Mike, glad to hear your introduction. You are the proof (along with many others) that Electronics is a pure kind of love. The knowledge comes second and has nothing to do with formal education or university studies or whatever. In my career I have met people who had 2-3 diplomas in electronics engineering fields but almost no one could tell the difference between a bipolar transistor and a mosfet let alone repair a device. Μit herzlichen grüßen aus Griechenland.
@@andrew_koala2974 You forgot to mention Greek language. Anyway, the root of this word is the Greek word "aktis" or "aktina" which probably draws his origin from Sanskrit but this is not scientifically proved yet. "Aktina" or "radius, radio" and the word "ray" which has a similar meaning is a straight line (or lines) which starts from the center of a circle and expands to the perimeter or to the infinite. It's a electromagnetic source that emits "rays".
Love your story! It just shows what a person can accomplish given enough love and determination. I know some EEs who would throw out this laptop. My son has a similar budget laptop with the same failure mode. I’m thankful you took the time to post this.
Hi Mike , we all walk our own road ,you have found a slot in you life which gives you a great deal of satisfaction and purpose, I have come to this a different way, like the video, great stuff, keep going .regards Jim

The laptop I am watching this video is also an Acer Nitro 5. It is a few years old but has not had problems apart from no sound from the speakers or the audio jack. Not a problem for me as I use Bluetooth headphones. It runs pretty hot, always has done from new, and keeps my hands toasty warm in winter.
The main tools are linked in the video description. The Power-Supply is a Rockseed RS310P. I use it in combination with a DC-Plug set from Amazon. Regards.
@andrew_koala2974 not self evident at all, man gaming laptop will only take power if there's a correct charger being used. This is not the correct charger but a adapter used with a dcps. I have a adapter but the plug combination set from China I got doesn't fit many of the newer gaming laptops hence the question
@@barttechcomputers1819 calm down please :) I have the Koala already warned for this rude behaviour. It seems he wants to dig over this channel today... :)

Thanks for your interest in our services but new Zealand is unfortunately out of our scope. Too much mess and confusion with things like parcel license, tax and things like that. But I know SureCanDo Computer Services who is located in Australia and experienced enough to be able to help you out. youtube.com/@SureCanDoComputersServices?si=NInyxwa9NUXT9kjP Best regards!

yes, Sorin is a living legend, I always enjoy his class. and for your thermal cam, what brand is that?
My tools are always linked in the video description. It is a Infiray P2 Pro. Regards!
Thanks. for sharing your knowledge.
Great work 👌👏
24:50 that's where a finer t12 tip would be handy, like J02 or JL02. All the caps wouldn't have been fused together.
Indeed. Soldering with the Iron is still some sort of cryptonite for me until today, but i'll try to improve that... :)
Thanks fot the hint.
Nice one 🤝

Haha, always pay attention that the thermal paste is good and the fans can run free. Then everything should be fine. 👍
good
Yes, Sorin changes people one repair at a time
Thank teacher
very good work but do think its ok have 4 amp when thers is no system
its just a litle high
Hm? The Plan was to power on the System and you won't believe but it draws up to 6 Amps under load. :)

the damage was limited due to the very low voltage regards Jim
I wouldn't waste any time on that, I'll just clear all 3 n replace them
