Thoroughly enjoyed watching the Fizzy Boy video . Brought back good memories of 1977 when I had my Fizzy . Rode it to Somerset and back to family home in Kent . My brother than had it and he rode it to Scotland staying at Youth Hostels along the way. Great rides !

I am so glad I found this channel. How good it is to travel back in time to the days of smelly two stroke and screaming 50cc power.

Great to see this video, thanks for making it, I had this exact bike in 1976 it was the fastest bike in my town, I did 9,000 miles in nine months and went through one clutch and a new set of piston rings. Although I can't believe i did it, I was once following a lorry two feet behind and the speedo was bouncing off of the 70mph, how it didn't blow up I don't know, glad I am still around to tell the story. My favourite ride was coming down a hill near Southend (Bread and cheese hill) I could get it to over 60, great days

This takes me back to my school days in the 70's, when a jammy git in my class rolled up one day on a brand new Tiger Cross. He had well to do parents who pampered him & bought him the best of everything for his birthdays. The rest of us couldn't have been more envious if he'd pulled up in a Lamborghini Countach : )

I skipped mopeds and saved HARD, buying a new 1977 kh 250. Luckily most of my mates still had fs1e's, so I had to ride at their speed . Thinking back probably a good thing for a new motorcyclist.

1976, p reg. I was 17. £110 but mine was a red garelli rekord. Fast, noisy and nice big petrol tank. No battery. Magnetto. And the smell of the two stroke. Always had to remember to mix oil in the tank. Fantastic start to my biking days. Football and gears on opposite sides to most other bikes.

Barney kills me every time. He is on the chair while you are on the floor. He's the leader of the pack. I never heard of these mopeds. My dad died when I was young, my mom wouldn't allow any type of moped or motorcycle because of dangers involved. I lived a sheltered life. I had a neighbor with a BSA Lightning. Another friend in high school had a Norton Commando. I envied them. I like these vids too Martin.
Say hi to everyone at home
    Brian .

    • @retrorestore

Cheers Brian, Barney loves like a lord lol. These were mostly sold to the European market and were very big here in the UK. They sell for silly money now as people who had them when they were young want to relive their youth.

Aaah when we were 16 .i was very fortunate too have had a good selection of mopeds when i was 16 in 1980 and had one of the best moped shops in nw london .specialiaing in italian bikes.which i was forever drooling over the fantic Gt super 6 malagutis and gileras and garellis. I owned a lovely agarati garreli tiger cross in black and red mat black exhaust and rare slide carb ,bit quicker then the tiger cross.57-60mph.then a puch monza supreme 6sl white stars and stripes. Then boring but nice suzuki ap 50 .still have photos .miss the 2 strokes.shame china dont reproduce them .they would make a killing

The reliability of sparking plugs in 2-stroke engines has improved since the 1970s mainly thanks to unleaded petrol. There was a problem called "whiskering" in which a filament of lead oxide would grow between the electrodes and short-circuit them, causing the engine to misfire or stop altogether. If you took the plug out,, pushed your thumb nail between the electrodes and then refitted the plug you could be on your way in minutes, but it was a right pain. With unleaded petrol, which was reintroduced in the mid 1980s, this problem does not happen.

Had a Fantic 6 speed back in the 70's....a real pig to start....you would end up knackered a sweating...Jeez!

    • @cedriclynch
      @cedriclynch Рік тому

@@g4obb It should not have been like that, mine used to be very easy to start. If you had the SHA14 carburettor (with the choke lever that latched down and was released by momentarily applying full throttle) you had to give a certain amount of throttle for starting from cold with the choke on, and you might have needed three or four kicks; with the SHB19 carburettor (with choke plunger, usually operated by a cable) you had to keep the throttle fully closed for starting and the engine would almost always start first kick.

Owned one and they were lethal..
off nights I fell asleep on it at a fork in the road and that was the start of some 18 falls and one garrotting where some one put a steel wire between 2 trees as we roamed around in gangs of up to 25 in Dinnington ..
If falling off was nt enough to kill you... there was always someone who wanted to just for buzzing by them !

Remember , these bikes years back . Was never allowed a bike my grandad would never allow it.
When dad left he was the father figure. So what he said went pretty much. Mind you he was smashed,
Really bad on his bike back in the 50's . So can see his reasoning. Mind you I might have to get a 50cc
Bike of some kind. As for Barney he is a great looking dog , a real gun dog . You should show him ,
