I believe that this was her best cd. I love all of them but this cd just really stands out. The production and her vocals have been the best I've heard from her.

I've been a soul/r&b fan since the early 70's and never thought that a Brit from the south of England could ever do it justice. How wrong I was,Joss Stone is one of the best contemporary soul singers around.Anyone who doesn't like what they hear, keep your comments to yourself and move on.

This old-timer thinks Joss is the best singer in the music business today. She SHOULD be super-huge ... world-wide. Somebody somewhere in high places doesn't like her ... for some reason. Nonsense. This girl is the best there is. Nobody in 2010 can touch her ... nobody. When it comes to power, soul and heart, Joss is the best singer I've heard since Janis Joplin. Just my opinion. Peace ... FoJ

Just got a private e-mail from a black guy (entertainer) and his white girlfriend wishing me a happy holiday! See? We're MUSIC lovers. Color is not an issue.
Neither Joss Stone nor Janis Joplin is (was for Janis) beautiful like, say, Beyonce Knowles who IS beautiful, BUT ...
When they SIGN, they're beyond gorgeous!!!
In her prime, Tina Turner "generated the heat" like nobody else!!! She "TheSixties Capitalist's" channel. Watch Tina in the featured video! Peace ... FoJ

Raoul, music has no color or race. Click on my name and see my channel. Big Mama Thornton is featured in my Vlog. I say the greatest entertainer ever was Michael Jackson. Go through my favorites. Many, many, many blacks there ... some you may not have heard of yourself! I was a radio DJ for 20 years: I know my music!
May peace and happiness be yours, My Friend. I love ANY entertainer ... who is really good! Color does not matter ... at all.
    Happy Thanksgiving!

I had never heard of Joss. Somebody on UA-cam commented on a Janis Joplin vid comparing Joss to Janis. I was mortally offended and thought, "How dare they!"
Then, I checked Joss out! DAMN!!!
She's BETTER than that commentor said! She is Merry Olde England's best-kept secret! Thankfully, she's not a secret anymore.
She does, indeed, compare to Janis! Check Joss out here at 2:05. She looks mighty beautiful to me. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Some people think soul belongs to black people, if that were true then hard rock, Acid Rock & Psychedelic Rock belongs to white people... So then what was Jimi Hendricks all about? Do people think he had stolen the white man's music?
Although I understand where some of the resentment came from in the 50s & 60s that the white man took rhythm & blues, called it Rock & Roll as Fat's Domino explained. The white man could excel much further due to the suppression of the black man...

  • @saraseibert

@mihkeltt I WAS GETTIN BUSY from the GO. I have my opinions about music but most important out of all that arise I wanted to say that it's much easier to enjoy if we just take it in and feel it. Our sences are all different. Not sure why people are so rude sometimes but you're right it's a groovy kinda song. Joss Stone is one of a kind :) But hey, that's just my opinion.

So for some it seems rap belongs to the black man even though it was a white man who made it popular, I suppose it is the gangsta rap that seems to be more of an American black culture & harder to swallow seeing a white man behave in such an ignorant manner, although rap has matured drastically since the 80s it's come a long way & will continue to improve.

THIS girl is a Soul Singer Extraordinaire. Janis Joplin was a blues singer, but, IMO, Joss is the very best singer, male or female, since Janis Joplin.
Joss is The Real Deal. In fact, she's TOO GOOD for today's music scene. She would have been a HUGE super star in my era ... long ago.

Some people will get mad at me for saying this, but Joss is the best soul singer I've ever heard. Remember, music knows no color. No particular race owns any style of music. To me, Joss is IT when it comes to soul. I call her The Soul of England. And, she's SOOO damned hot! Best singer I've heard since Janis Joplin. Joss Stone and Adam Lambert are THE BEST of this generation, IMHO. Love, love, love her!

GlobalNotes: Yo, I gotta AGREE with you. I think Joss is TOTALLY beautiful, ... especially in the "Son of a Preacher Man" vid at the UK Hall of Fame Awards show!
All I meant is that she's not "classically beautiful" like, say, Beyonce Knowles or the girl in the "Hot For Words" vids here on UA-cam.
    Joss just blows me away!
From one Joss Stone fan to another ... Happy Holidays!

I love the song but I certainty respect the right for ppl to dislike it and say so. It isn't like this is a private idea being pelted by scrutiny. It is a public media subject to opinions. You seriously on't want ppl to say, " No I don't like coke." or "Yeah, Ice cream is good." because of what the public perception may be 100 yrs from now. Perception will be we had opinions and the American right to state them. Soon, public opinion will be a thing of the past. you will have your way.

  • @brisbanetim

Perhaps outside your door is different to mine... We still raise children to respect elders and others. Sure there will always be families that don't but then we shouldn't ever give up. My kids certainly have respect for others. My point remains - what possible outcome is served by clicking dislike? Sure it is an opinion but then just because you have one does it mean you have to tell everyone what it is? You wouldn't say it to their face so don't click dislike.

  • @VoiceOfReason1999
    @VoiceOfReason1999 11 років тому

not disrespectful?Have you been outside your door? Respect is a thing of the past. Parents have lost complete control of their children. Those children are multiplying before they learn to addition and the parents carry the load. Bring back corporal punishment and smack a ho. Respect. Humph.smh. We should be so lucky. And I agree with Web Rookie this is pure 70's Funk. King floyd / Charles Wright!

@PrettyBrownEyes0489 don't mix fame with success. Madonna and Gaga are the first, ONLY fame; Hellen Keller, Ella, Joss and a few others belong to the second fact, success, my dear... It's not because media and tones of marketing garbage make somebody famous, it would mean somebody has talent and would have success. Success and talent walk hand in hand; fame has another partner: vulgarity.

  • @InHeartheD

@PrettyBrownEyes0489 I don't care if you're not alone, what you said is stupid and pointless regardless of how many people agree with you, but this seems to make you happy. Anyway, my point is I'm tired of seeing comments like yours in every f*ing YT video, in which people compare between completely different artists. It has nothing to do with the video. Enjoy music without prejudice, and have a nice wednesday.

I don't believe there's a risk of the systematic killing of any ethnic or religious group in this century. I didn't call you sick, I went by your words "It makes me sick 2 think that 1 day she will give birth 2 a black baby." The "norm" is 2 accept and respect people for who they are. I'm in the other 92% who believe on Judgment Day, God will not worry Himself with who you decided 2 love, but instead what u did in this world. The future will take care of itself. I suggest focusing on the present

Thank you for understanding the jest of what I am saying. The only reason I can come up with as to why it was marked down is because as sad as it is, some people find it easier to hate than to love and let love. The truth is uncomfortable for some people and that could also be a reason. Again thanks for seeing things in a positive light.

This is just one particular song you didn't like; Have you tried "Bruised but not Broken, Spoiled, Right to be Wrong" etc?
The subject of this song just lends itself to alot more soul, or "screaming noisy show(ing)off" as you put it.

You said what millions are thinking PrettyBrownEyes0489...I don't get it either...Josh Stone has such talent without gimmicks, just raw, pure talent. I guess these days having a gimmick keeps you in the headlines. Lady GaGa is a decent singer but she doesn't compare to Josh Stone or Adele.

Thanks for the correction Asuana. Not sure how I came up with Elizabeth when I knew it was Kathryn. Must be that I was blinded by her beauty!!
;-) For me this routine ranks up there with Janette and Brandon's Disco and Tango from last season when I started watching the show. Could be my favorite!

I also agree that there is a polite way to disagree and a polite societal way to dislike. Calling ppl haters certainly is not it. If I could remove vocabulary from today's society it would be: hater, right wing, liberal and political correctness

I understand your point but let me give you another scenario... Someday, after we are all dead some "next generation" will never hit dislike - as that is disrespectful to the artist and doesn't achieve anything whatsoever. Just listen and leave.
