- Tribute to and story of the man who brought Southampton up from the depths of League 1 to the Premier League in less than two years, infusing the team with the sort of determination, character and style that had been missing from the south coast for many years. Nigel's enthusiasm, hard work, optimism, belief and spirit will never be forgotten by Saints fans around the world. We wish him the very best for the future. He will be missed.
Note: While nearly all of us feel deeply shocked by the decision to dismiss Adkins in light of all he has achieved, this isn't the time to turn against the club, new manager or players. We must learn from what has happened to Chelsea at home this season in light of some fans' hatred of Benitez. The only way forward is to accept, move on and offer full support as we have done all season so that the club we love may continue to progress.
I'm still ashamed of what my club heirarchy did to Nigel. He was a class act and after what he did for the club he deserved much better.
He’s quickly becoming a legend in Hull now too :)

Thank you for composing this. Southampton fan in the US (Chicago) who came aboard during Koeman's first year when I started following the EPL. Got my Tadic jersey as soon as I fell in love with the team. I was aware of their history, but it was very nice to watch the footage of how they got back.
Southampton will go up and up and up. Truer words have never been said.

As he is from Birkenhead, he started as a player at Tranmere Rovers ... and now "he has come, back home" to Birkenhead as manage at Tranmere Rovers !.
5 days on!!! Still so shellshocked and cant understand Cortese, not sure I ever will!! Surely it should be upto the fans to decide on managerial ins and outs always has been as I remember "We want Branfoot out"!! etc etc, as for Nigel what a guy we will sorely miss you, your unswaying optimism and hard work.. WE LOVE YOU NIGEL WE DO! WE LOVE YOU NIGEL WE DO! WE LOVE YOU NIGEL WE DO! OH NIGEL WE LOVE YOU.... Thank you just aint enough... GUTTED you deserved the opportunity to take us up or down!
Legend, just watching this before leaving for the Everton game with a big lump in my throat. Going to chant Adkins name till i cant sing any more, its the least this great man deserves.
His note he left in the dressing room left a lump in my throat when reading. Simply the best manager the club has ever had, shame i can say the same about the chairmen...
