It frustrates me to see Kobe get skipped over in GOAT conversations. The amount of energy and focus this man put into the game of basketball to be the best is unmatched by anyone. To this day I’m still inspired to do anything in my life hearing Kobe speak about anything. Solidified GOAT after this video hands down. Two way killer who was going to give you 40 that night and still hold you under 5 points on the other end. No one can match the level Kobe is at for me ever.
I mean, over MJ? A man who was consistently the scoring leader AND defensive player candidate each year, in a league where defenders could be far more physical? Kobe is phenomenal. But MJ is the still the standard.
The way he explains the Triangle, Game Plans and Strategies in such an intellectual way just makes me feel that the whole Basketball world (including fans and the future players of the game) was robbed from the knowledge that this man can give. There are so many things that Mamba can STILL do and STILL contribute in this game. We miss you Kobe!
I’m so glad that Kobe is willing to talk about his career and drop knowledge . He is such an intelligent man , Iverson is my favorite player of all time but Kobe inspires me more than anyone , he is my idol
Bruh I love how petty Kobe is "I would never let the Nuggets win a playoff series because George Karl wouldn't play me in the 4th Quarter of the 1998 all star game" lmao
Nothing new. Plenty of that during his career. Kobe wasn't a player to forgive, much less forget, anything he perceived as disrespect. If you did something to him he'd make sure he'd come back at you and make you bleed for it. The best instance wasn't the nuggets nor George Karl. He destroyed the Nuggets in the playoffs he matched up against them. Had Karl not been the coach, he'd been out on a mission to destroy them anyway - it's playoffs mentality after all, right?. Of course that little extra motivation being there would spice things up but I don't think he'd played with any less focus had it been any other coach. But the best instance... see. He DESTROYED the Mavericks in 05/06 scoring 62 in three quarters. In a freakin' game played in DECEMBER, not in playoff contetion, not in the off season...but when it wasn't even the middle of the regular season. Dude scored more points in three quarters than the whole other team collectively. He dropped **62 points in 32 minutes** He was everywhere. He was making fools out of everyone in the Mavs. They tried everything to stop him. Double teams, triple teams, shoving, pushing, EVERYTHING, he didn't care, he went on dropping points. And he was playing for an awful Lakers team against the eventual finalists of the NBA - it wasn't like playing a group of tanking morons taking it easy. It was savagery on a scale rarely seen before or after. People talk all the time about Toronto and the 81pts game. I saw that game live. I swear he'd gone for 90 had he played the fourth quarter, but instead he chose to sit down and rest for the remainder of the game. For me it was his best scoring performance ever. Dirk Nowitzki rates it as the best individual performance he's ever witnessed on a basketball court. The reason?. The Mavs was coached by Avery Johnson, but one of his assistants was Del Harris. Del Harris was Kobe's coach in LA for his two first pro seasons, the guy who was benching him most of the time on the first one, and didn't play him as much as he should have on the 2nd one. And Bryant dropped 62 effing points in three effin' quarters of a regular season game (not playoffs - regular season) on them because of his beef with an **ASSISTANT COACH** on the other team who had not put him as a starter on his two first pro years in LA. Something that had happened **8 years before**. I'm not sure if it was pettyness. I'd rather say that Kobe would settle his scores against you no matter what, no matter how, and not matter how long it'd take him to do it - but he'd see them settled. That's something I actually admire on that cat. But come on...tearing up your team, outscoring it in three quarters, because you are it's ASSISTANT COACH who didn't start him 8 YEARS EARLIER?... that's revenge taken to some ludicrous levels XD
On CHRIST... This is legendary, the respect they have for Kobe is unprecedented, for me it's how most 80's and 90's kids feel about Kobe you don't have to be a fan but you had to respect Kobe! Dudes work ethic is one of a kind.
Kobe was a true definition of excellence, articulate, humble , relentless , curious, god fearing man , great dad , great husband and fucking rich. RIP my brother until we meet again 🙏🏾🙏🏾
“Accidental Basketball” - I knew there was something fundamental that I disliked about today’s basketball, but I didn’t have a succinct term to describe it. Thanks, Kobe B. Bryant!!
@@saxking101 ? That's by design, which is why spacing/shooting is the most important aspect of the game today. The Triangle takes advantage of bigger men being able to operate the post and passing across while giving the guards space to make a move or shoot, but a modern four out also does this except it is more oriented to shoot threes and layups.
Jae Choi by design? You can’t anticipate if the receiver is a high or low 3pt shooter. You just hope they’ll have a good enough look to knock it down. That’s not planning that’s just pick up basketball
D Miles is surprisingly good at interviewing and his voice tone and trajectory while changing subjects asking questions transitionally lol 👌 or am I buggin

Man I really didn't appreciate Kobe bro. I watched this man for 20 years, and just appreciate him at the end of his career. This man preaching the gospel.
Man this shit started with that damn AAU ball. These weaklings just rely on their fancy dribbles and athleticism which caused them to commit so many TOs, overused body mechanics ending in injuries. No structure and they make it difficult for themselves. Those stuff they learn from AAU ending up carrying in college thinking they know enough for one year playing there then in the pros where they don’t last long.
DMiles asking great questions. MJ and Kobe are the 2 greatest players I’ve ever seen. The NBA has never seen two players with the offensive and defensive arsenal of these two.
Aaron Lucas dude is better than I expected he just lacks a little bit in confidence judging by how he pauses when asking questions. Once he gets over that he could certainly be a basketball analyst on FS1. He is certainly better than Damon Jones.
This is hands down the best show on UA-cam. Could you guys try to switch it up and interview at least one coach this season?, like Popovich, Doc Rivers, J. Kidd, T. Lue, Fisdale, etc.?
19:08 At this point he talks about how he had to get stronger to compete. I told my dad years ago that I noticed how much stronger Kobe looked after the air balls that he was shooting. This statement confirmed what I already knew. RIP Kobe!

Ironically I met him early January when he paid for everyone in the inner city to see this movie called Just Mercy. Never thought I’m a million years he’d be gone a few weeks later
I actually saw him and the girls at a pizza place in Newport Beach. We were standing in line and they came in right behind us. They were as normal as could be. Very beautiful family, but normal. They hung out a couple minutes in line- didn't ask for any special treatment- and decided they'd go try some place else. Nobody bothered them or flipped out or anything. I SURE AS HELL wanted to talk to him, but it was clear it was family time and I thought it was cool that everyone respected that.

He can be your GOAT, he's not the GOAT of basketball though
Kobe is basically the Michael Jordan of the 2000s. Lets just agree they were both top level players
@@Las-yv5id Facts bro.
jaccbolton and it’s Kawhi Leonard now. He’s the closest thing to Jordan and Kobe now. Especially Jordan...
Kobe’s interviews alone are what make him 🐐
Sound Of Cannae no brain detected alert

But come on...tearing up your team, outscoring it in three quarters, because you are it's ASSISTANT COACH who didn't start him 8 YEARS EARLIER?... that's revenge taken to some ludicrous levels XD
ramjb oh it’s competition and etc but there is a level of pettiness that has to be taken into consideration
George Parker Facts bro. Compete
Latrell Hassell nah. Petty is for excuse makers. Every head knows when they do somebody dirty. There is no momentary blindness. Reap what you sow

“Accidental Basketball” - I knew there was something fundamental that I disliked about today’s basketball, but I didn’t have a succinct term to describe it. Thanks, Kobe B. Bryant!!
soaky1 exactly
Lol Kobe is one of the best to ever do it, but kick and penetration isn't accidental at all
Jae Choi accidental as is you don't plan who is there to receive the kick out. Someone is just there
@@saxking101 ? That's by design, which is why spacing/shooting is the most important aspect of the game today. The Triangle takes advantage of bigger men being able to operate the post and passing across while giving the guards space to make a move or shoot, but a modern four out also does this except it is more oriented to shoot threes and layups.
Jae Choi by design? You can’t anticipate if the receiver is a high or low 3pt shooter. You just hope they’ll have a good enough look to knock it down. That’s not planning that’s just pick up basketball
