Great video. For mine, I took it a step further. So i started with adding playdoh to the pencil, then I saran wrapped it to contain it and then added tape to make sure it all stays put. So my grip now better forms to my hand.

I do this with my Staedler except I use a rubber tattoo grip from a plastic tattoo grip. This will also keep your hand from cramping. I also do this for my ink pens.

You shouldnt try it if youre often drawing with normal color pens because if you draw with them after drawing with your modified it will be really uncomfortable.

I'm not a subscriber just happened upon this video, but I'm pretty sure I missed the part where he would've said that, I mean I could be wrong but I don't think he even claims that. I only caught that he was showing other people his own preference and how he makes them for himself and opening the possibility that others can try it to see if it helps them. Which can be a helpful suggestion for other people who have problems with their current grip. My son has autism and his physical therapist recommends grips to help him with not just grip but also finger placement. So there is something to the concept of it that might help others even if it's not a lot, and maybe it's just one person but that's still one person that found it useful. I wouldn't personally but I'm not going to rip into him just cuz I don't find it useful for my own use. I'd have to say atleast it's a helpful video on some level, where there are a great number of youtube videos that are actually pointless, LoL.
Just wanted to be clear, I'm not trying to be rude to u so don't take it like that, I'm just saying that the video is atleast helpful on some level to atleast someone out there. Atleast more so than I would think that let's say another video of his that I read the title as cutting open a marker or something like that, I'm not sure but I would think it be more helpful than that video, LoL.

How was yours a toaster. Mine turned into a fire extinguisher.
You don't really need the sharpener. I use sandpaper and it works just fine. Just be careful not to spill all the graphite dust

The back tube is a sharpener already for the pencil. Just insert the lead and twist the tiny tube.
I use sandpaper cause I can only use sandpaper

Loved the video, although the volume of the music was interrupting my concentration, and also walked all over his comments a bit of the time. Nonetheless, cool video! Nice idea only if one grips their writing utensils in the same or similar manner. I hold my writing and drawing instruments (pens or pencils) in between my index and middle fingers, and then use the 3 finger (index finger, middle finger and thumb) gripping technique at the tip. I learned this gripping technique many years ago from a computer coder who explained to me that gripping my writing instruments in this manner almost eliminates all fatigue when writing or drawing.

Cool tip, Zach. Think I'll try it with some of the rubber vinyl grip tape I have laying around. It's used to re-do the grip on tennis racquets or hockey sticks. It's pretty soft and comfortable. I've been wanting to move up to a 2mm clutch pencil. Thanks!

I made myself a grip for my tattoo machine for max comfort out of silicon 2 and baking powder I think it was. It sets like rubber and the beauty is you hold the grip as you want it till it starts to set. Try it. It's awesome

i did the grip on my drawing tablet pen. it no longer fits into the hole its supposed to be stored in, but its so much more comfortable and i have much more control, so that makes it totally worth it.

A lot of people don’t know this but there’s actually a sharpener built in to these pencils. The silver cap at the end of the pencil has a hole in the tip, this is actually the sharpener for them - it is removable to make it easier to sharpen the graphite.

Since you guys live painting it’s nice that you guys like moved to a crafting
I think Self adhesive elastic grip bandage tape is much easier to wrap and more comfy, imo.
I've used a variant of this with air-dry modeling clay. You can get a truly custom fit.

Hey zhc I love art I am new you are amusing
Try some hockey grip tape. I use it on pens, pencils and small tool handles. it has a cotton mesh that allows it to stretch and conform and provide a great grip. some people unwind a several inches or so of the tape and spin it into a narrow cord which you the wrap around a tool handle and then cover it with a single wrap of flat tape. Until you try it you will not know how good it is. All the best.
Nice tutorial! I made this the other day and it works WAY better than my regular sketch and charcoal pencils!
Just get a tattoo gun rubber sleeve. That works too. Also, rubberbands and athletic tape works fairly well.

I found this interesting, but i don't see use at all to this in my case. When im going to write, i hold my pencil in a similar way that ZHC holds. But when im going to draw i hold my pencil in a way that i use my shoulders more than my wrists to draw.
