- In this video, we will install roof rack / crossbars from CarTrimHome for the 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023, and 2024 Toyota RAV4.
Crossbars are made of aluminum alloy and are shaped like a wing. This will minimize the noise and will have minimum impact on gas mileage.
The installation is very simple and should not take more than half an hour. All necessary tools come with the set.
Max Load Capacity - 160 lbs.

I appreciate the "it won't effect the drag, AS MUCH." Meaning, even nicely shaped as it is, it's a bit of drag, I want a quick release rack, for the 99.9% of the time I don't need the rack but want max mileage with '21 Prime.

Thanks for the video. My Rav has crossbars aready, but I'm thinking of removing them to see if wind noise is reduced. This video helps. Looks like I'll need those short black plastic covers to install on the roof rails after removing the crossbars.
By the way, those crossbars rattled when I first picked up the car. Apparently the installation bolts weren't tightened properly.
You should add some drops of medium (blue) threadlocker so the bolts don't get loose from vibrations

Just an FYI - I have a 2022 Rav4 most base model (LE 2WD Gas) and it has a bare roof. No rails, no inserts for rails, nothing for the crossbars to connect to. Ive been searching for some type of compatible system with the naked roof, but having lots of difficulty finding anything
My 2022 Rav4 didnt come with roof rails to mount the rack. Now I have to figure that out.
Hi, Great video! I just ordered the same bars for my 2021 Rav4 Limited Hybrid. One question: I noticed that you did not use thread locker, aren't you concerned that these may vibrate loose after numerous miles/potholes, etc?
Hi Bill. Thanks for your comment! You are right, it is a good idea to use the threadlocker in this case. Another option is to recheck the torque periodically.

Yes I do have the panoramic roof and the factory cross bars fit perfectly and do not affect the opening sun roof. Good luck!

Using threadlocker is really overdone! Most of all screw connections are save in case of using the right torque! The other side - most screw locks are scare locks. If a screw connection loosens by itself due to vibration, then it is incorrectly dimensioned. You can believe an old assembler 😁!
Please note that you have to tighten the screw connection by hand with a s m a l l screw wrench (Attention - after tight comes fast loose 😅!) Normaly the manufacturer of roof bars recommend about 5 ... 6 Nm for the screw connections. This is really not much!!! You can check it with a small torque wrench.
If you use the roof bars for a long time (for example in winter) then it is rather better you will put a small film of grease on the screw connection than you will use threadlocker. The most important possebility for the security of screw connections is the torque!
Threadlocker (like "Loctite" and so on ...) is for connections you will normally not unmount - for exmple a joint assembly on a garden chair. The most screw connections in the world which are provided for mounting and unmounting need grease and the right torque! That`s all ...

So why didn't Toyota leave openings along the side rails in order to put straps to hold a kayak down ?

I'm considering roof bike rack that can be locked to protect the bikes but with this rack a thief can easily disassemble it. Is there an anti-theft bolt and tool for it?
I lost the key, where can I get a new one?

When arrived it was very simple to adjust and put together. I also added spike tape over the metal hooks before securing and tightening the straps, and no scratches. I also purchased the top bar made by the same company so that my cruiser sits straight on the rack without having to turn upside down. Extra bungee cords are used to secure the front wheel from flapping and even piece of mind knowing your bike is secure. Definitely recommend...

Yep, I would check if they are tight enough.
My Rav4 simply has rubber strips running down the right and left, that's almost flush with the roof. So, I need the two bars fitted before I can install the roof rack. Is that possible?
Mine doesn't even have the rubber, I'm looking into installing what's called "roof rails" thats that part he installed the crossbars onto. Not sure if its going to work and I dont like the fact that I'll have to drill holes straight through my vehicle.
So the max load capacity is 160lbs but Toyota says the roof weight limit is 101.9lbs. Does that mean you can only put 101.9lbs on the roof even with the crossbars?
Please search Dynamic Weight vs Static Weight. You will get the answer yourself. Should be OK to take more weight.
Is it easy to install/uninstall as needed without damaging anything? I see only needing these a couple times a year.
Yes, once they are fully assembled, you can easily remove and install them within minutes.

No, you can't move it back.
Why dont use OEM Toyota Crossbars?
You can. OEM products are usually more pricey. This is a cheaper alternative.

@@akalongman OEM parts by default provide the best quality. Aftermarket parts most of the time are fine but sometimes there can be issues. As for the crossbars shown in the video, we never had any problems with them.

My moonroof is leaking during the rain. Do You have moonroof?
Yes we do. Our moonroof does not leak. I would try to see if the drain tubes in the moonroof are clogged.
@MorozovAutomotive water just seepage beetwen rubber sealent on moonroof and metal roof. It's dropping in c-chanel, probably It's drainage

@@henribrillon4240 No my LE did not have those factory mounting points. Had to go with a u universal rack off Amazon. Managed to get three kayaks 600 miles up state.

No, it does not.
How do you get the covers off
There is a lock that holds it in place. Unlock it and remove the cover.
