I typically wouldn't watch a 're-reaction' to a song - but made an exception for this one because I understood your intent and thought it was a cool idea. So glad I watched it - Lex's enthusiasm and child-like joy at watching and pointing the artists out is so infectious. I've got a grand canyon smile on my face right now - the song alone can do that, but seeing her smile and light up like that really warmed my heart. I remember when this was filmed and released and the "Hands Across America" movement. I was 12. We were camping in NorCal, and at the declared time/date of the "hands" movement, we all came out of our campers and tents and held hands across the camp ground and played this song on a boom-box. I thought it was a cool thing then - but never really grasped just how hugely impactful that historic moment was and the true impact this whole thing had on the world as a whole. I lived and experienced that history. My father was active duty military back then. That was the kind of world and freedoms our military supported. Many of the aid sent to these other countries were shipped out of Travis AFB, where my father served and was proud to be a part of. After the video was over just now, I started to feel sad though - as I reflect on how divided we all are today, and how divisive movements are - driving wedges between countries and between countrymen. My father is no longer with us, and our world is not close to what he served to defend and protect. And saddens me greatly. I only hope we will all find our way - and soon - and movements like this become a thing again that bring hope and unity - not division and hate.
Until you mentioned it, I forgot about Hands Across America, even though I participated in it. So long ago now, and I agree, it is sad to compare the unity we had as a nation then, in support of people we would never meet halfway around the globe, to the division we have now.
A country is bound to be divided though, when maybe 1/3 of the people are supporting a cult leader who is actively trying to tear it down so he can take it over, and the entire time they're either denying it or don't realize it. I hope we can overcome this threat and recover so that things like Hands Across America and the like are possible once again.
After Diana Ross was Dionne Warwick!!! You'll Love Dionne Warwick's "Walk On By", "Do You Know The Way To San Jose", "I Say A Little Prayer" and many more!!! edit- She's Whitney Houston's aunt!!
That was freakin’ Awesome, going back to that and seeing how much more you know. Now we can all check out the first one again and compare. Great Job Lex! 🤗 that was fun to be a part of on the live stream.
Some of the ones you missed, The blonde was Kim Carnes (Betty Davis Eyes), The first one you missed was Dionne Warwick. The guy in white who sang at the end with Ray Charles was Janes Ingram (he also sang earlier). They guy in the back who you said "who is he" was Harry Belafonte.
Been watching you guys for about a year and a half now. And one of the many things that makes you guys different from others is you guys enjoy the music and care enough to research it. The fact that lex can call out all the singers is absolutely astounding. Every singer in there is a legend to all of us. Great job guys.
So hilarious hearing Lex try and shout each name when she gets it -- and even funnier when Brad looks at her as she does this -- thanks for the laughs tonight! Tremendous song... wish artists today would come together for another in 2022...2023... or soon after. We all need it!
I don't know if you'd even be able to tell the difference between the acts with all the processing and autotune today's artists rely on. There's more talent in the recording booth for this video than you'll find in the entire Top 40 today.
There was a forerunner to this song by 'Band Aid' in the UK, called do they know it's Christmas. It was a lower budget song, getting as many artists together as possible at very short notice. The song was rerecorded in 1989 and on 2 subsequent occasions with different artists.
Hi. What you meant was, the first big star grouping putting out a song for charity was "Band Aids, Do they know it's Christmas". Then in response to that, USA for Africa came out with their also wonderful song. Fantastic rivalry resulting in two amazing songs. Cheers.
@@RandomPau Hi, Band Aid recorded their song "Do they know it's Christmas" in November, 1984, in time to hit the Christmas market. It went straight to No. 1 for 5 weeks and also hit no. 1 in 13 other countries. USA for Africa responded and "We are the world" was recorded on Jan 28, 1985. The Band Aid song and theme was so popular that it was re-recorded by successive groups of artists in 1989, then 2004 and lastly, 2014. Both are fantastic songs. Cheers.
Lex hasn't accurately duplicated a single musical sound the entire time I've watched her, and she tries very often. But she does a 100% perfect Bob Dylan. She's a true talent.
Y’all should react to “Do they know it’s Christmas time.” It came out around around 1986 and it’s basically the Christmas version of this. Same theme of feeding the hungry done by an all-star lineup. This time, it’s British pop stars of the day.
Love to see you revisting songs like this now that your knowledge of the artists has grown. Only reaction channel I watch anymore, you two are amazing.
Lex did a great job with naming the singers. I submit this was a much happier time, people would have everyone believe that we were all so racist back then, not true... we are much more divided today. Thanks for the memory!
Lex, I watch this video every couple of days just to watch your reaction! You really ARE just being yourself and getting into the video and music! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! Brings a smile to my face just watching you! This will never get old!
Great job, you got most of them! The fellow with the amazing voice who was singing together with Ray Charles at the end was James Ingram, who passed away not too long ago. He was the voice of 80s slow R&B, definitely check out some of his songs like "Just Once" and "Find One Hundred Ways."

And the blonde lady was Kim Carnes, who sang "Bette Davis Eyes." And that guy you asked who he was toward the end is Harry Belafonte, who introduced Calypso music to America.
You definitely must check out Dylan. The "who is this guy" guy: Just a beautiful, humble, legend by the name of Harry Belafonte, a.k.a. the man whose idea it was to create U.S.A. for Africa. He's a legend in so many ways - movies, music, social consciousness, good looks - - Here's the opening paragraph to his Wikipedia bio: Harry Belafonte is an American singer, songwriter, activist, and actor. It can't be stated enough that people either forget or don't realize Harry Belafonte's role in this recording coming about. I remember reading that one of the early ideas was to have a concert featuring all black artists. The chorus at the end of each verse was, 'daylight come and we wanna go home'. 😁

Hi Brad& Lex Lex I am proud of you for knowing so many of these singers.... I enjoyed this a lot . The blonde woman you didn't know was Kim Carnes and I think you did a reaction to her song "Betty Davis Eyes" or maybe it was her song "Gloria" but you did great at naming everyone . Thank you for this video and I look forward to many more here .

Great eyes Lex! The woman after Cindi was Kim Carnes, and the two tall black guys with deep voices were Luther Vandross and Teddy Pendergrass. The 3 guys in the very back you didn't know were Dan Ackroyd (Blues Bros.), Lindsey Buckingham (Fleetwood), and Harry Belefonte.
Don't forget about the producer, Quincy Jones, who made so many songs behind the scenes including one of my favorites the soundtrack to Sanford and Son!!
In order of ones you didn't recognize as of your first stop ...James Ingram, Dionne Warwick (Whitney Houston's cousin), Al Jarreau, Huey Lewis and Kim Carne's. Was junior when this came out....watched the big premiere on MTV......cried then and still hits me in the feels. 🕊️💗
A few others not named are Dionne Warwick, Harry Belafonte, Kim Carnes, Al Jarreau, Jeffery Osbourne, The Pointer Sisters, The Jacksons (Tito, Latoya, Marlon, Randy, Jackie - notable missing is Janet Jackson), Bob Geldof, Waylon Jennings, Shelia E, Bette Midler, Smokey Robinson, Lindsey Buckingham, James Ingram, actor/comedian Dan Akyroyd (of all people), and all this produced by Quincy Jones!
The lady who sang before willie Nelson was Dionne Warwick, who is Whitney Houston’s aunt. Also, when you said the “Other Jackson brother”, there were several Jackson brothers and sister LaToya.
Great vid. Made me smile that you both looked at each other when Diana Ross came up as she has sung lead on 18 American number one hot 100 songs more than anyone else in the vid.
Cool. I actually remember suggesting you guys going back to this to re-spot people in a prior comment section, tho don't recall what song. You got most of em, but the ones like Jeffrey Osbourne and Al Jerreau (and Kim Carnes) were also ones Lex didn't get the first time. Kim Carnes did Bette Davis Eyes, which you guys did, but that was her one big hit (and you weren't doing the actual music vids then). Jeffrey Osbourne is one you should look into, I know him well as a Laker fan (he's a fellow one, he has done the season opening National Anthem many times over the years at the Lakers). Jerreau? I'm 46 and I still would have to look up his songs list to find if I recognized anything. Nothing comes to mind for him still. Dionne Warwick sang "send him yer heart". Lex didn't know her either, but she was a 60s era singer who had a couple 80s hits later (That's What Friends Are For) is one of them.
Ok y’all missed these soloists: 1. James Ingram 2. Dionne Warwick 3. Al Jarreau 4. Darryl Hall (John Oates is the other) 5. Huey Lewis 6. Kim Carnes 7. That guy you asked about at 7:06 is Harry Belafonte.
You did a great job . The blonde lady with the freckles is Kim Carnes. The other guy was Huey Lewis. They also had a Al Jarreau and James Ingram, as well as Lionel Ritchie.
Geeky guy in the back was Dan Aykroyd. He didn't sing any lead parts, but he was in the Blues Brothers. Not sure we'll ever get that on a live stream though lol.
It's not as well known, but check out "Sun City" by Artists United Against Apartheid (1985). A few of the same artists are on both songs like Bruce Springsteen and Hall & Oates. Where else can you get Miles Davis, Run-DMC, & Ringo Starr on the same song? 😄Another multi-artist song out around the same time is "King Holiday" by King Dream Chorus & Holiday Crew. There's also the all female "Theme From Panther" from the early 1995. There's a few different version of "Panther", like an all singers, an all rappers, & a mixed version.
@Brad&Lex if you pause around the 5:30 mark, the guy with the glasses is Dan Akroyd. He just happened to be in the studio for something else, and they asked him to be in it.
So funny. You got almost everyone. Darryl was Darryl Hall of Hall and Oates. You came close on Dionne Warwick, and think you recognized Huey Lewis but could not grab the name. You saw Harry Belafonte and Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac in the crowd. You didn't know Jeffrey Osborne or Al Jarreau or Kim Carnes (did you do Bette Davis Eyes?), and didn't mention Bette Midler in the crowd.
Hi Brad and Lex. I'm looking down the comments and I can't see anybody mentioning the song that started this whole thing the year before in 1984. This song here was just when the USA jumped onto the bandwagon. You really should check out 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' by Band Aid and see how many famous UK artists you recognise. That one was put together by Bob Geldof of The Boomtown Rats and Midge Ure of Ultravox. They also got their American friends involved and they mainly put together the massive Live Aid concert in 1985. Æx 🙏
You did really well. Some you missed from the beginning first: Yes Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Yes Willie Nelson, yes Kenny Loggins, Darryl Hall, Huey Lewis, Kim Carnes, John Oates, Kim Carnes sang Betty Davis eyes she is the blonde next to Cyndi Lauper
Poor James Ingram. 🙏🏼 He really was popular. I personally liked his duet with Patti Austin "Baby, Come To Me".
I liked "Yah Mo B There" with Michael McDonald
Just Once
"One Hundred Ways."
I know, right?
HA! He was the only one I didn't know!!

There was a album to.
@Brad&Lex if you pause around the 5:30 mark, the guy with the glasses is Dan Akroyd. He just happened to be in the studio for something else, and they asked him to be in it.
Your joy is contagious
Great enthusiasm…made me smile. Please do reactions for those you missed. By the way…happy mom, happy baby. Keep on reacting to music 🎶🎼🎵
I'm glad yall got more edumacated and came back
Heavy Metal artists also did a charity aid song kinda like this. It was called 'Hear 'n Aid' and the song was called "We are Stars". Check it out.
This was so much fun! I love watching you guys!
Really love watching you guys and Lex. You are adorable.
I was alive back then and i'm not half as good at recognizing these stars. Very impressive!!
That was exact thought. It's like a game and you're winning Lex! :D
I’m so glad you revisited this. I wanted you to know who they all were. Ha
Lex, that guy at the back is Harry Belafonte. He sang a beautiful song called Marys Boy Child way back.
the world need more of this
This is proof that they need to do an R&B stream. A couple of them!
For an additional 100pts.... Find an original "Ghost Buster!" 😆
I'm impressed that you (Lex) know most of the people considering that you look like in your late 20s or in your 30s
Next assignment Brad and Lex:
Bob Dylan: The Hurricane;
Diana Ross and the Supremes: Where Did Our Love Go (so many hits)
Love your guys reactions. Cheers✌️
Gotta do "do they even know it's Christmas 🎄"
Very good Lex. You are batting 900. So proud of you.
I don't think I've ever heard Lex laugh so much🤣. It's infectious af.
Æx 🙏
Steve Perry sounds insane 🔥🔥
Huey Lewis was the guy with Cyndi Lauper. All of The News were in the chorus.
You did really well. Some you missed from the beginning first:
Yes Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Yes Willie Nelson, yes Kenny Loggins, Darryl Hall, Huey Lewis, Kim Carnes,
John Oates, Kim Carnes sang Betty Davis eyes she is the blonde next to Cyndi Lauper
Oh. That was Harry Belafonte you asked towards the end beside Dan Aykroid who is Canadian. Thought it odd he snuck in there.
Huey Lewis and Kim Carnes…Dan Akroyd, for some reason.
Good job...almost got all. Still need to discover some of the soloist: Al Jareau, James Ingram, Huey Lewis, Dionne Warwick, Kim Carnes.
