Wow! Wow! Wow! Great Feb. show. Lot's of eye candy here. Two beautiful layouts. Steven Conroys drone fly by footage was also spectacular. What a show!😀❤⚡🔥💥👍
Really enjoyed the opening segment with the moon painting, and I look forward to collecting some dried leaves and trying out the technique demonstrated by Campbell Rice.
What an outstanding show! The North American Prototype Modelers layout is just amazing! The father & son layout was just outstanding! The segment with Campbell Rice was very cool! This Is the "World's Greatest Hobby" Till Next Time! MoPac Jack
Just found your channel. Great photography! Looking forward to my son getting a bit older and we will do a nice n scale lay out. I live in northern Illinois and we now have something new on the to do list. We are heading to an open house at NAPM for sure!
Who is the owner of the Nacionales de Mexico Consit? Because those two GP38-2 with "Pistachio" green train in trailing, it looks like the "Regiomontano" Passenger train. The "Regiomontano" or "Regio" for short, was a 100% sleeping car train that runs between Mexico City and Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.
Although I live in England and model British trains and scenery, I still like to watch how railway modellers do things around the world. I have just subscribed to your channel and I'm going to looking at back videos for more hints and tips. I'm going to try blending dry leaves to use as soil and fallen leaves on my layout. I'm looking forward to seeing the next video. Thank you 😄.
Good morning Ken, what an extensive and instructive video! Thanks so much. I hope to make it to St. Louis this year and would love to see the layout you highlighted here. I missed the great layout in Milwaukee and it's a good excuse to come to TrainFest again next November. - Dean from Minnesnowta
Hi Ken, I enjoy the videos on the channel very much. Just getting into the hobby. I have a question on how do you keep the layout clean from dust from the house? Do folks use canned air or put thin plastic or sheets over the layout when not in use? Thank you.
Love Whats Neat! I am a little late in discovering it!!! But as I am launching into building a second layout, it has gave me better tips and inspiration!
Hi, Could you tell from which firm come the material that are you using betwwen the foam and the rails (refer to Ken patterson Bak 1 track video)? Thanks for your answer. Marc.
He Ken, have you thought about visiting the La Mesa Model Railroad clubs layout in the Model Railroad Museum in Balboa park, San Diego. It’s a large prototypical layout. would love to see you out there!
Tealo951 check out my channel on a video tour when i went there on a family trip about 4 years ago. I enjoyed every layout that was there on display:) Daniel
Ken, Glad you added Michael Gross to the video. A note for those who did not know, Michael is (or was) part owner of the Santa Fe Southern Railroad, ex-Santa Fe line from Lamy to Santa Fe. One question, did Michael Conroy say where he shot the drone video?
This one was a good show. Maybe get ken to consider coming back to my layout and doing a demo and install on the azatrax signal system? Just an idea:) ken great show again! Daniel
Neither of those would have worked with the plaster powder we used for snow in the photo. Dry ice condenses moisture, which reacts with the plaster, and the fog machine would have done the same. The fog was produced using photoshop afterwards.
Hi Ken, Have you looked at having Jason Jensen Trains on your video segment for What's Neat show. This guy has the best videos on building models for train layouts. His UA-cam channel is Jason Jensen Trains. Thanks for the videos which are very helpful for new modelers who are getting started in the hobby.
Hey Ken, I love your show. But what about "S" scale? No I don't mean American Flyer or even "S" "Hi-Rail." I mean "Scale - S." There is a lot of "neat" stuff in "Scale S." We use code 100 rail or less, making the rail size very prototypical. Also, when you make references in your program to the different scales, instead of saying, for example, "HO, N, or O," please say rather: "HO, N, S, or O." Go S scale!!
Mediocre video. Layouts, layouts, layouts. You covered the leaves segment in a past episode. This one just has a new person showing it. Instead of the drone footage, squeeze another how to or a useful tips and tricks piece. Still not anywhere near where it used to be. Disappointed in the direction this show is heading.
Ken, I always love watching your photography segments. Thanks for sharing this one today.
Beautiful layouts. Great photography and great scenery tips. What more could you ask for?
That drone footage over the water and into the tunnel is fantastic! Thanks for sharing!

I love santa fe Double stack mold layout
Really enjoyed the opening segment with the moon painting, and I look forward to collecting some dried leaves and trying out the technique demonstrated by Campbell Rice.
Great show Ken.
Perfect balance of interviews, modeling, photography, drone views.
Thank you very much for all your hard work!
Best regards
Eric 😀
Nice show Ken and company. Your one of the main reasons I got hooked in the hobby.
Really enjoyed the show and seeing my long lost friend and model railroad modeler Campbell Rice!
What an outstanding show! The North American Prototype Modelers layout is just amazing! The father & son layout was just outstanding! The segment with Campbell Rice was very cool! This Is the "World's Greatest Hobby" Till Next Time! MoPac Jack
Palomarez is a Photoshop rock star. I love the details about how the photo was made. Great shot Ken! Awesome layout by the NAPM!
Big thumbs up some really great layouts.
Hey Ken, Thank You for the photo insights. Great shots! Thanks again for sharing!

Dry leaf grinder - cool. Do you worry about mold or fungus on the leaves finding a home on the layout?
For whatever reason this one was very interesting. Great Job!!!
awesome show really enjoyed it

Thanks Ken, Great footage on the layouts ! Also learned I need to grind my leaves longer .........

Where was the bridge scene in the video? Does Caboose sell the leaves?
Another great video.
Great show!
This is one of the best what‘s neat podcasts I‘ve evere seen!
Thanks Ken 👍🏻👏🏻

at 15:47 you had Michael Gross, that was cool. Is he a train buff?
congrats - this is one great show episode - with a cool opening!
Love Whats Neat! I am a little late in discovering it!!! But as I am launching into building a second layout, it has gave me better tips and inspiration!
Ken, did you ever cover how you made your wire trees on the caboose module?
Keep up the good work guys ! I like the road trip layout vids and well, every thing else too. Still waiting for a good Rail Pro insight though.
Im trying to get Tim Ring on the show, not having a lot of luck but I'll keep trying.

Outstanding episode 😁
thank you for detail show
Another great show.
The Y6b is my favorite loco! I want one so bad, but very hard to find at an affordable price!
This one was a good show. Maybe get ken to consider coming back to my layout and doing a demo and install on the azatrax signal system? Just an idea:) ken great show again!

That is some splendid art, shot with that hand painted backdrop. Very Impressive.
Did Campbell just let the leaves dry naturally, or did he bake them at low heat to kill any parasites/bugs/etc. that may have been on them?
Above and beyond this month! Accolades!
maybe i missed it but where is that double decked bridge?
answered my own question. its the Pit River bridge in California. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pit_River_Bridge
High Five, Ken!!!!
Interesting to see Steam locomotive water towers on a diesel era layout!
Hi Ken! How did you create the fog? Did you use a fog machine or dry ice?
Neither of those would have worked with the plaster powder we used for snow in the photo. Dry ice condenses moisture, which reacts with the plaster, and the fog machine would have done the same. The fog was produced using photoshop afterwards.
ken, what's up with the two sets of glasses, one on your face and one on your head?
I was just at k10 hobbies don mcreynolds told me about this video the people at k10 are great people loved the video
K-10 is definitely one of my favorite places

New Blood into management is always a good thing until you are considered the old blood.
I love the show but you need to correct the frame rate issue on the drone footage. This has been going on far too long.
We show the drone footage as we get it.
