So let me get this straight... when you call the number (for $2 a minute), a panel of judges answers the phone and you have 20 seconds to sing or act or tell a joke. Then, if they decide to make you a finalist, you and your friends all have to call in repeatedly (for $2 a minute) to vote for you to win the $1000 prize and a part in a commercial. Keep in mind, these judges have never met you and have no idea what you look like, but they will supposedly put you on TV as long as you get the most votes (at $2 apiece). Meanwhile, all the other finalists who didn't win have also had people calling in to vote for them (at $2 apiece) and have nothing to show for it. A fool and his money are soon parted. .
This hotline would have had me hook line and sinker.. i participated in school plays in High School.. i had a good singing voice then,,, but now???? It has deteoriated..
"I won a part in a national commercial just by calling Be A Star!"
This commercial I assume.
0:46 "Can you act, tell a joke or maybe sing." I don't think anyone in this commercial can do any of that.

Mr. Fullam can speak for himself. I loved the 80's! I was an 80's child myself and loved how everything about it. Most of the 90's were good too.
We need to go back.
Lol, how many people just held their phone up to the radio so it appeared that they could sing well.
I want to star on this commercial
0:40 Girl is going IN 😂
now that we have the internet, everyone a star
You'D be surpriSed iF I toLd yoU somethinG aBout tHese commeRciaLs!
Why do people that were children in the 80's hate the 80's? What was so wrong with the 80's? Besides this video was from early 90's.
It is aesthetically embarrassing...
its just fun banter
I remember there was another one of these commercials with equally bad rap lyrics.
I wonder what Maria is doing now, is she still in show business, did her career take off?
Yup, she became an EGOT winner
I saw her the other day. She lives in a trailer and works at Dollar General. She also weighs about 400 lbs now.

0:13... OMG! Her voice...
beautiful aint it?
😂😂😂
God, this rapping is awful. But I love it.
Maybe the point is to have the worst actors on purpose to make kids think they could do a much better job.
