  • Brad and Paul bring it! There's so much to chew on in this conversation; paradigm shifting, provocative, inspiring - these guys are a treasure. Brad and Paul have co-authored a book called The Pastor: A Crisis, which is a raw, authentic examination of the question, "Is anyone irredeemable?". The answer is "No!" Even the worst, the abject worst, are redeemable through the "fire" of God's wrath-love. It's a brutally beautiful story of hitting rock bottom and finding God there. It's a rollercoaster book and a rollercoaster discussion. Please let us know if you resonated with the wisdom Brad and Paul shared with us.
    There's so many good resources too! Here's the links to The Pastor and other items we mention:

    I love the explanation of ontology. All comes from our understanding of this question; what is the truth of my being as the Trinity declares.

      Starting with that ontology / identity question is so important. Thanks for listening!

    You men are changing my life by every video I watch. As tears flow from my face I am finding I so love this Jesus much more than the religious one I use to know! He is so much more loving g and gentler. Loosing my daughter 10 years ago,my dad ,my mom ,my brother and my childhood friend to cancer had me searching for a different healing and a different look on life I didnt have to look far I found Paul and Brad and started watching and reading and I found a more loving God one that didnt push me to get over my pain and sorrow but met me there in it! I had become physically ill and wasn't sure if life was worth it all. Thank you both and all who are helping others find this lovely Jesus!!!

      Michelle, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. And I'm so thankful that God is God who meets us in that place of sorrow. Paul and Brad are such winsome ambassadors for Jesus. Thank you for being so vulnerable and sharing that.

    We don't have to imagine what God is like. The only true God is revealed in Jesus Christ! Thank you!

      Yet, imaginative prayer where we imagine encounters with Jesus could be a powerful tool to experience God.

    Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, speak but the word & my soul will be healed. This was what I was taught in cataclysm.
    I swallowed that hook, line, & sinker. For years & years of loathing myself to the point of being unable to look myself in the eyes when I saw myself in the mirror, & 30+ years of suicidal ideation.

      I am so sorry that happened to you. Thank God the church is waking up to how damaging some of the theology can be psychologically to people. Blessings and peace to you, John.

    #37 here.. I’ve been searching for the real truth for years and I love the journey. Your header with all of the words representing the doors of which we walk through is “ really cool “.....

      (RealTruth) I don’t wanna sound too kooky but, if “Faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for and the EVIDENCE of things not seen” we should be able to find unmistakable and substantial amounts of substance and evidence. What if the 66 books written by over 40 different authors across a time span of thousands of years is really an integrated message system from outside our time domain? The basic answer for most who are involved in Christianity is “Jesus is the real truth” too basic for my crazy way of thinking 🤔

      @@w.jackvancreaser365 What is the substantial amount of evidence for the claim that the Bible is an "integrated message system"? I'm not really sure what that means. How is this different from the traditional view that the scriptures are inspired by God to communicate in certain ways to human beings?

    43:03 Hello - "in [Jesus] was life, and the life was the light of humanity... that gives light to every human being." Thank you, brothers! The obstacle is the massive lies too many of us were taught almost from the cradle (creating still more victims again and again).
    Btw, I've never heard or conceived of Adam's separation (or sense of being alone in the garden) as the first sign of Adam's 'fall' from grace - brand-new to me, correct to assume this is Paul's discovery?

    • @OpentoTruth
      @OpentoTruth  3 роки тому

      Erich, I'm so glad you found this valuable.
      I would doubt that the idea is original with Paul, though it would be much different from traditional account where "sin" enters the world in Genesis 3, not 2.

    • @erichbrough6097
      @erichbrough6097 3 роки тому

      @@OpentoTruth His theory is certainly interesting - the opening chapters of Genesis are curious and a bit puzzling, offering up two (somewhat conflicting) narratives of our human creation, one with "male and female" given authority over creation (and an apparently vegan diet), the other where a solitary "man" is put in charge of a specially designed garden, and the first woman created later to be his partner.
      It is an interesting interpretation of a mysterious and sometimes confounding narrative.

    • @OpentoTruth
      @OpentoTruth  3 роки тому +1

      @@erichbrough6097 A number of scholars explain the differences in Genesis 1 and 2 as representing different version of the story from different traditions within Jewish thinking. It is possible that the traditions emphasized different things and we weren't meant to read it as one flowing narrative.
