Only Mario game where the villain is a 1000-year old demon's soul hellbent on complete genocide.
SPM has an interdimensional mastermind from an ancient clan of power magic users. Who merges with an interdimensional void mcguffin to devour the multiverse and commit omnicide.
Not to be that guy, but Dimentio wanted to destroy all reality.
And the Shroobs also wanted to commit genocide.

That’s a really good point actually! It’s a fantastic optional boss battle for sure.
I immediately noticed because I am a huge King Boo fan and the sounds stand out from normal Boo.
The atomic boo is a must fight because the lucky start badge is busted
Macho Grubba is definitely my favorite. The fight itself is so much fun cause he does so much, his boss theme is incredible and, from a personal standpoint, he was one of the first bosses I was able to beat damageless and one of the earliest bosses I learned to superguard almost perfectly against. Plus, he perfectly wrapped up my favorite chapter in the game, so he earned that first place.
And for a bonus story, the Shadow Queen is an incredibly notable boss for me. She kicked my rear at least 20 times when I was a kid on my first play through and, in a symbolic show, she was the first boss to give me a true game over in my first play through of the remake. She's a REAL boss, a tough one and it's a breath of fresh air for the Mario series.

Nah, the Lord Crump fight at the start of the game is the best no contest. 😂
I’m probably biased because I played SPM first, but I think Dimentio was a better twist villain and bounced very well of the sympathetic Count Bleck.
Shadow Queen is more like an ultimate evil who doesn’t have much a personality as much as she has power, and she doesn’t impact Grodus or Beldam’s characters all that well (tho physically she crippled Grodus BAD)

Macho grubba can either be a breeze or a complete menace to deal with due to his rng nature of his buffs.

Shadow Queen is definitely my favorite. The dark atmosphere and amazing yet eerie music set the tone perfectly, and she’s just really intimidating too which I like. She really feels like a true threat and a true final boss.

I love ttyd bosses, the only complaint is they are on the easier side. But that made me love the shadow queen, she is the only fight (excluding postgame mind you) that got me a game over.

Aww, you combined the dragons? My ranking for them would be for them:
First: bonetail- while not being the hardest super boss anymore, it’s amazing, and I love it having all sorts of status effects
Second: hooktail- a great character carried by a great chapter. The badge helps, and so does the sus dialogue.
Third: gloomtail- cool, and the mega laser is awesome
I love them a lot! Yeah, I combined them as they were all like 5, 6, 7 haha! And practically said the same thing 😂
Mine was HookTail, Bonetail and Goomtail!
I personally enjoyed the Prince Mush fight most; the need to either use Super Guards or 12 Power Rush Badges with 5 HP and use Power Bounce. And he is the closes to being like The Master from the OG Paper Mario. Also, I prefer Rawk Hawk over Macho Grubba given the cool moves and more awesome music. I also would have preferred to see Smorg higher on the list. And Whacka was a disappointment IMO; he felt easy compared to the other "Super bosses."

I love the Shadow Queen fight because of its uniqueness. We never get to fight Peach, let alone a possessed Peach, and her apperance and presence is amazing. As someone who grew up with M&L instead of PM, it was refreshing to see Peach become possessed instead of Bowser (which happened twice lol), since it's something I could never imagine them doing. I wish Shadow Queen Peach could have showed her dominance a bit more before fighting her just to make it more climatic, but what we got was epic.
Can you do the same ranking with but 64 and Super Paper Mario Bosses

fun fact: the only game where you fight bloopers as a regular enemy as well as a boss enemy is super paper mario.

I think all variations/repeated bosses should be ranked separately. Mainly bc you are a little inconsistent with this. Also, the context with the repeated bosses and variations are usually a bit different. But I know it is your list, so obviously you can do what you want.
I was considering this! But I like this at it allowed me not to judge fights like crump in the prologue to harsh! Also didn’t want to include the regular enemies: red bones etc as they would have been dead last and not much to say about them other than their a normal enemy haha
@@Swiftjar im hoping for DLC with harder boss variants, or maybe returning bosses from PM64. I know this is unlikely, but a cool idea, imo.
Am i the only one who thinks chapter 3 is the worst one? I think the idea of the chapter is fantastic, but the fights are very repetitive. The mystery is fantastic though
Certainly not the only one. It’s my personal favourite alongside 4 and 6… Almost all identical in ranking for me. But my brother has 3 at the very bottom
