    Honestly, I think that Cocteau Twins were just as legendary as The Cure & The Smiths, especially when it comes to 80s alternative/indie music. Cocteau Twins deserves way more credit from people.

    I have never heard anybody attempt to sing this song at a karaoke.
    They wouldn’t dare. It would be suicide.
    No band can cover this song or any of their songs.
    They are magical, no other artist blends into the atmosphere quite like them,
    Thank you Cocteau Twins for all of your delicious music.
    Early 1985, I was 11 years old, and my dad had a wrecking lot, and as kids, any car that he bought we would explore the glove compartment, trunk, under the seats, etc hoping to find some coins, a baseball, or whatever.
    Then one day, i found a cassette, no case, it said TREASURE, Cocteau Twins.
    I was in awe for weeks, falling asleep listening to it, had my best friend listen to it. We were already into Depeche Mode , The Cure and Smiths, but this tape, this was something else.
    Of all my treasure hunts, that was a true treasure

    First heard this whilst tripping on mushrooms in the meadows in my first year summer holidays... my friend had it eninating from mini speakers in the grass... I thought it was the weirdest, most beautiful heavenly sound I’d ever heard... I was trapped in a loop of beauty, where angelic Aladin like creatures were pouring liquid ecstasy from the clouds into my mouth in time with this music, which I could see in wave lengths rippling through the sun drenched grass.

    This is a gem amongst all the treasure on 'Treasure' - what a fantastic album, nothing has ever come close to capturing the mood that this recording does - so watery, dark, refreshing, mysterious, melodic, crushing, releasing, harmonic, driving and resting - a beautiful soundscape.

      @Miguel Ruvalcaba first time it really happened to me at 8 years old, was with ''Fame'' by David Bowie.. I loved that wild tune so much and was freaking out when I heard it popped on the radio. Sometimes they used it in a short commercial it was like torture. You had to wait longer for the next time when it would be played in it"s totality.

    Elizabeth Fraser's voice is so passionately intoxicating. If Sylvia Plath were alive she would have written beautiful confessional poetry about the artistic and erotic interludes of Miss Fraser's voice and the Cocteau Twins.

    I just don't get it, why are the Cocteau Twins underrated?
    My ears tell me for one thing that Elizabeth Fraser is the greatest female vocalist of all time, she touches your heart and soul immensely.

    • @Shannmeister
      @Shannmeister 10 років тому +31

      I know what you mean but in a way I like the fact that they never got overly hyped. CT fans (and as one for over 30 years and therefore unashamadly biased) strike me as more loyal, nicer and kinder. I also think that whilst they are categorised as shoegaze/dreampop by the music industry and press they are beyond that in my view. And yes Elizabeth Fraser is a singer of such fragility and yet strength that her work is without equal. You also only need to see the way they received they Q lifetime achievement award to see how self-effacing and shy they are.

    • @MamaRage
      @MamaRage 9 років тому +16

      +Shannmeister I'm only 20 but I listened to this song back in 7th grade religiously at night, it was very relaxing and I was happy they never got more popular than they did. They were able to keep to their own music and not have the public voice dictate what they play. It's a much rawer, melodic, beautiful sound. But that's just my opinion. :)

    • @Shannmeister
      @Shannmeister 9 років тому +11

      Mama Rage You're spot on with your opinion there. CTs have been a constant in my life. So few get close to understanding the deep impact the music they produce can have and you and I are amongst a select few. :)

    By its own definition the abstract & the sub-conscious are not meant to be defined or understood. The brilliant and pioneering Cocteau Twins tap into this, requiring the listener to both let go(of expectations) & to hang on(to the unknown) ....
