I may be wrong but I seem to recall that one of Bugner's opponents died and after that he found it hard to 'Pull the trigger'. Chris Eubank was never the same after the Michael Watson tragedy. This was one of Joe's better fights (He also went the distance with Ali twice but didn't show this kind of spirit). Is there a recording of this with an English commentary? I'm sure there must be. Joe Frazier was unappreciated and when he passed away. Hardly anybody went to his funeral in the public. If I was living in Philly, I would've went. They should put a statue up of him. His stamina and ability absorb punishment was extraordinary. If he had more knockout power it would have been a game changer. R.I.P Champ.

Frazer was a great sportsman too, Formen or later Tyson would have beaten devastating blows as Bugner was on the way down at 7:45, Frazer hesitated, knowing it's enough at this point in time.

Joe Frazier pulls his last punch which would almost certainly have ended the fight immediately as Bugner was already collapsing. How many of the greats would show such consideration for the opponent. Ali did the same against Foreman. This is the ultimate proof of excellence, holding back from unnecessarily injuring the opponent.

This was Bugners best fight , he should have had more good fights like this. Bugner too often did not fight at 100 per cent. His defeat to Jack Bodell. His second fight with Ali was a disgrace. His loss to Marvis Frazier. And many more. Could have done so much more. You get the respect or lack of respect you deserve. Look at a great like Marcel Cerdan , or Carlos Monzon.
