Happy New Year! What a great list. I was happy to see Hedda Gabler and The Goldfinch on your list as I really love them as well. My favorite books of the year ending up being Pickwick Papers and Emma. Hoping to get to Nicholas Nickelby this year. Thanks for sharing your favorites.

Great list! I've had a copy of The Goldfinch for years. Maybe 2024 is the year I finally get around to reading it. My own favourites from 2023 were Brideshead Revisited, Dandelion Wine, William Blake's poetry (I read a complete collection over a year and a half)... and probably some other things I'm forgetting right now. I also read Call Me by Your Name, which I was pretty lukewarm on, but some of the elegiac passages from the second half have really stuck with me somehow, more than most things I read last year.
