“Hollywood, what a place it is! It is so far away from the rest of the world, so narrow.” -Del Rio . “How Maria Félix ate human flesh & liked it” ua-cam.com/video/SconeqWe2Fg/v-deo.html
Dolores Del Rio was one of my mom's favorite actresses. If it wasn't for her, Maria Felix, and Lupe Velez we wouldn't have actresses like Salma Hayek 🖤💐
Looks like Dolores was the first to say "Sprinkle Sprinkle" 😊 Sis was driving the men crazy. They always love the elegant, pretty girls who are hard to get.
"I am beautiful" is not narcissistic, we should all hear that from our own mouths daily. She was so wise beyond her years, best advice....and sadly nowadays we really do not appreciate elegance the way we used to. This elegant lady is the pride of Mexico....in fact any country would have felt that way if she was their representative...
Maria Felix more famous but turned down Hollywood because she didn’t feel respected. Maria went to France when she felt that scripts were better suited to her. For a long time there were only three roles for women in Hollywood. A bartender, the cabaret owner and a sex kitten type. Much like African Americans who have to work twice as hard to get respectable roles its the same for Latin people in Hollywood to this day.
Dolores and Rita had different backgrounds and upbringings. When Dolores had support from a wealthy family so she could have artistic liberty, Rita Hayworth was not in a position to negociate with producers on her art. She was marketed "all American" by Harry Cohn who forced her to dye her hair red and change hair implantation to make her pass as Irish American.
"Anytime You 'BREAK The MOLD' By 'BEING AUTHENTICALLY DIFFERENT', Then You're ALWAYS Going To 'Be CONSIDERED THREATENING' To 'ANY Aspect' In This WORLD...." Thanks for sharing, Karine! 💮🙏🏽😉👍🏼
Another amazing video. As a Hispanic I appreciate Dolores's fight. Agree I'm so sick & tired how myopic some people view others. Not everyone is ratched, dirty uneducated. 💐💐💐💐
Dolores was 16, and married a man 34 yrs old. She was just a teenager, and her husband was a older man. Her parents should have not let her do that. She went through alot of stuff with hollywood producers etc. Good video! God bless you, and everyone!🙏💜
I admire Dolores and María Félix from the golden age of Mexican cinema. 💐🌹 Hollywood relentlessly asked María to act in their movies, but María Félix declined them always. "Hollywood wants me to play an indigenous woman with all the stereotypes, bah! in my country of México I will play an indigenous woman-- in other countries I'm playing a queen or royalty". What a woman! ♡♡♡
I love the Mexican actresses from the golden age because they had dignity! Felix did not want to be disrespected by Hollywood and remained loyal to Mexican cinema throughout her whole life ❤
🖤🖤🖤 Delores del Rio was so beautiful and elegant! Good for her for not playing into negative stereotypes in Hollywood. Also Karine, I enjoy your documentary style stories so much and have learned a lot about so many classic stars and historical figures from you! You have a lovely speaking voice and interesting journalistic style, you have ‘star quality’ too!
Just in time for Hispanic Heritage Month. Delores also spoke up about the colorism Hispanics faced in Hollywood regarding roles in 1930's Lala Land! Good for her!
One of THE most beautiful women in cinema. Even Marlene Dietrich thought she was the most beautiful woman and that alone means a lot cause Dietrich was very judgy.🖤🖤🖤🖤

Beautiful done, commentary was fantastic. Thank you for introducing me to this beautiful actress, truly that must have been a glamorous time. Thank you!
Delores Del Rio was style and class. A role model for the most part for women of all races.Yes,she had 2 infamous affairs but Hollywood actors and actresses do live different lives and different rules seem to apply. Thanks Karine for this lovely bio on a lovely woman.
DOLORES DEL RÍO WAS ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR AND ACURATE ACRIZ BOTH SIDES: EU AND MEXICO, BUT IN THIS COUNTRY SHE PERFORMED A LOT OF GOOD PICTURES. BISAISES SHE WAS THE FOUNDER OF THE SHELTER OF THE CHILD OF ACTOR AND ACTRICES IN MEXICO. I ADMIRE HER EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR BEAUTY. AS MEXICAN, I VERY PROUD OF HAVING SUCH AND GREAT PERSONS AS DOLORES
Love her, I must comment because this gives the impression that she’s only of Spanish blood…..that while her mom’s lineage can be traced to Spanish nobility her mom was not Spaniard or pure European,,,much less her father. Dolores was of mixed blood , mestizo was the term used then ….like millions of Mexicans and like many of them even today, they may look white, even whiter, blue eyed blond haired even but the outer appearance does not disregard her mixed heritage..this is why she was intent on changing stereotypes of Mexicans…if not she’d have been like Demi Lovoto who claims she’s NOT of Mexican descent and that of Spanish from her dads side 🤡🙄….even her cousins from both her parents sides mentioned in the video are mestizo …it’s sad that it took decades for other Mexican actresses to get noticed and even in 2024 there are still far and few
You can tell the difference between a light skin mestizo and a Spaniard. Spaniards tend to have their eyes closer, round and hooded, the nose pointier, the features very fine and longish, the mouth small, the hair fine, and forehead high. Think Emilio Estevez. My great-grandfather from Asturias and my Dad look like Emilio who is from Galicia right next to Asturias and both celtic territories.
@@ChildrenoftheRepublic that is the most ignorant borderline racist comment …..my nose looks like hers and my mom is BLACK…are you going to dismiss my black ancestry because my MESTIZO and NOT Spaniard Dad has fine features? Good lord it’s 2024, you CANNOT tell a person’s who,e ethnicity by looks…you must be long in the tooth because no body born in recent decades would think like such. Look at Lynda Carter….by your same ignorance you’d say she was white too and disregard her very mestizo and actually more indigenous featured looking Mexican mom🙄🤡… and for the record there are “whiter” looking mestizo Mexicans in Mexico and the USA that Emilio Estevez…Mario Casas and Antonio Banderas are Spaniards and they don t look like what you describe “that you can tell” 🙄
I always wanted to know more about Delores . Thanks for the video. One question: why the black heart 🖤 that you asked us to put in comment section ? It usually means something unflattering.
I NEVER heard about the very beautiful Dolores actress until now only because the United States' Board OF Education Agency concealed this wonderful mexican woman from our history books
It’s unfortunately extremely tough to do so 😢 there’s not enough information on their lives or enough photos or footage to use for some of our icons. But I’ve done videos on our Haitian presidents and First Ladies and will do more on Haitian aristocrats throughout the globe ❤
She is so gorgeous. But she’s only 23. I’m going to give it a few more years because she has such a bright future ahead of her and so much more she’s going to accomplish ❤❤
I tell ya, it just goes to show no matter what race or background women came from back then they had it rough. Even when you think you're winning, you're not. One thing , we can take away from all the these amazing women is that they left their mark, that's for sure!
Una de las mejores actrices que Mexico a tenido. Que con sacrificio fue de las primeras en hacer el cross over con éxito. Toda una dama y señora, siempre mostrando una elegancia unica.
16 and 34 marriage is their culture and divorce was seamlessly faster. However here in America law makers what to make that a thing and a crime for even younger male or female children.
Yea she was exquisite. Her face was perfectly balanced. She had no bad angles for the camera. Orson Wells was never faithful to anyone. But you didn’t touch on her bisexuality. Good video.
I mean just wow 👌 👏 😍 shes beautiful and thanks for the story❤ "you wouldn't always agreed with her" exactly i think thats the point ppl missing with celebs their human 😉 because haters on the internet make everything into canceling a celeb for the tiny thing that sometimes we have no proof they did 😊if they were living in their time they could never understand because the older stars of Hollywood went through much worse than jlo blake brad leo jen aniston chris pratt robert downey jr etc 😂ppl today have no clue what these celebs go through much less trying to live their life

I believe Delores embodied the perfect female form, as defined by the entertainment industry, back then and now. Not to disparage her or anybody else, but the ultra-thin "ideal" female body type, at least, as far as I personally see things, looks riged, fragile, and a bit malnourished. Dolores Del Rio was one of my mom's favorite actresses. If it wasn't for her, Maria Felix, and Lupe Velez we wouldn't have actresses like Salma Hayek 🖤💐

It's fascinating that she can own her heritage and culture, but Rita Hayworth hid it.
Rita was Spanish, not Mexican
@@cocoaorange1 True. Either way, its sad she wasn't allowed to be herself. All the surgeries just to fit in.. just sad all the way around.
Rita’s father was apparently a sexual predator and had a lot to do with how she felt about men, her heritage and career.
Right???!?! And I think it's that reason why she got so much jealousy. Basics hate people who are living in their own truth and freedom (imo)
