In short: Vib Ribbon is rendered almost entirely from line segments, which the PS1's GPU supports in hardware. The shaking is applied in software, by randomly shifting the vertices that define the line segments.
Yoooo you're the most underrated creator so far. I am in love with your style. Found you by your Vib-ribbon Score video. Please do more I already shared your channel to all my friends who love vib-ribbon
Fascinating video, and nicely explained! It really is impressive how much work and creativity went into these older game to make the most of the limited hardware. Love the presentation style and the sense of humour, this channel is a hidden gem.
I just started playing the game after forgetting about it for 20 years. I was so mesmerized when I was 10 seeing this game but never got to play it till now. It is such a hidden masterpiece and so ahead of its time! Really awesome vid!!
Honestly a fantastic watch and an interesting deep dive in how the PS1 was even able to pull the Vextrex like vector style! It really does the Vib Ribbon/Playstation enthusiasts out there proud! Love the vector like visuals/presentation you did for the video btw.
hooooly balls man, this is an amazing video. your art is adorable, the narration and production value are insane and as someone who’s obsessed with this sort of graphical stuff, it was just a treat.
I love the amount of love behind the script that you dont show to educate (i appreciate the constraint), i honestly didnt expect to understand much from any of this as someone who has no clue about coding nor models, you're very good at explaining things I was looking for exactly this video and you somehow managed to give me more information than i needed, while not making me overwhelmed, while keeping me engaged it's not perfect but i seriously didnt expect this from a channel like this :DD (Also love the glaceon) (seems this isnt the best time to subscribe to the channel given the lack of.. anything, but im just writing this in hopes you can at least appreciate what you did make back then) (still love the glaceon)
While it wasnt the first wireframe game ever made (very old PCs of the 80s i think started to use it, and idk if the NES with a lot of optimization), i think Vib Ribbon may been the one that uses it for other purpose besides the limitations, and imo is the best looking wireframe game ever. Their sole existence makes me think if it would be possible to do the same and take advantage of modern technology to make something even more ambitious! More wireframe games! We had a GPU that can do that, but no one puts it to use! XD
Question for all of you Vib-Ribbon fans: Is she wearing a dress, or is that just her body? Especially with the context of what her little dimension IS, it’s hard to know for sure.
Vibri is a infinitely self-sustaining, non-reproducing, dimensionally phasing entity made of infinitely flat "string". For her, being naked or dressed is both meaningless and arbitrary. You cannot copulate with the unidimensional polyline rabbit.
Oh. i thought the jigglyness of the lines was due to there being no FPU in the system causing them to snap to the nearest point on an integer grid. nice to know tho
Although i think while that could be also the case, considering the game barely uses resources, the devs could had emulated a zbuffer and a more accurate polygon perspective through software, but they didnt. Much like how Crash took the low poly of the PS1 to make angular designs, Vib Ribbon seem to took the polygon imprecision of the PS1 as an artstyle, and thats very impressive.
0:31 Lies of deception. I play Iron Harvest in 13-1 FPS and able to beat Insane AI difficulty. Even the campaign too. Edit: I think your videos are great. You could get a better Mircophone in the future!
Cool video! I love technical stuff, especially on older game consoles, and I'm kinda obsessed with Vib-Ribbon right now! :P I was trying to check out the music credits, but I can't find some of them. Are they really niche? Do you have a direct link to them?
i have an auditory processing disorder and im wondering if it would be possible to add closed captions in the future ? if it's too much work that's okay

How’s it going? Haven’t been able to get it to run in an emulator
Is it done yet?

I read somewhere it’s a dress.
It seems to be both, I just can't imagine Vibri being nude.
