I had heard that the food of Jerusalem was extraordinary but this episode showed a far more diverse food scene than I expected. Food is a blessing that crosses all borders and barriers.
Israeli food in general is extremely diverse and very fresh, fruits and veg especially literally only hours from the fields and orchards, and home-made. Processed foods are available, but nearly everyone cooks "from scratch" most of the time. Alas, in recent years a number of American chains like KFC and McDonalds have come here -- and generally don't do well. Starbucks, Wendy's, Carvel, all folded as we found them overpriced and not very good. Jewish immigrants from all over the world bring their ethnic foods with them, and some have become completely identified with Israel's own "cuisine".
shopping and eating in Machane Yehuda is amazing! the sounds, the smells, the people, the noise..., the TASTES! There's a fruit shake shop that is wicked awesome. All kinds of fruit and herb combinations blended :)

Food in Israel is amazing. Love the fusion of all the cultures.
7:45 chimichurri with jalapenos, a local falafel place here in the midwest will put this on everything (if you want it). I assumed it was a commonly used condiment in Jerusalem but called something else. Idk, I have no idea, I just know that it's good.
I’m lucky to have been to Israel a few times. Jerusalem is absolutely amazing. I was in the Golan Heights which was incredible, and Haifa, Ashdod, Tel Aviv, Nazareth, the River Jordan, Sea of Galilee, Capernaum and Tiberias. But there’s nothing quite like walking the Via Dolorosa in the old city.... the people, the sights, sounds, and smells..... so incredibly amazing. Something everyone should experience at least once in their life.
@@jonahs92 Thank you! I would absolutely love to go back, such a beautiful country! Since I work on a cruise ship, I’m sure I’ll be lucky enough to get back to Israel, when ships return to service! 🙂
When I lived there, the boys used to come to our work with the still warm bageli balanced on large trays on their heads. We were given a small paper cone filled with zatar which we dipped our bageli into after each bite. The smell of the bread is unforgettable. Some people dipped the end of the bread into olive oil before the zatar.
Wow, what a place! It’s like a different world there. All the bread looks amazing, especially the thicker bread sautéed in a pan with a crisp exterior.

Way to go Paul! Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece! It’s A Good Thing. Shalom
You by far Paul are the most fun to watch and make my heart happy. I loved this series and the perfect joy you have in the people showing you the delights of their country. So beautiful so thank you for sharing this journey to parts of the world I’ll never visit. The friendliness and love shown is heartfelt.
The lady In Aiyan Kerim (her name: Baliah Yah?), with the Yemeni bread
... so cool. What a beautiful woman. What a a warm smile.
I just found your shows. I enjoyed the one's I've seen very much; I've been watching for 3 hours.
Thank you!
After the end of the first day on the video i was so warm and fuzzy i couldn't recognise myself. It was so lovely i could not believe the good vibes i was getting from those people in Jerusalem. That is probably the first time i have ever felt that or said that on a UA-cam comment.
Food in Israel is amazing. Love the fusion of all the cultures.
you mean palestine
7:45 chimichurri with jalapenos, a local falafel place here in the midwest will put this on everything (if you want it). I assumed it was a commonly used condiment in Jerusalem but called something else. Idk, I have no idea, I just know that it's good.
@@thegrandmaster2517 keep crying
I am a bread baker. I just experienced a while new world of breads to bake. Thanks Paul!
That's what I love about food that they highlight in this episode, everybody has to eat and food brings the world cultures together.
You're welcome back in Israel anytime, my friend! 💚
@@jonahs92 Thank you! I would absolutely love to go back, such a beautiful country! Since I work on a cruise ship, I’m sure I’ll be lucky enough to get back to Israel, when ships return to service! 🙂
Great video! Ancient local and modern global influences give the Jerusalemite foods a unique flavor. Each twist to a traditional dish is a one off!
Injera is one of my favorite breads ever! Love the tang, texture, and way it compliments so many tasty foods, like Ethiopian. YUM!
I love Injera, too!
This makes me want to live in Jerusalem. They seem to ALL GET ALONG!
@@umpqua-4freedom436 The reality is far from what the eyes can see..
Even though it is beautiful
When I lived there, the boys used to come to our work with the still warm bageli balanced on large trays on their heads. We were given a small paper cone filled with zatar which we dipped our bageli into after each bite. The smell of the bread is unforgettable. Some people dipped the end of the bread into olive oil before the zatar.
Wow, what a place! It’s like a different world there. All the bread looks amazing, especially the thicker bread sautéed in a pan with a crisp exterior.
Hello Dana....I would love to know you more better if you don’t mind?
@ Christopher Hansen
Ah....I don’t know who you are.
This was such a true to life video. I live in Israel and found some amazing new places to try. I also found the whole thing to be authentic and honest. Thanks for this. Wow you are such a good baker. I wish my braided bread was that good. WOW.

Wow, how fabulous this trip to Jerusalem! And how fabulous are you Paul? You make the whole trip so exciting. Thank you for taking us along! I want to visit everywhere you go. 🤗
I just can't understand why you only have so little views and subs, compared to other 'food shows', your production quality is very high and your energy is infectious!
This show made my day. So happy and fun. Food looks amazing.
I came to this video with 0 expectations and knowing almost anything about Jerusalem and its culture. Now all I want to do, is to travel there and taste everything 😍✨ thank you!!
Mr. Paul you are my favorite character in the culinary world I watch a lot of your shows and just relish the grace you have for the professionalism and the way you convey the show no matter where in the world you are just amazing!
I ate so much sabidzch when I was in Iraq! And if I wasn't eating that I was eating falafel on samoon bread. When I was in Jerusalem I ate my way across the city and went home 10 pounds heavier after just 10 days! Oink oink me. 🐖 That Jerusalem "bagel" tastes and looks like Turkish "semit" sold all over Istanbul. Yum.
Jerusalem, I am coming! Such a wonderful city, loaded with so many wondeful people. And not to mention the foods, getting hungry!
Love it! Makes me want to spend at least 3 weeks in Jerusalem - enjoying the food, history, & culture.
I have never before had my mouth water so much while watching a video about baking. Thanks Paul.
Man who knew Jerusalem had such cuisine :O must go there!!!
17:07, look at those rays of Light!!! Big day today and Tomorrow! I just did literally say to my daughter that I hoped and dreamed of going to Jerusalem...

Very nice to meet you all! Thank Que!
Thank you Paul and Team for this wonderful episode of delicious food and wonderful people! :)
Awesome video, I've had friends in the 70's that left Bklyn and moved to Israel and never looked back. I praying one day soon to go, there's no place like it on this earth- and where my Lord and Savior will be returning very soon- I can't wait!! 🙌🤗💜🌷
Food brings people together...And this is a beautifully made, presented and edited piece to camera.
I enjoy all the places and foods that Paul shares with us. He goes to places that most of us will never see. The different foods are super great.
Visiting Jerusalem in Jan 2020 (before covid) changed my life & worldview. Loved it!
Come back to Israel soon! 💚
I also visited Jerusalem for the first time in 2020, and I loved it so much that I truly wish I could live there.

Fantastic Jerusalem! Such a wonderful show Chef Hollywood. Thank you and I'm looking forward in seeing more.:D
Hello Barbara....I would love to know you more better if you don’t mind?
Absolutely delightful.❤
I'm learning from your videos that the truly secret of each city bake is actually: love, tradition, passion and pride for their bakes.
Oh man I needed this. Thanks Gd, thanks algorithm and thanks Paul. I never heard of Paul but he's charming. And this video is just full of ideas (i have a wood fired pizza oven) and warmth and smiles and beautiful scenery.
i have run out of Ramsey stuff to watch, I think I found my next foodie binge
If you like this try Rick Stein. He has several series, all very good.
@@stephenobrien5909 Thanks for the advice I'm 11 in on his Cornwall series and did a few of his Italy/Sicily BBC Docuseries. Excellent choice thanks again :)

My son will be there in March along with a church group, I'll send this to him. Looks good!
I am a Christian Native American and I want to go to Jerusalem! Is there room for one more?
I live in Jerusalem and even though we're vaccinating quite quickly I think March is too early. Summer or fall might be good though! I'm sure he'll love it.
You are first class TV personality. Truly bakery lover. Wow
Very well done in presenting the foods and their origins! Definitely gonna watch more of your show and would love to have you back in jerusalem
The first drink "sachlab", means orchid, which is one of the ingredients.
And most of the places you visited were kosher.
I love that flat bread! So easy to make! I cook it in a dry pan on the stove, comes out great!
Hello Cynthia....I would love to know you more better if you don’t mind?
