What do you think about the version by Patricia Janeckova ? Patricia for me is so expressive and true in this Ave Maria , Natalie a little too much sophisticated
I love this version. How could anyone listen and not have tears in their eyes? I heard Natalie in Guilio Cesare at the Met. Her voice seemed excellent to me. I do not know why people are saying she is a fading soprano. I know she has had operations on her vocal cords, but her voice is seemingly undamaged.
My all time fav soparano = her past vocal challenges I feel have only added to the purity of her vocal depth/empathy -- character (achieved only thru the crucible of the battle/doubts she faced post operation).

You may be right Lydia , but Nataliie is recorded in studio and Patricia in live , her voice is not yet perfect and her vocal technic not quite controled . Patricia is less professionnal than Natalie but she 's so young ( 18 y. old) , i am impressed by the " feeling" of her singing in spite of her age. I think Patricia may be better in a few years

I listened to a lot of Ave Maria, Natalie Dessay's is my favorite version.
I danced to this song in contemporary dance when I was a teenager. I like movies and I like this song too. Above all, I like Natalie Dessay.
