i would love nothing more than just a live stream playing nothing but hours and hours on end of barbershop quartet music, but only the oldies music, none of the new stuff that exists nowadays where they sing more recent songs.

This is brilliant! I love to hear real ringing chords, and the swipes. This is REAL barbershop.

B s q formed in local barber shops tradionally the customer client was the lead and the barber's were the temor alto etc then it got to where musical groups formed the honey mooners tissue paper and a comb gi gen pass time age of innocence this was pre rock n roll and really the first groups ranging in 3 4 5 piece .

The Town & Country 4 had a very unique blend and sound - Jack Elder is an underrated baritone, in my opinion. The quartet sounds “old” - maybe due to their song choices and Larry Autenreith’s lead sound. I’m not sure. Regardless, I enjoy listening to them!

All of those groups sound old but they were the geniuses of the time and progression. What do you expect for 60 years ago. Larry Autenreith did not have a clarion lead. Originally he was the baritone and switched with Jack in 58. He had a brighter lead sound on the 59 live album which actually complimented my dad on tenor. After they got in the medals, he started trying to change his sound when he didn't have to. However, he was a technician, premier arranger, and brains of the quartet.

Old = better. Today's barbershop champions are good but not as great as in the days when the men had more diverse and distinctive voices (and still produced a phenomenal blend!)

Recording cuts off after #9, Bundle of Old Love Letters - never gets to the Playtonics.

2:31 is my favorite. I can't seem to find the audio on its own though...
