+Steven Rose Quartz Start slow... very slow!.... Then work up to doing it more quickly once you can remember the shapes a bit better. But my advice for almost anything music-y is to start slow!

Just practice, I'm afraid. The more you play, you should develop callouses on your fingertips so it won't hurt as much. But these may take a little while to develop!
