For what it's worth, the tack I've been trying is pointing out that every fascist dictatorship fails (the longest one was Portugal under Salazar, an outlier at 40 yrs) for the same reason. Blame someone for all the problems, then eliminate them and the problems still remain, so someone else has to get blamed, and then the next, and the next, lather, rinse, repeat. The classic line is "until no one is left", but it never gets that far because eventually everyone realizes they could be next and no one can be trusted, and everything collapses into chaos. All of which fits into, as you put it, "it takes a bullet to get them out" (a rather nice all encompassing turn of phrase, that). I can't say I've gotten much mileage out of that, but I would have thought people with kids would want them to have stability, but, well.... the truth is I know why that one hits the ground with a resounding thud. It's a reasoned and "intellectual" argument and people don't respond to those. They respond to visceral shit. I'm not good at that. As I see it, our only hope is a Harris landslide so that the Supreme Court won't be able to justify pulling another "Bush v. Gore" (the REAL stolen election). Once Harris is inaugurated, we can breathe a sigh of relief.... for a tidy five minutes. Then we have to start preparing for 2028, when the Christian Nationalists are going to try again. Why is fascism in our elections? Better question: Does the Constitution give voters the authority to choose fascism? I dont think so. Voting to end voting is a contradiction.
I doubt anyone thought to include that provision. Now that we are faced with the issue, we may have to do something about it. Difficult problem in a democratic society with some freedoms.
Ultimately the constitution and the various laws are just words. If the Supreme Court decides the words mean something else or if the people choose their cult over the constitution and enough people go along with it, then fascism takes over. They only need to seem legitimate to enough people.

Spain had made a step towards democracy and was forcefully pushed aside by nationalists in favor of an authoritarian form of government. Religion played a key role (just not a good one). Franco sought to murder any Spaniard that should cross him. Torture was a 24/7 demonstration of a very unhealthy mix of religion and nationalism. Franco Ruled Spain for about 36 years. I live outside the US and everywhere people lost soooo much respect for the US after Trump. Bush was bad enough but people got over it and chalked it up to bad luck. Trump was definitely a choice but unfortunately lots of people only voted for him as a protest vote because they didn't like Clinton. The US needs to look into a new system of choosing representation. Maybe get more political parties that need to form coalitions to govern. Then they can compromise to find a better balance. Maybe more rounds of voting for president like 1st round is of 15 candidates then the top 10 then the top 5 then the top 2 go to the final election.

@@GreenGardenGuy1 I have already voted for Harris. I live in Indiana though, and as you know its mostly Republican. Everyone knows how I feel about it. Signs in the yard. I am hoping Liz Cheney is right that a lot of Republicans are gonna vote Harris and that they just dont want to loose their standing in the party so they will vote in secret. Remember the booths are private for a reason.

@@GreenGardenGuy1 lol. I remember being yelled at when I was younger for asking who someone was voting for. No one really talked about it until the internet. Its hard to have real discussions on the webs. I try to act as if the person is in front of me and then I am less likely to say something I wouldn't normally say. I do think this time around one side is very vocal and the other is somewhat timid which is why like yourself I am speaking out.

I saw it as a cheap way to advertise business with video sharing. Only later did I discover what I had done to myself. I canceled all contact with all other social media sights because they are a pain in the butt, and pretty useless for information. I stay here because I might do somethng good and I am addicted to using my camera.

In my view, the Spanish Civil War is relatable in a number of ways to the situation we find ourselves in.
Spain had made a step towards democracy and was forcefully pushed aside by nationalists in favor of an authoritarian form of government.
Religion played a key role (just not a good one). Franco sought to murder any Spaniard that should cross him. Torture was a 24/7 demonstration of a very unhealthy mix of religion and nationalism.
Franco Ruled Spain for about 36 years.

Its symbol sits on both sides of the main seat in the U.S. House of Representatives where a republican or democrat president sits.
I really do not see why that is important at this moment in time. Trump isn't just a symbol. He is real and the problem is now. Pay attention to the moment, it matters.

The point of your video is about elections correct? The main seat in the U.S. House of Representatives has that symbol on both sides. The voting system gives an illusion that we have choice. Fwiw, i only graduated high school and even at that it was a private Christian school that utilized Bob Jones University textbooks that had...... a skewed perspective on many things, but the point....even they gave me a base understanding of fascism and why it's bad....... but not enough people seem to have gotten even such a basic primer on it. Genuinely has me terrified of the result on the fifth.
You are likely correct. I do not detect much awareness in the average republican that a Trump vote is a MAGA vote and MAGA is fascist. They love fasicism. My life is fine but the trump Presidency was a miserable thing. I used to believe Americans were pretty smart. I now realise I was foolish. I used to thing people respected our nation and what we have here. Jan 6th made me realize some people are completely oblivious to the what they can do in this system. I live outside the US and everywhere people lost soooo much respect for the US after Trump. Bush was bad enough but people got over it and chalked it up to bad luck. Trump was definitely a choice but unfortunately lots of people only voted for him as a protest vote because they didn't like Clinton. The US needs to look into a new system of choosing representation. Maybe get more political parties that need to form coalitions to govern. Then they can compromise to find a better balance. Maybe more rounds of voting for president like 1st round is of 15 candidates then the top 10 then the top 5 then the top 2 go to the final election.

@@michellezevenaar Sadly I lost much respect for my fellows in the USA when they started to follow Trump. That is only getting worse as he tries again. Yes we have a strange system. By popular vote trump was NEVER elected. The electoral college screwed us. They make the final choice. The Clinton email server scandle was what we call Oct. surprise. I would hope that this is why the college defied the will of the people. Any other reason would creepier. MAGA wishes to dismantle the entire government. At this point leaving the voting system as is would be the best choice. After we manage to marginalize the fascist movement here, then looking at elections would be saver. For now, changing our system is a bad idea.

It's not propaganda. Viktor Orban visited Mar-A-Lago then Heritage Foundation. Trump will end the constitution and democracy by next August if elected.
