There's a Korean movie that combines animation and CG which I watched many many years ago and really stuck with me. Its called "Wonderful Days"/"Sky Blue." 'Wonderful Days' is like the original version, whereas 'Sky Blue' is a western edit kinda thing. So, up to you which one you watch, maybe both? haha Well worth watching :)

I'm trucking through the first season. This is absolute genius. This was completely my childhood. Raised in a mega church. Even the structure of the Misbehavin song was exactly like these folks, Micky and Becky Moore who traveled much like Billy and Amiee Leigh. It blew my mind. There's a total love and loathe of the culture
They could have used one more “brilliant”. So the characters screw up a lot but when they’re in a “God zone” that’s when things happen I.e. “God” gets involved. When Jessie prays Gideon shows up at the door. When Billy and Tiff are being hunted and Billy prays, Eli shows up with a gun. And my favorite, Kelvin is a klutz in front of Dot Nancy at first but at the youth center where “all praise be to He” he’s the master of the trampoline. Just another reason it’s an awesome show.

I only recently discovered and finished this show. My goodness what a fantastic premise. John Goodman as a preacher is something that I'm surprised hasn't been done several more times in the past. He's perfectly suited to that role. Danny McBride seems to play the same sort of character in pretty much everything he does. That being said, that character being a member of a prominent church owning family is hilarious. When he says that line about how he thought confessing would help but instead he completely fucked up his entire life I laughed so hard I took a coughing fit. And Judy Gemstone and her husband are total wild cards, I love it. I have had so many wtf laughs from them that I lost count. Top notch show. I recommend it to everyone now. Edit: Let me add, "Misbehaving" was stuck in my head for a few days after hearing it for the first time
Omg they knocked it out the Park with this one I just Lovvvvvve this show it’s Hilarious and it’s the highlight of Hypocrite Christian and how everything in between it’s genius 4 stars ⭐️
The most brilliant aspect of this show is that they are a family of pastors yet you could put this same family as the head of any other business and it would still work! It amazingly works as a parody of an evangelical family yet displays what any of us would face if our own families were multimillionaires!!
This show was amazing, the only thing I’d say I’d instead of the “muscle man” arc, i wish they kept showing the youth ministry. Speaking from experience, church youth group kids r some of the most evil, funny bad ass kids alive lol they coulda done a lot with that premise

This show is fantastic. Watched the first season with my pops and we cried laughing our asses off. If you liked all of this show you should definitely check out "This is The End" with James Franco, Danny McBride, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogan, and Jay Baruchel. It's got a very similar comedic vibe to it and it's just out of control. Highly recommend 👌

I think the joke with Keith and the guy from workaholics is that he might even not be closeted he’s just that oblivious to it, But I would actually really like it if they made it official that would be an interesting storyline but that doesn’t seem like what they’re going to do for season two. It seems to be the brothers fighting over who will take John Goodman’s place because he’s getting old
I'm catching a lot during the rewatch. One thing I missed before is that when Jesse shows the video Chad's junk is projected on his face the whole time
It did seem to wrap up very neatly. It is possible that the creators didn't know, by the time they wrapped shooting, that they would be renewed for a 2nd season. How many times have we watched a show that wasn't renewed that left us hanging.
I'm not even gonna hold ya'll. I've been hearing Michael Burns Phd doing so many podcasts and videos, I thought he killed Jared and threatened the staff so everyone just went along with it. I hate that Uncle Baby Billy's son was never extrapolated upon. I and many others think Keefe would be a good fit to who the prodigal son becomes (father is a clear cut grifter that sugar coats everything with god's will, something a lot of people who turn to satanism can identify with in their own upbringing) but as you say, the show was 9 episodes, that probably should've been 12
What about Uncle Baby Billy's son Harmon from the flashback episode? He was definitely overshadowed in that episode by Missbehavin', but I thought he was fantastic. I don't think he ever says an actual word... just odd, yet hilarious faces and gibberish. And then where is he in the present day story? Is he actually Keef? Another thing that wasn't wrapped up (at least in my mind) was the third person in the blackmailing trio, Lucy. What ended up happening to her after she left? I was expecting her to come back for vengeance on Scotty and Gideon for dropping her down into that pit, but she ended up being somewhat of a Chekhov's Gun. Speaking of Chekhov's Gun, I loved Kelvin but I'd say the ONLY thing that was "meh" for me was the storyline with Dot Nancy. If her storyline's purpose was to bring Keef back to Satanism, I feel like that could have been done better. It just didn't seem to fit having her go to the satanist club, and I just feel like they could have don't something better with the Kelvin/Keef relationship. (Also I feel like the whole depiction of Satanists as Cybergoths was kind of odd...not that they have to be mutually exclusive, I guess.)
So I have one thing to say: If you haven't watched The Righteous Gemstones, You are seriously missing out. The writing is impeccable and the acting is just so hilarious. You end up rooting for the horrible people who often land themselves in the worst situations because of their utter stupidity which they gained from growing up with want of nothing and in the precipice of upstanding moral status merely using it for personal gain as a business venture under the oh-so-indestrucible guise of higher meaning and wisdom from the man upstairs. John Goodman, Danny McBride(ALSO CREATOR AND MAIN WRITER OF THE SHOW), Adam Devine and even Eric Andre appear in the show and wow is it a ride!!! 10/10

Judy and Bj are BeeJu. Pronounced Bijoux. There is a ton to resolve. What is going to happen with that new preacher? Uncle Baby Billy is starting an empire so where is that going to go? What will be Judy’s position in the church? There are just so many places to go.
I'm a long time fan of Danny McBride and his past series. The Righteous Gemstones is funny but there's so many shots of guys ball sacks and packages it turned me off the series. The final straw was the scene at the satanic nightclub with the guy completely encased in a red suit with his dong out. Dam, enough already. Stopped watching then.
This show was terrible. Every character is annoying, narcisstics, unlikable, and an asshole. And they stay that way for 2 seasons. I watched season 1 of my own free will, but had to watch season 2 because i lost a bet and they knew how much I groaned through season 1, lol. Every time you get a hint that you care about the show, it insists on strangling that moment again and again and again. Great actors and concept with some truly funny moments that arent worth the endless babbling terrible unwatchable dialogue. The characters do not grow and they're all hateable. There is no foil. It doesn't work. They were all terrible before Amy Leigh died. She didn't really make them better at all. As soon as you think a character has an arc, they go right back to being unwatchable jerks again. These writers and directors don't have any idea how to pace a movie or raft a joke; they just ad lib and jab everyone incessantly with every single line. Everything in this show ends up as nihilistic sarcasm. Also, cursing every other word and being gross isn't a joke. It is just lazy. A toilet baby isn't a joke, it is just gross for absolutely no reason. And the worst parts of this show are the scenes with Danny Mcbride, because all he does is babble sarcastic or sexual nonsense and shout, curse. The writers make it impossible for you to care about any of these mental patients. Stupid needs a foil. Jerks need a foil. Sarcasm needs a foil. Unless your audience is meant to be purely jerks and stupid sarcastic narcissitc mental patients.
It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia works without a foil. So did Seinfeld for the most part though I don't know if Seinfeld did it intentionality. Sunny almost certainly did. As for the rest...that's just, like, your opinion, man.

All those characters had many redeemable qualities and moral frameworks and conflicts and they didn't endless babble in curses. Most of the things they did were relatable every day things with some minor exaggerations. Only s few episodes went over the top. And every episode contained foils which exposed the inadequacies of either the leads or the guests. And most of the show was scripted with a purpose, not endless ad libs of meanspirited babbling and trades that all seems to be left in all the time in this show. Sometimes it results In a funny moment, but it is rarely worth the annoying imrov slog to get there.

Season 3 definitely ended in a way that was obviously meant to be a series finale so I was happy to see they will get a S4. 👏

Most of the things they did were relatable every day things with some minor exaggerations. Only s few episodes went over the top. And every episode contained foils which exposed the inadequacies of either the leads or the guests. And most of the show was scripted with a purpose, not endless ad libs of meanspirited babbling and trades that all seems to be left in all the time in this show. Sometimes it results In a funny moment, but it is rarely worth the annoying imrov slog to get there.
@bradojacko8247 Fair, and also I wasn't trying to be dismissive of your opinion either, just felt a Big Lebowski quote could be placed nicely even if the connection is only there because of one person in the show.
