retired nail tech here.. at a point a good tech will advise a client that they need to rest their nails and allow natural growth before they reapply a set.. it's really not okay to work on very damaged nails. You could cause injury or infection very easily. There are a lot of people in the beauty industry who will overlook many health and safety issues just to take your money and won't even warn you of the danger..
Some people want their real nails clipped down before getting them done hence having to take the old ones off. Once your natural nails grow so long and it’s under the acrylic it looks icky.
