Toya Todoroki otherwise known as the League of Villains member Dabi has always had his Fire Quirk ever since he trained under Endeavor before the birth of Shoto Todoroki, however during Touya's backstory after the Dabi Toya Todoroki reveal, we saw that him not having Rei's Ice Quirk was a major factor in how Touya Todoroki Became Dabi after all for one found his body on Sekoto peak! Now after the events of Shoto vs Dabi's final fight in the manga, during Endeavor vs Dabi we watch as Dabi uses his secret ice quirk vs Endeavor in My Hero Academia Chapter 387 from the manga, completely surprising his father and making him feel terrible knowing that the Todoroki family didn't need to end up this way at all, especially with everything that happened in My Hero Academia Season 6 in the anime.

to be fair, Endeavor did care about Dabi/Toya, when he found out Toya's quirk burned him, Enji tried to force Toya to stop training. Toya was just too stubborn.
I'd argue that him trying to stop Dabi from training because it's literally injuring him was the best parenting we see from him for the entirety of his kids' childhoods.
Of course, since it's still Endeavour he manages to never actually explain shit to Dabi in a way he can understand and Dabi ends up believing he's being replaced.

It don't mean being the best hero that protect humanity should by able to escape his consequence and responsability over the sin of his past.
In theory, you could say they all inherited both quirks, and at some point they would somehow unlock its attributes due time and training. This is all by theory btw, because an offspring of two quirks by this matter would give birth to a new quirk or a combination of the two.
This would really be great if true because that means that all the kids, to varying degrees, were exactly what Endeavor wanted. Though each kid needed time and special care to fully awaken their version of both quirks. Shoto was just the natural of the family, not the only one. It would bring things full circle. All Endeavor had to do was be a parent and nurture each of their abilities. His headstrong, impatient, and narrow mindset is what made him destroy his family because he didn't really care about the growth of his kids, just his own selfish goal.

If Touya showed the presence of both quirks in any capacity early on, I doubt endeavor would continue having children for the sake of getting a 50/50 child. This search for a perfect child despite having Touya is what made Dabi hate Endeavour. Not their training, or that Endeavour wanted him to be strong, but the fact that Touya longed for his father's attention, and was constantly told to give up on his dream after shoto was born because he was the prodigy. Just my personal view of it, of course

Since hes the one who's generating the flames, unless theres some kind of serum that can increase one's fire resistance, nothing can get rid of the weakness, only delay it atmost. Not only that his quirk makes him extra weak to his fire due to him being more resistant to cold temperatures. And Endeavour couldnt do anything. No matter how much he hones his control, he cant do much unless he has high output, and with high output he would burn himself. And even as a child he hurt himself.

Dabi was right if he just kept pushing himself eventually he’d make up for not having ice and the boy became the personification of the word “Cremate” and then boom ice, Enji didn’t realize it but he didn’t stop because the boy was a failure he stopped because the kid was perfect and he didn’t want his dream to destroy it he was right too his dream came true and it was the ending of “everyone was right”

I hope they manage to cool Dabi down and save his life, even if it's bittersweet as he passes away surrounded by the rest of the family. He didn't deserve such a tragic upbringing.
I have a feeling Dabi is likely to just explode.
Fire and Ice alone isnt enough they have to be balanced against each other and Dabi's blue flames are very intense so his sprouting ice quirk might just explode into steam if they arent cold enough to endure his flames.
(Even Endeavour mentioned this. His other kids possess the potenial to have both but they have to be 50/50. Dabi leans too far into his fathers quirk which is why originally his latent ice quirk just made hin vunerable to his own flames)
How sad would it be if after overusing his quirk, dabi passed out and the ice on his chest starts to melt because of the fire surrounding them, then endeavour starts hugging his son to at least make him last longer.
Or what if his ice quirk begins to increase that it ended up covering his body with ice. Then we get to see how badly injured he was, then endeavour tries to melt those ice giving all he has and when he finally reaches him, he has no more flame left to heat up his son's cold and dying body

Dabi was not the perfect child. Endeavor was looking for Half Hot, Half Cold. Dabis quirked is still Cremation, but it had an insignificant, small ice quirk that was too weak to manifest. The only reason we see it here is because of Hysterical Strength, which is not an evolution or awakening of a quirk, but rather, having the Quirk be pushed beyond its limits. It does not undergo a radical change. It’s the same quirk pushed to new heights, similar to a human body, and how it reacts with adrenaline.

What's even more interesting is it seems less limited than Shoto's quirk. It seems to come from his core so it's not limited to one half of his body at a time. This essentially makes toya the strongest todoroki by far

Literally it gave endevor the perfect clone of each quirk in one...but because he only tought him to burn brighter...and didnt find peace with what he had...being given a vhild with only half of each quirk later each having strong quirks, but each also only being able to use them with training shoto being more equivlent to endevor in strength rather then stronger.

I think its more so to explain how tf he's been alive this whole time. They kept yelling about how impossible it is that he hasn't burned up yet. Him having it the whole time does make sense though and it was forshadowed. After all, it never made sense for him to only inherit the ice body without the ice quirk. The dna has been there the whole time.

You can’t train you body to resist fire. If you aren’t born with fire resistance they you don’t have it period
Nah Dabi quirk is just stronger but he never inherited endeavours flame resistance like todoroki did so burning himself can never be fixed it can only be endured but it will kill dabi evantually if he uses his flames more and more

Well technically we saw clues that both touya and shouto having similar quirks think about it both can control the temperatures of their fire first touya was red then blue then during a quirk malfunction accident its turn golden yellow which what burnt him alive meaning both can control temperatures
On the contrary, I don’t think it was all for nothing at all. First off, in order to Awaken the Quirk they “need to experience some kind of trauma or life-threatening situation. During this time, the quirk will rapidly evolve at its core.” Now for Shigaraki this (briefly) happened as young as when he killed his entire family. For Dabi, not being picked and feeling discarded from his father (the person who mattered most to him) and nearly burning himself alive wasn’t enough. So I think it’s fantastic writing that it took this to unlock the individual trauma so he was able to secure his ice quirk since his goal all along was remaining his fathers legacy. It’s a beautiful tragedy-type of situation.
It makes sense with starting with the red hair, and switching to white. His body was made for an ice quirk but got both, but wasn’t aware so he was just like ✨fire boi✨
It was stated that his body runs on low temperatures (he learns more into Ice quirk physically).
That’s most likely why his fire hurts him more, because he runs on low temperature (also just because they’re hotter).
He’s physically leaning towards Ice, but seems to mentally lean towards fire.
Seems like he just didn’t awaken them correctly - I feel like even if he got Ice first it mightve not made much of a difference. He would probably freeze faster than normal.

@@Soogooroo Honestly, if Endeavor is getting any semblance of a second chance, then the same should be applied to his victims. Yes, Touya’s done worse things than him, but considering the circumstances and the fact that Endeavor has been using up so many of his second chances, I’d say it’s fair.

Doctors told that it was what happens when two quirks like fire and ice have a child. They can get the immunity of one but the quirk of the other. So, no he couldn't know.

@Marc Lenray Magdaraog No, his other quirk doesn't bloom until Toya gets to the point of nuclear explosion. If it was easy to bloom, it would have happened during the first time he burned himself alive the first time. Since he is pushing his body so much, it searches for a way to help him, hence the ice bloodline.

This means dabi has a true hybrid quirk, whereas shoto only has fire and ice because of his bilateral dimorphism (a phenomenon where an animal that is supposed to be symmetrical ends up forming with 2 genetically distinct sides), thus explaining why his quirk splits down the middle, and why he struggles using both.

Funny how endeavor had the preferfect first time around and he didn't realize it until he was the one fighting him
One of the best character developments in all of anime. Dabi doing all because his dad didn't see him as powerful enough and eventually becoming a stronger fire user than his dad and a stronger ice user than his mom aka becoming endavors dream child, meaning all of the evil deeds Dabi have commited didn't have the reasoning of him being percieved as weak was just brilliant.

It wasn't Truly For Nothing. Dabi still can't stop his flames from burning himself maybe his ice? but he's still just a half-ice kid that COULD use fire but only to a limited extent before he burns himself. Todoroki truly is the perfect version of Dabi
He is also a weaker version of dab I, but a safer one

I don't think the people saying, "Oh so Toya would have been his perfect child all along if Endeavor was a better father," get it.
No, he still wouldn't have been 'the perfect child.' Because Dabi literally lacks *resistance to fire and heat.* Even if he could produce ice as a child, it still wouldn't have been sufficient to protect him from the burns his flames cause by originating *inside* his body.
On top of that, Dabi literally had to reduce most of his body to charcoal to put his body under enough stress to wake up his ice Quirk.
Which would have never happened if Endeavor had been a better father.
A "better father" who was told by a doctor that his son was innately incompatible with his own flame Quirk and would only hurt himself by using it... *would have stopped him from using it by explaining that he didn't want Toya to hurt himself.*
Meaning that Toya would have been trained to at most prevent accidentally triggering his Quirk or to reduce the intensity *IF* that's even possible. If Endeavor was a better father, Toya still wouldn't have met the criteria for "being perfect" because he never would have had the need.
Though really if Endeavor was a better father, there never would have been a "perfect child" because he wouldn't have wanted to 'create' one, and would have married for love instead of eugenics.

When or if Dabi dies in his next battle versus Shoto, I hope he says “I did it…I have ice and fire…dad can be proud of me” or something along those lines before he dies because I want to be sobbing when Dabi dies

Because Dabi could always have used ice but he couldn’t back then because his mind wasn’t put under enough stress to awaken that quirk, until now.
More like Endeavor focused his fire side too much since it’s stronger than even his, that even Toya didn’t really think he could have an ice quirk, too.

Endeavor wasn't very smart with his quirks, water would've been a way better counterbalance to fire not ice because of its thermal conductivity

@@velcity4190 I mean the ice needs time to grow stronger to maintain with the fire as his fire was so strong that it couldn't be shown on the outside even when he was young. Endeavor also described Touya's fire even has more potential than his. So I guess the ice was still growing inside of Dabi at the same speed if not faster with his fire. it takes so much time that we can only see it now.
