Gazans are Palestinians. Ashkenazis are one of two major ancestral groups of Jewish individuals, comprised of those whose ancestors lived in Central and Eastern Europe (e.g., Germany, Poland, Russia). A lot of those who moved to what is now Israel after WW2 were Ashkenazis. A few things. Unlike Nintendo controller which has two buttons, Sega controller added a button. So you seein something that wasnt there. Now in connection to the previous talk about Muslims and Jews, one can look at the buttons as one for each Abrahamic religion and Islam came after Judaism and Christianity so you seein something that wasnt there. I think there is even a third layer, but imma keep this short so I wont go there.

Its an old test of God's to find friendliness in a nemesis (or with people of other religions) and all three religions encourage showing kindness, mercy, and forgiveness to others. The three religion came one after another, so it can be seen as God repeating the message for emphasis.
Lupe is talking about how people of the Abrahamic religions can resolve their disputes and the answer is in the message they all share.
Also, what is insane to me about the line "emphasis on Genesis" is not only the point about the book of Genesis, but also how Lupe has emphasized Sega Genesis throughout the song (Sega games like Lolo Twin Dragons and Metal Gear Solid). This whole song is Lupe using Video Games, Album Covers, and other impactful pop culture commodities to talk about serious political and societal issues.

Yeah Lupe is 1 of the most underrated underappreciated rappers ever.
One aspect of the song is about a stripper in a club that doesn't know she's pregnant. The yoga poses are the baby in the womb moving around ("posing", and the stripper "posing" in the club; the baby is posing "in this bitch" )
Adoration of the Magi is also the name for the 3 wise men visiting baby Jesus to pay homage. So it's another layer to the whole theme of threes - (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) (past, present, future) (holy trinity) (3 buttons of the genesis controller) as well as the hook "you just a baby".

In my opinion Lupe's one of 2.. Maybe 3 rappers who've reached the heights of lyrical complexity in Hip Hop while also making great music. Food & Liquor and The Cool are classics. Tetsuo & Youth and DROGAS Wave are 2 of the best rap albums of the past decade and Drill Music in Zion is another phenomenal album in my opinion. He's definitely in my top 5.
You left out his early mixtapes his 1/15 stuff is some of his best work in my opinion
I only know the dhow goes on because it's a classic but I could never put him in a top 5 he's like a drake to me.

This is my first time seeing/hearing this song and what I got from the whole song is “stop trying to grow up so fast” and stop trying to be your own person so fast” because it is saying that about babies trying to get money and get grown too fast. And it even applies too the biblical stuff too. Because Adam and Eve were supposed to do what god said and never eat the apple as well but they wanted to be above the rules / grown so fast that they defied the rules to see what would happen and they got cursed. Either way you slice it. It seems like the message is don’t grow up too fast. Follow the rules while you have time or you will be forced to grow up and learn the hard way. That’s what I’m getting????
2nd verse starts off with him expressing how mothers say things like my baby is in there kicking, moving around, doing flips, or maybe even exercising. Lupe views it as the baby is doing yoga. Yoga builds strength and awareness to cultivate harmony between the body and the mind…in this bitch.

It is fairly straightforward but there is some really witty gems in it, the song sounds amazing. The naming of the ship-names that imported slaves maybe can throw off if not knowing one or the general sounding old school ship-names.

Ima be honest with you, trying to pick my favorite Lupe album is like picking my favorite child 😂 it’s so hard because there are some better than others maybe from a technical perspective, but I genuinely appreciate every body of work he has put out and the different stages and maturation of his music. In all honesty I caught on to Lupe a little later than others with his first album but going back and listening to the mixtapes is crazy

Also Lupe's "Food & Liquor" album drop in 2006 and Kendrick's 1st studio album was "Section 80 in 2011".

Lupe being my favorite MC since 06 I can honestly say I don't even understand everything he says but man, the appreciation I have for his skill level and artistry is infinite.
"Those precious things" on his new album is simple complexicity just as you like it
Lupe is the greatest English-speaking lyricist of all time, not the #1 storyteller, though (those are different skills in Hip Hop, imho). Nobody can tie different themes and subjects together that effortlessly into incredible bars and deliver them through such vivid similes, metaphors and homophones as Lupe does - only to allude to other subjects and bring them into focus in the last few lines of the last verse, flipping the entire track on its head and forcing you to listen to it again to make sure you catch (most of) it. Great examples for this are "Failure", "Piece of Paper/Cup of Jeazus", "Light Blue", "Pen and the Needles", "Hailé Selassie", "Super Cold", "Lupe the Killer", "WAV Files" and sooo many others.
He doesn't even need to tell stories. He has clearly chosen a different path conveying his message in riddles and not even explaining them to be understandable for everybody. Throughout the times story was used as the easiest method to convey message and meaning to ordinary people and he is going in the exact opposite direction.
Lupe is the best storyteller. Name me a rapper who has a saga as good as Lu's MYH saga

Some scenes shown are from when kid gets shot in the back trying to steal a car stereo. The dad finds a Muslim prisoner who helps him turn his life around so he can get out and save his son. Lupe has a lot of layers to what he says…I can break down the stuff he does for days but I just wanted to add that he has a storyline in his songs based off a character named Michael Cool Young. When the songs based of this character is put into order, it plays like a Greek tragedy. Michael not having his father in his life caused him to be raised by the game which is represented as his OG and his girlfriend is represented by the streets.
This video shows part of a thought that we live in a simulation and god is a computer programmer.
He is by far the most layered lyricist out there.
