An alternative to deathspamming for 999999 damage is perhaps Highwind. With Fang as my party leader, I can debuff Long Gui's legs and Highwind them a few times to bring Long Gui down without using a summon. This way I can spend as much time as I want killing the thing.
Okay, I think I can help you. Do you have the ultimate weapons? This may very well be your problem. The main strength of the characters after you complete your three main Crystarium paths really stops. All the other ones don't give much. The ultimate weapons give a lot of perks, such as ATB+1. Are you de-buffing him effectively, and do you have Fortisol? This really helps and saves you time. Do you have a Genji Glove equipped on Vanille? Death is the most powerful magic, and can achive 999999.
there's something I must be missing because when I tried this (about 10) times. it eventually recovered and I dies. and I"m using characters that are maxed out in all but one category each. Lightning has enfire and I get to use it but when the Long gui is staggered I can't get it dead and spamming Death doesn't do much.
Yeah but then she just starts her attacks again a second later. By not switching to com, he's missing out on hundreds of thousands of damage on the Death hit.
You're not switching constantly, only when you cast Death. You can figure out a rhythm so your paradigm shifts happen between the party's attacks for the most part, rather than interrupting them. Their ATB gauges still fill during the paradigm shift animation if they're not attacking.
PiesCanFly They only attack when their gauges are completely filled. This makes sense on paper but in actuality they'll attack like twice or thrice per shift.
I can do this without using an elixir..! On my previous play-through I thought it was so important for this battle; then what the hell is the elixir for? Seems like a waste using it anywhere else and it sells for 10gil.

that poison really do the job. vanille is too OP (for super boss only) not for roaming purpose.
OR Lightning with Lionheart (for the record: her best weapon) and a Speed/Energy Sash.
Huge cap
You should be switching to COM/COM/COM during the Death animation to get the 150% damage bonus.
You'd be wasting the 40~60ks Fang would be doing during her attacks by interrupting her so much

PiesCanFly Less damage long-term, switching roles so often pretty much makes it so only Vanille deals any significant damage.

Also wtf Random Instant Chain lol. You didn't use ravs at all.
why with me fang don't use this ability??
I'd say that Fang, Lightning and Hope are my best choice ^^
Um...No. You can't even unlock the thing. I'm not sure you're strong enough to beat the final boss yet even...
Oh goodie. Another one with Vanille. **Rolls eyes and proceeds to hit the Mute button**
Seriously, it's like listening to Mickey Mouse climax.
I almost had the Long Gui
