Pretty cool! My Am700 Sub looks to be similar as far as the cabinet (apart from terminals) and positions of the drivers. My Am5 iii has the woofers moved further towards the middle of the box and has only two ported chambers while the Am5 ii has 1 sealed and 2 ported chambers.
I have a series 3 I got from a yard sale for $5, the guy said he knew it would sell as soon as someone knew what it was. I hooked it into a pair of 501s, my active sub on that system is from a Harman Kardon from their HTIB system with receiver. I ran the bass test sound and it all works smooth, I lose perception around 40 Hz which is where Audyssey recommended I set the crossover (I went for 80).
I like that one. Bought one like you cut open from a thrift store. It being powered made hooking to it a little tougher. It was possible however it had no crossover built in so I ordered a rca volume us crossover box and added a rca input next to the proprietary cable input. My opinion is that this unit was sent a pre-crossover signal from the set top controller that would have originally came with it. I like the sub model you bought much better. 👍👍
Oddly enough I was watching this on the original woofer and the satellites it came with. Inherited the system and an rx-700U receiver from my dad. I am getting used to them as computer speakers. My Logitech 540s seem like they have more bass despite having a smaller woofer which seems odd to me?
I currently have 2 speakers that I am running without a subwoofer directly to a receiver. If I were to add a sub, would I just take the speakers to the sub and then take the sub to the receiver? In other words, the speakers would NOT need to be connected to the receiver at that point? If so, which connections on the back of the receiver would I hook the sub to?
Speaker wires from amp or receiver goes to the sub and wires from sub go to satellite speakers. I would be afraid that the sound from the subwoofer might not be tight and be too sloppy. If you already have speakers with decent bass, this might make it sound worse.
There's a reason these complete 5 Series II systems (woofer and satellite cubes) sell between $35 and $50 on ebay. $5 is a very fair deal :) Personally, I would have opted for a medium milk shake and spend about 100Xs on a better sub :)
I'm not too impressed with it either. But as it turns out, this is one of my most popular videos, so I guess a lot of people are interested in it. I hope to do a follow-up video at some point where I test its performance with some Sony speaker cubes that I happen to have.
Sorry, but I don't. I look at the driver from a similar Bose subwoofer that I had taken apart, and it just had a Bose part number without any specifications. Bose doesn't seem to be interested in providing technical details of their equipment. :-)
I did like your video. Wonder if you can help me with my problem. I have the Bose AM-500 acoustmass speaker system and a yahama natural sound AV receiver HTR-5760. I have not been able to get the subwoofer to play. Can you help?
I have the same speakers with very good bass I mean thundering bass. Every body complaining about bass me too when I played 1st time and I was very disappointed with the sound.. Then I used..ONKYO power and preamp plus equalizer..But the sound is low so the bass..I have a old pinnacle satelite speakers which I was using with my onkyo POWER and preamp..HOOKED up all of the speakers total 2 subwoofer one is Bose one is pinnacle back of the power amp... A+B. After that I DON'T know what the hell HAPPENED..thundering bass sounds started coming..I mean bass is so high my room FLOOR start vibrating.. Then I disconnected the pinnacle subwoofer channel A. I was thinking thundering bass coming from my pinnacle subwoofer. Its not true actually thundering bass COMING from Bose.. Now I am playing only the Bose speakers with unbelievable sound...unbelievable what HAPPENED how it happened I DON'T know..its like miracles.. My suggestions to all you guys having poor quality bass..PLEASE try power amp + preamp + equalizer...
It's waste of making video on any BOSE product, having many trades secrets... it's a simply waste of time, internet data, money and resources..... moreover you gain any knowledge..

Anybody have a wiring diagram for the Bose LSPS subwoofer to a Bose Media center. I am ditching the media center for a more modern amplifier.
Hello im just wondering how many watts does this subwooper can drive any idea?

Thanks! Sorry but I'm not any Bose expert - I just look into their stuff whenever I happen to come across it.
I have a one but don't have amplifier

I bought it from a local thrift store.
Got my series 10iii for 15. lol!
I watched it I thought we were actually gonna pull the whole thing apart but I guess I
That's what I thought also but it didn't work out. I did another video on a Bose subwoofer that I did completely destroy, if you'd like to watch that.

Wrong, everyone has opinions just like everyone has butthole. 😂 Bose can be great with the right setup.
