE!!!! (before that, was only Jeff Mills's in the liquid room at Tokyo from 1996 that was that boomingl!! :-)) GOD BLESS RICHIE AND THE TECHNO MOVEMENT!! Cheers all!!

Minus Orange into Nitzer Ebb, one of the finest pieces of techno ever created.
Still blows my mind!
One of the best techno mixes ever. Good old Richie
Hawtin's greatest moment.

i went out on my bike for 7 hours with this on repeat and it didnt get boring at all

As far as groundbreaking techno mixes go, this is up there with Jeff Mills' Liquid Rooms and Dave Clarke's World Service.
Shit the bed, i had forgotton about World service, i knew something was missing from my life.
and Surgeons Food For Thought :)
You,sir, are a man after my own heart. You know your shit for sure.

You know about Plastikman though right? Try Ritchies MixMag mix too. You’ll like.
in the last few years he is getting better again. nothing like the old sets of course. but certainly better than the bliptch bloptch from boiler room amsterdam
This mix is da bomb - techno at its best!!!!
the Jeff mills medley around 35 minutes is insane.
Este cd lo tengo, cuanto tiempo sin oirlo!!!!
Richard Harvey is a genius and its so underrated...Magical track selection from Richie with is tracks,,,,one of the best techno compilations of late 90s early 2000s,,,always need to get my dancing shoes when listening to this gem.
the decks efx & 909 is a dj + live set with many remindings.
it ran so often
One of the best techno mixes ever made. Hands down in my top 5. 🤖💋
I always loved the last 20 minutes of this mix when he starts going deeper and deeper. And when "Never Tell You" finally kicks in I feel like out of this galaxy. Everytime.
I thought it was just me, I really want the continuation of that mix!!
Honestly, I've listened to tech since i was a kid: this sesion like 1500 times or even more... yesterday i noticed some new in minute 45. can't I die happy already?
No doubt about that! Saw him do this set at Little Further in '99 and watched for nearly 3 hours straight. It melted my face off!
Loser
around 2001 I got it and listened from a "cd rental" shop of tokyo,,, still loving it
pure tribal techno so good
A wonderful survey of the rhythmic and narrative possibilities of techno.
i became a cd from a cd with the (only) description DECKS FX & 909. and i told this friend: give me more of this
This is so nice and groovy
25:00 best part !!!!!
One of the all-time classics. My love affair with this style of techno has been going strong for 12 years now.
44:40 Classic Minimal Techno.
Deep and Progressive as much as you want it.
Nice rythm added to Club Soda
Fuckin classic mix! Maybe the best. The User tracks put this shit over the top. Still sounds fucking hot almost 20 years on.
Das war damals die Zukunft. Ohmg Richie. Jeder Übergang eine Offenbarung thx
Damn, haven't heard this mix in years...I forgot how good it is. As far as I can tell he doesn't miss a beat once. Seamless mixing at it's finest. Peace everyone.
Still one of the all time greats if not the most perfect set ever played.
4reel best ever
I'm almost positive it was a studio set, not live. I'm open to correction though.
Nice! Even after all these years its still isn`t boring.
I saw him do the plastikman live set and this mix in 1995 at Pure in Glasgow at the barrowlands great memories when techno was at its best 😎👌
Techno is the pinnacle of electronic dance music.
❤
he should do more of this
Love that hardcore intro
This Set I played All-Frickin-Day..... Absolute Awesomeness and its perfect too in 2020
Impeccable piece of music.
Why would anyone hit the down thumb for this...just don't listen.

Carrément frérot de la bête de scud..tout une époque 🙃🙃
La mejor sesión de R. H aka Plastikman en mucho tiempo. Y hablamos del 98-99. Era techno en serio. Ahora es... Pues eso \0/
His innovative skills busted open the doors for todays CD mixer djs :P
Lo has clavado muchacho...
I refuse to exist in a timeline where this doesn't exist.
Still sounds outstanding after all this years 🕺🏻
Hands down the best techno mix and representation of what I feel is the best era of techno. Shit was mad technoid with a splash of organic matter.
I think this was my first Richie mix, I got it for my 18th birthday if I am not mistaken.
Well, are you or are you not mistaken? Holy shit, man, on my 43rd birthday I saw Plastikman at a three day rave in a pretty small bldg, and he was amazing. Love you, kid..
