Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Won't you please let me go
These words lie inside, they hurt me so
And I'm not the kind that likes to tell you
Just what I want to do
I'm not the kind that needs to tell you
Just what you want me to
[Verse 2]
I saw you this morning
I thought that you might like to know
I received your message in full a few days ago
I understood every word that it said
And now that I've actually heard it
You're going to regret
[Verse 3]
And I'm not the kind that likes to tell you
Just what you want me to
You're not the kind that needs to tell me
About the birds and the bees
[Instrumental Break]
[Verse 4]
Do you find this happens all the time
Crucial point one day becomes a crime
And I'm not the kind that likes to tell you
Just what I want to do
I'm not the kind that needs to tell you
[Outro]
I've lost you
I've lost you
I've lost you
I've lost you
I've lost you
I've lost you
I've lost you
I've lost you
I've lost you
I've lost you
I've lost you
I've lost you
I've lost you
I've lost you
I've lost you

drake need to listen to this
Who?
😂
F**k Yeah!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why.
the thing I love about this song is that it has a timeless vibe to it, it could’ve been released today and I wouldn’t tell a difference
Yes good songs be like that.
Right? I heard this in a bar a few nights ago and thought it was something from the 2010s. Great song!
True
Nah, today there would be no real drums, the vox would be autotuned, it would have an overused chord sequence, and the lyric would be inspid.
What year did this song come out? Anyone
All Joy Division and New Order music is so far ahead of its time!
And Bauhaus?
So agree! Grew up with it, amazing when I heard it then, nothing like it since!
yes, yes it was.
@@twatts1523 bauhaus?
It sounds timeless
The record reminds me of being accompanied by warmth when I was an awkward 17 year old, as if this band was my only friend in the world. The video reminds me of heroin withdrawals 17 years later in my mid 30's. Now I am in my mid 50's and at peace with God, the loneliness and restlessness gone forever. For me, New Order are the greatest band of all time.
exactly.
Yep
@@tubesurf17 praying for you specifically.

Good for you.. in my early30’s going through it now.
Yes!
This song never gets old.
Aaaa
Doesn't that mean it never gets age of consent?
The point of the song, keep dancing!!
BEST !!!
Nopey nope
It's almost 2021 and not many bands have managed to fuse electronics and guitars as well as New Order did in the early to mid 80's. A beautiful marriage of cool precision and warm emotions.
You should listen to lcd soundsystem, more of a modern band snd they are on par for sure for me
@@jamesmonks3799 Yes, they're very good, probably one of the few bands that have managed to do something similar what New Order were originally doing successfully. Yet, there's still something about NO that remains a cut above everyone else for me.
fantástico o melhor
@@jamesmonks3799 no, they aren’t. They are forgettable hipster pablum. (LCD)
The Strokes
Age Of Consent is one of those songs that never needed visuals, those should remain in the mind of the listener.
Absolutely right. Everyone has the one they lost, and it's individual.
you couldnt be more right
Well said :)))
Probably my favorite bassline of all time
Perfect Kiss
@@jeffblack5024 I think the perfect kiss bass line is even better than this song.
Hook just… wow. Legendary
MDC "John Wayne was a nazi"
What really makes New Order stand apart from so many other bands regardless of genre is that often the bassline for all intents and purposes, served as lead guitar.
If you’re in your 50s you’re lucky to have heard NEW ORDER in the 80s and you’re still alive to enjoy them again today.
I'm 60 and blasting this out as I type. Will still be until I die 😏
Words of truth
I am old and my hip hurts.
Dang I'm 75 and still loving them
I ran over my New Order records with my Stairmaster. Getting old is not lucky
I feel very privileged to have been a teenager growing up in 1980s. I still have all New Order vinyls and seen them several times. Unique and brilliant band. No fabrication, just musical talent.
I still listen today to new order and many other bands from that Era.
Likewise Bro!
I wish I was y
I'm so fascinated by the 1980s in particular, I just wish I could've experienced growing up back then.

Was a good time, the world has changed so much since then and not all the changes are for the better.
This song was on the radio when I was on my way to the airport to get on the plane that took me to the very beginning of a 30+ year career in the US Army.
That’s bad ass because i wanted to listen to it at takeoff lol 😂

Been listening to this song for a while and just found out it was released in 1983, that is incredible how timeless this is.
Wow I heard this in GTA 5 and thought it was released sometime in the 2010s damn
Music is not the same nor will it ever be the same as it was then...It will take mountains and oceans and rivers and the sky and the sea and the earth and all the planets would have to align...
The synth at 1:40 is so beautiful
The best
I listened to this song every time I was heading to work at 5:30am. I don’t know why, just the feeling it gave me. The song wasn’t too loud for the morning, and the flow of it kinda got me ready for the shift and day. Thanks for the morning mood booster and memory lane trip
The underlying sadness and desperation really makes this video. It's got heart!
I wonder how my life would have turned out had I discovered this genre in my teens. Only late in my 20s did I discover this in my life. I was lost, this was the beginning of me finding myself. It’s been a slow progress but songs like this has, surely, helped me along the way… thank god for good, beautiful music 🙏🏼
Seems you're not alone and that a lot of people feel this way. Personally, I'm a late New Order bloomer, so these songs had more of an effect later in life than in my teens....
I'm with ya on that. I discovered this not too long ago.
This has a good beat to it.
growing up in the 80’s…such an amazing time in human history.
AMEN!
Toxic relationship withdrawal…it feels like that, like an addiction that is really hard to kick. This video is brilliant. The sadness of having to let go, she portrays that depression really well. I know because I’m going through that.

Stephen Morris is my favorite drummer of all time!
dude. That precision. Ahhhhhh
Seriously underrated drummer!
He is a beast, pure perfection

described by many as the human metronome
I was never a New Order fan. But every gal I've had since the mid 80s has been. So, I've wound up seeing New Order live over the course of my life more than any other band. Now I feel lucky.
Well that is very validating for me in a way.
New Order, one of my all time favorite bands......to me Peter Hook one of the BEST ALLTIME bass players. I can't imagine NEW ORDER trying to play without him.....his talent and presence is the driving force behind the music.
Agree. Too bad they had a falling out.
Some music videos will never capture what the song really makes you feel. This song makes me think summer days, the bittersweet ending of a relationship and night drives
Can't get enough of New Order's music.
Nobody will ever reach this level of new wave masterpiece...and i mean the whole album
I’m a big fan of Depeche Mode as a new wave icon as well.
Power, Corruption and Lies is easily a favorite 80’s album.
@@twatts1523...dM🔥🔥🔥🎶🎵
New Order is timeless, but sometimes it's sad when you let yourself read the comments...huge debate over the meaning? Who cares. It means different things to different people, as art and music can and should. I watched it and thought tough breakup and at the end she's dancing it out. Yeah, that can be a thing, you're sad and depressed and realize you just need to do something fun...that helps you get over it and you start moving on. Anyway, that was what I got from the dance at the end, and don't really care if I'm officially right or wrong. Gen X is the whatever generation so pretty sure New Order's take on what meaning you find in this is just that.
True.
Bernard once said "The more mysterious the lyrics, the more autobiographical the song is.".
Joy Division~ Hey! ❤🔥
Music to eat your chips to.
... FINALLY 28 years later there’s a video for this marvel of angel strings & Hook’ys bass ... and in Boston on my birthday this year ... 🎵🙏🏻⭐️
stephen morris' sense of timing might be the only example of perfection you'll find in this world.
High school finished and just about to start Uni, dressed all in black, this song comes on in the U4 in Vienna and I feel like it should never end. Man, if I could go back...
This was always my favorite New Order song. Not particularly close, either. The bass just DRIVES.
Hooky only started playing the bass like that, an octave higher, because in the early days they had really crappy amps 😁
you can hear the soul of joy division and ian curtis if you listen carefully
Almost two years ago this song & group got me through a rough time in my life I’m so glad I can listen to them now & reflect on those times & cherish my growth. 🙌
stay on your path & better days will come don’t give up on yourself.
Glad you decided to stick around. I can relate to music saving lives.
New Order has been doing what you described since 1981! Amazing how this band can be your friend no matter how old you are.
Oh my, I love this. All those years ago I once DJ'D at a club and I had the 12" single of Age Of Consent, it was my weapon of choice to fill the dance floor, and it worked....Every.Time. It also proved to be effective against the clubs manager who wanted more 'conventional' muzak...Ha! Over the years through moves and just life in general I lost my record collection, but the music lives on in my heart as it should.
One of my absolute 80's favorites.......this song just gets off..........play it loud and often
looks like those joy division videos, archive footage would’ve been better, still this is an amazing song and timeless
what videos?
sorry, i dont follow them enough to know what they are
@@andyg3 when unknown pleasures was re released for its 40tn anniversary they released these terrible reimagined videos that had no relation to the song, and that’s why this ones very similar to the JD videos

@@TheTespin you could say it’s a Division of Joy Division
Actually, I think this much better than those cringey JD "re-imaginings".
This song has been my favorite for years. Happy vibes of teenage rebellion when the air felt different on your skin 🥰
I don't think I've ever heard a song benefit more from a remastering! I've listened to this song 1001 times, several times. this sounds so much better!
I love New orders Word choices. They don't choose bland rhyhimg words that mean nothing. They just go raw and sing straight from the heart
So good. There is something so distinct about music from this era that has been lost
I heard this song for the first time at a bank a little while ago. They were playing all eighties music with that pop/punk/nu-wave/rock sound. I picked a good bank. - small, cool.
I rediscovered New Order after forgetting about them. I'm 55 years old and I grew up in the '80s and even though I'm a heavy metal fan, it's always been The Cure in New Order that have always listened to that brings me back to a better time when I was just a teenager
This album is perfection. Ageless ❤️
yes almost 40 years ageless.
This song is sadder with the lyrics and bass riff but puts me in a great mood. I love songs that do this to me.
Bernard is such an incredible guitarist. He always plays the perfect part
Growing up in the 80's, I was fortunate to be exposed to so many genres of music between my brothers and parents; some Long island stations played New Order and other bands (WLIR+ WDRE), and I will forever be grateful. 51 years old and I still love their music, totally unique.
No need to be upset about the a remake for such a great song! Great Video and Thank god for living through this one from New Order!
I grew up in the '80s and I don't remember this song but recently found it hearing it while shopping at Walmart LOL but love this video and love this song Love the guitars and the synthesizers
I'm glad that kids today enjoy these classics.
I go through phases where I can't stop listening to this, and I never really got into them back in the day, but something about it captures me and won't let go.
lovely mix - this song never gets old. Listened thrilled to it first back in '83(?) now on my ipod when i go running....energises me every time love it
This is literally how I actually sleep when I party too hard.
Also the girl in this video is LGBTQIA+ Coded and I love that for her we are the best.
Passing on the love, my daughter Tessa is singing this song with me. Tessa just told us her favorite Matt Mason is Unconditional.
This should be played every day on the radio it never gets old no matter how much you listen to it
Besides the superb music...the BMW CSi 3.0 from the 70s is the best in this video...my absolute favorite car when I was a kid. The boss of my father had such an coupe.
A video which in my opinion truly catches the melancolic but happy expression of Joy Division. It screams of wanting to live, even if one must suffer in between.
I'm pushing 60 and 80's music is the best
If you aren't automatically transported to the 80's when you this, then your not listening or never lived it!
Wow, this takes me back to High School in the mid 80s. Loved this song then and love it even more now for all the good memories it evokes.
I saw them in Austin last week and holy shit was it incredible. New Order is Manchester's finest.
Discovered the band couple of months ago. Just too good.
check out Joy Division mate
As a 52 year old, that blows my mind. Spent the 80s/90s listening to new order.
apenas diga?
I'm counting down the days🖤

the human metronome
A load of great memories whilst listening.
I’m old now. I was in high school and uni when joy divisions/new order were at their artistic peak (IMO), not their popularity peak. That came later. Hated that World Cup nonsense. Anyway, I wore out the VHS tape of their concert at Taris Shevchenko I watched it so many times. If you don’t know what I’m talking about you must be young. Go find it. I beseech you. My brother sent me the link and I was dreading some kind of Blue Monday 88 treatment had befallen on of my favourite NO songs of all time. I’m pleased that they really did just remaster the song and added a video. Not what they would have done back then but it’s not horrible. The video is relevant to today, which is fine. If this will make this song and my beloved band from my youth relevant to this present, lost generation, I approve. God we had fun in the 80’s. And we had such wide and varied tastes....
No that's a good video the concert at the Ukrainian Hall in NYC
Song is unforgettable and a classic. Reimagined video of a heroin addict going through withdrawal...not so much
Looks like she’s going through some toxic relationship & they don’t want to let eachother go… that’s what i got from it
Been hearing what these guys did since the first band till new order for years, i just heard this song today, it's so brilliant how i didn't heard it before, sonic youth based it's hole career on this song
Song reminds me of skating through SF streets. Good memories.
I think everyone needs to calm down. The fact that, in 2020/2021, we're getting re-interpretations of some of the best New Order music ever is just a super fortunate position to be in. Outside of what your expectations might have been, the video is pretty fucking cool (in the "just awesome" way and the artistic way), and in my opinion, fits the music beautifully - and the remaster sounds FANTASTIC. Just enjoy this.
Perfect way to finish 2020 and a Perfect way to start from scratch in 2021. Happy holidays to everyone, things will get better 🙏🙏🙏
Loved hearing this on GTA 5 radio. Defiantly good vibes in this jammer.
Just a brilliant bass line, thanks again,Hooky.

Loving this more now than in the 80's dam wished would have seen them in concert
On a Sunday in February, I was driving my 996 and the extended remix of this song came on. I made the normal 15 minute drive in just enough time to pull in before the song ended. Great music can stir great driving!

Maybe not the best comment to leave about a song about uh ... ahem.
This could be an indie song from the 2010s, lol. Way ahead of it’s time.
One of their greats. ❤
Video is really cool, love the progression from small spasmodic movements during sleep to frenesic dance on an kind of abandonned parking lot. The song in itself , a timeless materpiece.

This is a nice, unexpected surprise. It can be really hard to make a new video for an older song and do it justice, but the simple, yet stylish technique works well.
