    ACO Presents Julia Bloom:

    Julia Bloom lives and works in Washington, DC. She studied piano and composition at Berklee College of Music, and visual art at the Boston Museum School and Maryland Institute College of Art. Her work includes
    painting, sculpture, and drawing.
    In 2020, she started making drawings using a manual typewriter, combining lines of text, typed stream-of-consciousness along with other media- charcoal, gouache, and pastel. Selected exhibitions include Permission Slips at Addison/Ripley Fine Art and Inside Outside, Upside Down Invitational Juried Show at The Phillips Collection in Washington, DC; Micro-Monuments, a traveling exhibition at the Salzland Museum in Schoenebeck, Germany and the Harvard Center for Hellenic Studies in Washington, DC; and Sculpture Now 2014 at the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center, Washington, DC.
    Five of her drawings are on exhibit at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in Washington, DC. Bloom’s work is included in the collections of the District of Columbia Art
    Bank and The Wilson Building Art Collection, Washington, DC among other private and public collections.
    She is a recipient of the Artist Fellowship Grant from the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities, Washington, DC (2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2014). She has been awarded seven fellowships at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Bloom’s studio is at Off the Beaten Track in NE DC and she is represented by Addison Ripley Fine Art. Additionally, Bloom is the director and curator of Freight Gallery, an alternative micro-exhibition space in a historic freight elevator in Washington, DC.
