Sapporo Moiwa is truly the icon of this northern city.  With neighborhoods built on and around the mountain itself, hiking trails to the top and a ropeway and observation deck to see what is considered one of Japan’s top three night city views, Moiwa is a locals favorite.  The ski area and courses built into the mountain make it a unique spot to ski when you visit.  Night skiing runs until 8:00 pm and provides a great view of the city below!  Restaurant, full rental service, ski school and more.  Just do not bring your snowboard as this mountain is still ski only!
Moiwa is a ski-only resort where snowboards are prohibited.

Thanks for this video. Is Moiwa easier to access by way of regular buses than, say, Asarigawa or Tenguyama from Otaru station?

      Thank you for your comment!
It takes a little bit longer than those ski resorts from Otaru station, but I highly recommend the night view of Moiwayama ski resort😊

Sorry for the late reply! Moiwa does have slopes that are accessible to beginners and you can hire ski wear there. You can access it via public transport ( take the namboku line from Sapporo or Odori station to Makomanai Station, and then take the bus to the slope). Here is a link to information about all of the ski resorts in Sapporo that might be useful.
