it's WAY weirder than just a loop spoilers below: So FLKR, the one with spears, is a powerful psychic artificial human. The facility is built on top of SOMETHING called the Red Eye, and making contact with it apparently put FLKR in contact with Ariane, and through her, LSTR, the player character. Except it's not the one we play as, but the one in the memory segment, LSTR-512. FLKR's memories and personality are slowly being overwritten by LSTR's, including LSTR's feelings for Ariane. Ariane is psychic, and resonating with FLKR from within her cryo chamber. Their combined psychic powers are acting like a gateway for the Red Eye to overwrite reality with its own, bit by bit. Within the Leng facility, there IS a timeloop, but only for the people, as the world gets more and more corrupted and the gestalt and replikant personnel are affected one by one. ADLR's diaries are how we even learn there's a loop, and also that it doesn't affect objects, only minds. LSTR is not subject to the time loop, instead, every LSTR you see is a NEW LSTR who has ALSO been overwritten by LSTR-512, and all of them have arrived at the facility on their own to try and rescue Ariane. This is why some have the blue and white armor, and some just have the technician orange. They're all different LSTRs that have been rewritten into being *Ariane's Elster* by the bioresonance, and it's why ADLR keeps killing them without them getting back up: they're not FROM Leng in the first place, so they aren't corrupted by the Eye's sickness. There's plenty of theories as to what else is happening, who the dreamer is, and more, but that's what we can reasonably say happened.
I haven't played this game. Can someone tell me what the deal is with with the house/tree/mountain combo that flashes quickly at 1:25? Is it important or just a cool thing for the video?
The same painting was re-painted & re-interpreted several times by the original artist, which connects with the theme that runs through the game about lives echoing through different individuals.
