I loved this silly old movie . I needed a break from all the troubles this morning.
So true.
Just how I was feeling today! You know I love in these old movies how 1st of all when they have a story they tell it & they didn't need to make it "2 hours" long or run over & fill it "filler"(for lack of better terms) & the same w/older music....The song would be "sung" ;) & then ended! I also love how in the 30-'s 40's films we get to see all of these actors who were trained for silent movies too. They use their eyes etc much more...It always makes me think of growing up watching Young Frankenstein & my dad would tell me that about the actor who played Igor the hunchback assistant...I guess he came from the silent era.
@@elioselectric468, that's right.
Also, before the beginning of sound in films, they had to rely purely on visual slapstick for effect, which is why many films such as the Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin films had so much of people falling over, pushing and punching each other, chasing each other, seeing things like houses and buildings and other objects crumbling apart and breaking. And like you said, people using their eyes much more, and they had exaggerated facial expressions, and heavy hand and arm gestures. Because they were unable to fill in any time with verbal dialogue, physical slapstick had to be continuous and exaggerated from how it was once talking pictures began in the late 1920s
A great movie. So glad I found it. Certainly lightened my day. 😊
@@elioselectric468 Your post prompted me to look up Marty Feldman ("Igor") and I found he was born in 1934 - too late for silent movies but you're still right, he would have been GREAT in silent comedy.
These just make you smile and feel good...and we need that, all of us
Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you.
This is the kind of movie I grew up with. Better than almost anything out there in the last 40 years.
Not True!!!!
I agree
my gram gram was born in 1942 and i was really shocked to know these were the movies back then,it makes me feel so happy watching old movies like this that my gramgram used to watch
I laugh out loud every time I see Zasu after taking a swig from the bottle! Comedies should all be as fun as this!
This is a sweet old movie co-starring the great Zasu Pitts; I recall her from her appearances on Fibber McGee & Molly, and she was hilarious!
A flustered Zasu Pitts is one of the treasures of old movies.
I love these old time comedy movies. So funny!
I Love these old movies. So light and easy on the heart and mind.
Sufferin' Sucatash ! Never even heard of this cute & heartwarming movie till now ! The late great Hal Roach sure know how to produce good comedies ! Thanks a lot for uploading for us to enjoy ! :-)
My 11 year old daughter enjoyed watching this today. I think one of the male actors is from Wizard of Oz and played Tin Man. Wonderful short. Zasu Pitt was wonderful. Another Hal Roach classic. Thank you.
No that was Jack Haley.
No, you are mistaken. Jack Haley played the Tin Man in the Judy Garland version from 1939.
In the cast of Miss Polly was released in 1941. The cast does not include Jack Haley.
Zasu Pitts was such a fantastic actress. What a fun movie this is. Thank you for posting this wonderful movie.
Hello Janet, how are you doing today?
I remember Zasu Pitts from her appearances on Fibber McGee & Molly; she was hilarious!
❤️😃I love these old classes because I find that it takes to another way to unstressed , laugh , unwinds with no violence or blood in it . A happy go lucky movie that makes you feel good .😃 ❤️ Keep up with these great movies❤️
So fun to watch. I love movies like this!
Sooo funny and clever! Polly is extremely tolerant. A great gal! I have noticed that people made great movies in the 40's! I watch them all.
I'm a little more picky but when Zasu Pitts is the star that's good enough for me!
The 40's movies..my favorite
Most of the 40’s movies are great!!
Seen 10 times and still Love it💙💚♥️💜💜💚💙💝 thank you 🌟These is better then tv or cable
Can't get enough of this movie! LOL
I would enjoy seeing many great old movies Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3. 👯 👯♂💃🤺👯♂ 👯
Pizza you were right on point , a laugh and a smile makes the day go better. Thanks for brightening up our gloomy day 👏🏾💥❤️🙏🏾
What a fun movie !🤗
Hahahahaha! This movie... Awesome! I would go to the theaters if movies like this played.
I've always been a fan of Zazu Pitts. She is delightful! And so was this movie! Thanks!
What a great movie I laughed so hard want to see more like this
What a GREAT old film! Witty, funny, perfectly cast-it has it all with a subtle touch of tomfoolery! @PizzaFlix this has to be one of the BEST sauces you have ever put on a five-cheese pizza!! From the great ZaSu Pitts playing Miss Polly all the way down to Slim (the gardener and inventor), Minerva (neighbor), Patsy, and Eddie, they were all perfectly cast and had me laughing all through the film and that is rare! TY for posting this rare gem. That ending at the meeting where all the hypocrisy was exposed makes one realize that times do not change-only the people do.
OMGosh, when they were talking IN the fish pond I giggled out loud!
What a fun and funny movie this is!
So good! Lovely funny old film. Thank you for uploading.
Thanks for sharing this delightful comedy. Zasu is hilarious.
Encore!! More, more like this feel good old gem! This was a comedy classic, thank you very much!
Zasu Pitts. Never knew her name but always loved the characters she played. What a talented woman.
Zasu Pitts, one a kind, delightful actress.
The problem with this movie is it's too short. Wanted it to keep going. Thank you for uploading it.
I was thinking the same thing.
It was a so-called Streamliner, 40-50min Films which Hal Roach produced in the early 40s - they were supposed to be shown before the A picture
Same thing, IT'S THE BEST MOVIE!! I was laughing all the way to the end!
I like this length. It suits me that 40s/50s flicks were so often under 90 minutes; I like a 50-80min film noir washed down with a 45-70min comedy, especially if the comedy has Zasu Pitts in it.
I watched it twice in the same day. Laughed heartily both times.
Bajoobie Cuzican Is tthe h
I laughed so hard at this movie!
This movie.. It's perfect. Every movies from 1920s to 1959 were perfect, that was the Golden Age of Hollywood. Look at movies now.. I wanna build that time machine to go back in time to the 1920, 30s, 40s and 50s!
Zasu Pitts was one funny lady !!
This movie is short Sweet and hilarious 😂.Loved every min. Sure wish they made more😘
The part where Slim gets blown into the pond looks so real!! (Except the kitchen is on 1st floor & his clothes come out of 2nd floor) Great effects for an old movie. Makes me laugh every time🤣🤣
Also, the kitchen was in the back of the house and the pond was in the front yard.😂
Thank you! I've always enjoyed any movie with Zasu Pitts in it. This was fun to watch.
GREAT MOVIE HAVE WATCHED IT OVER THE YEARS MANY TIMES HAPPY TO ENJOY IT AGAIN THANK YOU ZASU PITTS AND SLIM SUMMERVILLE ARE WONDERFUL THEY PLAY THEIR PARTS SO WELL IN ALL THEIR MOVIES
Yeah, wasnt Za Zu a hoot. She was always so funny, what a great actress she was.And Slim was fantastic too. These people sure had what it takes, to make a great movie !

Love these old movies thanks. So innocent! Makes me wonder will we be watching any of our modern day movies in 70 years from now??? I think not, take 2018 all average movies nothing that I will watch next year let alone 77 years from now:-)
Loved this...Too cute
The gal playing Zasu Pitts's sister cracks me up too! She puts the 🍒 on the top!
That's not her sister. 04:51 "...Patsy, her companion and cook..."
That was so delightful, and genuinely funny! Loved it.
Thank you for uploading this classic! She was a lovely woman.
ZaSu Pitts (Say-Zoo) born 1894, is a combination of names from her father's two sisters: Eliza and Susan.
Her childhood home is still standing at 208 Lincoln Street, Santa Cruz, CA
She married John E. Woodall, who was 6 yrs younger than her in 1933 (she was 40 yrs old), they remained married till she died at age 69 in 1963. He was born 1901and died 1988.
"Twenty dollars a month" and they can't wait to spend it!!!!! Am also a Zasu Pitts fan.

Richard Clayton who played Eddie, quit acting and became an agent. His clients included: his friend, James Dean, as well as Farrah Fawcett, Jane Fonda, Harrison Ford, Nick Nolte, Richard Chamberlain, Tuesday Weld and Angie Dickinson

Well, Polly lived up to her Name of 'Pandora'!!
Thank you
Excellent! thanks!
Oh, I get it, 'Pandora Polly'; the writers named her *Pandora* because of what she lets out of the box, so to speak. This is a sweet old movie co-starring the great Zasu Pitts; I recall her from her appearances on Fibber McGee & Molly, and she was hilarious!
hal roach was a genius.
Celine Johnston no he's not that dude is uh FOOL , uh FOOL. I tell you , never seen a mailbox do a driveby just standing there
Thank you very much!!
Set a little after 1911, they're still wearing long dresses - a sweet comedy about a little town that's too morally pure for its own good
Charming, funny, and entertaining. Appropriate for the whole family. I enjoyed it a lot.
Another great picture show.

💙💎
Thanks for watching PizzaFLIX. May the Sauce be with you.
2023 watched this cute movie again!
Miss Z.P. was (*is*) an A1 surefire, always-on-target delightful babe. Her unique signature savoir faire- universal. Is it just me, but I love it when her script and role calls for her to imbide. I find it cute, with perhaps a hint of haughtiness, and all-in joyful.. At the drop of a hat I'd def hang out with her in the afterlife. Here's to a real grand Star if there ever was one! 🍾🥂
Love it!
How many of you knew that the cartoon character Olive Oyl was based on Zazu Pitts?
.
.
.
.
No, but I do now. Thanks
Darboiux ...wow pretty interesting to know. I love to hear little tidbits like this. Thanks for sharing 🤗
Ha! Really? That is so amazing. Me thinks I know everything and then this~ ! Well blow me down! ahahahaa
only the voice and delivery when voiced by Mae Questel who copied ZaSu Pitts vocal characteristics she also voiced Betty Boop ... The character was based on olive oyl creater Segal's neighbor...
I did.
Makes you feel good to watch this.😊😊😊
Lovely.
