Brunz_2016 a Yeah but this quote from Farimir when his father basically told him he didn't love him or care and wished he had died and Borimir had lived, and went on a suicide mission to retake osgiliath and nearly died.
'Let the armies of Mordor know this! Never again will the lands of my people fall into enemy hands! The city of Osgiliath has been reclaimed.... FOR GONDOR!'
Rohan's theme is heroic and yet tragic. With little hope of surviving Mordor's and Isengard's brutality, they still ride into war, determined to sacrifice their lives for the freedom of their people. What they lack of wisdom and rich history like Gondor, they make up with bravery and truthfulness. Gondor's theme radiates wisdom, nobility, greatness, and rich history. After all, it's the legacy of the Numenorians who survived the destruction of their old kingdom. Their past is full of glory and shame, greatness and downfall. Who else could leave such a mark in history in good and bad?
@@spaceinvador11More of a movie thing. Book wise, Rohan shows up and does a majestic charge. They eventually get stuck when momentum fades. Gondor then cuts their way through the gates to Rohan. Have you ever been called home by the sound of silver trumpets? Have you ever seen the Tower of the Guard, whose white peak is seen from afar like a silver star in the sky? How powerful music can be can be stated when simply the theme playing can bring you to tears. No matter how many years go by since I watched this absolutely incredible trilogy, it will forever remain, my favourite film trilogy of all time.
I remember watching the Extended Edition Additional Features and them going over Howard Shore's use of Gondor's theme in every part of when you see the people and it was the first time I'd ever really noticed a full and perfect use of the leit motif in music for film. That tremulous horn while Boromir is talking about his people to the ever increasing levels of grandeur as Gandalf charges up the many layers of the city to meet Denethor. Oh god that was amazing.
I listened to this on repeat after my cousin died idk why but it made me fee a lot better. “You are soldiers of Gondor... no matter what comes through that door you will stand your ground!”

The CGI in the Hobbit had a kind of "glow" and was too shiny so it looked way too fake. But they did a really good job on the main character CGI like Smaug, Azog and Sauron. But Legolas' CGI was really bad.

But what Howard Shore created for the Lord of the Rings is an absolute masterpiece and he definitly earned the two oscars he gained for it. The "Lord of the Rings"-movies are masterpieces from every point of view and the music really matches that standard and also fits perfectly to the scenes. I love the part beginning at 4:19 ...
Sons of Gondor! Of Rohan! My brothers. I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of Men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the Age of Men comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Men of the West!
Read this from 0:00 to 0:50: "The Men of Númenor were strong, tall and proud. They did not fear the Dark Lord and built their shining city of Minas Anor in full view of the Land of Shadow, as if to challenge Sauron to come forth and take it, if he dared. For over a thousand years, it stood guard against the Enemy and ever he watched it from his dark throne, yet he dared not test the might of Gondor, not until the time was right." (Not mine, credits to @Robert Brown, 7 years ago).
How many hear the themes of Gondor & Rohan, and our hearts stir with memories of some long-forgotten nobility, bravery, and selflessness, hidden... buried deeply now? How many listen to the music of Lothlorien & Rivendell, of Elbereth & of Arwen, or have read the Lay's of Beren & Luthien, or Eärendil and Elwing, and our spirits are once again given to love, beauty, and our esoteric nature? The simplicity of the themes of Hobbits, and we are reminded of our oneness with ALL of nature, simplicity, and of friendship and the deep bonds of trust some would have us believe are no longer capable in the thought of Mankind? These are NOT just the things of fantasy! They are our birthright. Who now doubts the old ways of the world are dying, and a new age of Man is upon us? We of us, who are not too old or too jaded so as to believe could exist ANYTHING greater or more worthy than ourselves have now a great opportunity, to shape & give form to the world WE believe to be worthy of our inheritance! We are noble, and as soon as the symbol appears, we will see just how strong OUR will's are. Be yourselves Kingly! We are Stewards of ALL life and innocence, and with every individual act of compassion and courage, we will be led past this world of fear, war, doubt, corruption, loneliness and greed. Do you not yet know? This is the time of our own trial... Look at the world, it has already begun to happen... And you have NEVER been alone...
In the movies Gondor was just that realm we all knew was great, and what was supposed to be the "knights in shining armour" type of guys, but they were just losing really badly and this theme perfectly describes that.

I like that Gondor is wealthy has powerful lineage but never seems like they look down on others. They are noble and righteous
Howard Shore is a genius. The emotions that his compositions bring out in all of us are our tribute to him.
This score has a very regal, righteous and stoic feel to it. Beautifully crafted thusly as the realm of Gondor. 👏
I listened to this on repeat after my cousin died idk why but it made me fee a lot better.
“You are soldiers of Gondor... no matter what comes through that door you will stand your ground!”
I like to think about the people who made these movies and how much effort the crew put in to make this trilogy masterpiece (1996-2003).
The beginning of the song just brings tears to my eyes. Long live the king of Gondor.

Anyone else get those goosebumps down their spines, or do I just have to take a shit?
I love LoTR because of the setting and I loved the books. One of my favorite series growing up.
its incredible how much i didn't notice LOT soundtrack influences in the OST of skyrim
This city, was once the jewel of our kingdom. A place of light and beauty and music, and so it shall be once more. Let the armies of Mordor know this; never again will the land of my people fall into enemy hands. The city of Osgiliath has been reclaimed for GONDOR!
The Gondor Theme is so incredible because it fits the feel that this is a very royal kingdom that has been in decline for many years while at the same time feels like there is still hope that it can reclaim its former glory. I love it!
kinda wonder why the effects of the hobbit werent as realistic of those in lotr like minas tirith here, almost looks real
The Hobbit was cgi and LOTR was models and in some parts cgi
Yeah, they tried something new in The Hobbit. It didn't always work out too well, but in the end I enjoyed it
The CGI in the Hobbit had a kind of "glow" and was too shiny so it looked way too fake. But they did a really good job on the main character CGI like Smaug, Azog and Sauron. But Legolas' CGI was really bad.
***** Well put Cap.
The Hobbit used a higher frame rate and that made things look weird.
“This city, was once the jewel of our kingdom. A place of light, and beauty and music and so it shall be once more “
The music is just phenomenal!!
This is why Lord of the Rings remains timeless whereas Game of Thrones has not.
Obviously. It is easily rewatchable over time. Although some would say Harry Potter is great, one must not tell lies. The LotR trilogy from Peter Jackson will never be topped
Game of thrones had an incredible soundtrack too imo. Ramin Djawadi was trained by Hans Zimmer!
@@LazyOldFusspot_3428 we wouldn't have game of thrones or harry potter if it werent for lord of the rings. george rr martin has gone on record of saying how influential tolkien was on him and there are blatant things jk rowling just reused as well
game of thrones has an amazing soundtrack however the new lotr show appears to have nothing remarkable
@@LazyOldFusspot_3428 I see what you did there
"This is no mere ranger, he is Aragorn...son of Arathorn. You owe him your allegiance"
The best theme for the best fantastic city.

It's just some old Toby, the finest there is! (If I remembered that right)
"Where was Gondor when-" "Holding off the unstoppable armies of Sauron for the past era"
-Oh yeah...
Howard Shore is a genius. Don't get me wrong - John Williams is the most successful composer and ingenious (I love the Star Wars and Harry Potter themes), too, as well as some others.
Williams also "borrows" heavy from Bach and Warner, I believe
@@jeffersonjjohnson And Gustav Holst, he got sued by the Holst Foundation for the imperial march I believe.

MEN OF THE WEST!
For Frodo.
The trumpet playing the melody in the beginning will always give me goosebumps!
Read this from 0:00 to 0:50: "The Men of Númenor were strong, tall and proud. They did not fear the Dark Lord and built their shining city of Minas Anor in full view of the Land of Shadow, as if to challenge Sauron to come forth and take it, if he dared. For over a thousand years, it stood guard against the Enemy and ever he watched it from his dark throne, yet he dared not test the might of Gondor, not until the time was right." I want an extended version of Gondor in Decline
7:22 THE MOST EPIC PART
Not sure about the movies, but Tolkien would love the soundtrack Howard Shore composed!
If he hadnt then he wouldnt understand what genius of adaptations are
I think he’d like the movies better than Ralph bakshi one. That was shocking. PJ did justice to the books and the spirit behind the books imho
True
I believe he would
This theme is probably one of my favourites in the movie (and one of my fav themes of all time!). Shore definitely knows how to develop a theme!
I had to come back to this video after my eyes and ears were violated by the Rings of power bullcrap
In the movies Gondor was just that realm we all knew was great, and what was supposed to be the "knights in shining armour" type of guys, but they were just losing really badly and this theme perfectly describes that.
+Yahbozo12 Well that is true but once Aragorn lead all of the men against the black army of mordor not (trying to racist) defeated them only if the men realized it sooner would there have been peace.
From the ashes, a fire shall be woken. A light from the shadow shall spring. Renewed shall be blade that was broken. The crownless again shall be king.
