If I was out that way sometime I would love to spend a day on on it’s been 30 years since I put time on 657s or 637 and a push pull setup. But I sure wished I had a dollar for every mile I had operated a scraper I guess that’s why I walk like the hunchback of Notre dame. Great videos keep them coming
Now that's how you move dirt. The biggest job I've been on has had 5 631c scrapers on it and I thought we was doing good until your video. Thanks for the videos keep them coming
Fabulous hmmmm what a heart n soul professional whistle of Caterpillar turbocharged engine in such a great marathon along discipline. Also enjoyed natural and watched shadow of birds along chit chat. Wish to rebuild that particular CAT engine in shop near future. Indeed here in Pakistan trend of scrapers never gone they are happy with dumpers to carry soil and excavators to dig exploiting valuable time in building motorways.
Great to see such a line up of 657s,pity we dont see the loading (cut)& also the unloading (the fill), must be a few D10s in the cut push loading that lot, love to see this cat iron working the cut & fill. Thanks Keith.
8 Years later..... Still looking for the full process. Maybe they have an army of slave labour digging out the truck at the other end with shovels because they were too stupid to design a dumping mechanism and they are too embarrassed to show it.
This project is since completed and final grade was just below where I was filming from so you're correct that entire hill and then some no longer exists, all done in a very short amount of time.
My guess is that this is the Peris Dam repair project in So Cal When they first built it they were running wide open like this day and night . It is a major recreation area and reservoir. The dam developed major structural problems and needed repair
Hahaha! I am sure they have finished their shifts and are heading back to the base camp. Only the visuals of a Few pints of frothy Beer awaiting them must be the motivation ;-P.... Love from India.
SnowingNapalm Thats wrong for sure. You can see - and count, if you can - more than 15 going slowly uphill there (around 3:20). Clearly visibel is too, that at the end of the uphill climb the scapers are turning around 150 degrees to the right, you can see some of them running at the top of the hill to the right side. Now add the time for loading and unloading - no way that there are only ten of them......
My thought was landfill as others have said, but it actually looks as if it is next to the sea with there being chalk cliffs there. I would be more interested in what exactly they need so many of these machines for?
They run for free. They have two giant clockwork springs inside them. The spring loads up when they are going downhill then they release the pin and the springs push them back up the other side. It takes a little while to do the initial winding though. You need a big key that you push into a hole in the front to wind it.
A little ways inland mrbluenun but if you look at the photos on my website you can see the ocean in the last few I posted of the equipment lineup. More machines=more dirt moved in less time
So that a foreman on the other side of the job can tell if your spinning the drive wheels. Definite no no. Question not so silly if you consider the cost of tires on these beasts.
Never would I ever think you would see A convoy of Cat scrapers. What A beautiful sight.

The last time I saw that many pans they were green in color and working on extending the Denver International Airport circa 1988.
I love Cat 657E and 657B scrapers. Forever !
Like one of the instructors @ the Local 12 Whittier Training Trust said,"No one moves dirt like we do in Southern California !! "

Most scrapers ever on my job was a dozen Cat 666, and 35 Terex TS24. You gotta stay awake😄👍
This project is since completed and final grade was just below where I was filming from so you're correct that entire hill and then some no longer exists, all done in a very short amount of time.

I would hate to fuel up that fleet! The time and cost is wow!!!!! Don't see much dust kicked up, lucky!
So now you know what a 657E conga line looks like, hard to go past Cats E series scrapers
My thought was landfill as others have said, but it actually looks as if it is next to the sea with there being chalk cliffs there.

A beautiful sight
You guys are gonna throw off the balance of the Earth ;)
It would be interesting to know why they are moving the mountains!
Damn that's a lot of scrapers. I wonder why there were so many?
Great and interesting, 50 units may just enough for Krung Angkor use soon.
Beautiful!!!
That's quite a lineup!
Scoop Excavator s
Wonder what their fuel bill is...
.......if you have to ask
.......you probably can't afford it.
Here we go
Awesome!!!
Is that in CA and is that a garbage landfill?
Ok!
Somehow this reminds me of one of those circus clown cars.
They are going to get something done
very cool! my three scraper convoy chasing one another on site just doesnt cut it!
Imagine the fuel bill at the end of the day!

Seagulls = Landfill.
That's a whole lot of bat-shit crazy there. Love those things, just don't have much time on them.
That's a lot of $$ in equipment one company?
Is that every 673e in So Cal?
