I agree Srijan! I definitely been pushing myself on cooking more nowadays 😁
I have made these before with vanilla beans, because I could never find the vanilla bean paste, but gonna order from Amazon like you and try your recipe. Love your channel, and thanks for sharing. Stay safe, and God bless you

I'm so glad to hear that you made them and you liked them!!! 😁💖 Hehe aww sorry, I get hungry when watching youtube videos as well 😅
😋🤤 never had one before but will have to try making them myself since its probably easier making it then buying them.
Sweetness for quarantine, just perfect 😊
Yes indeed! Hope you are doing great and baking lots of goodies during this time 😊🍪
I have to thank you Lydia for this recipe. :) This has become an absolute favorite for our family. I frequently do afternoon teas for friends (as I am originally from Britain), and this recipe is the jackpot!! You also explain everything very well. Best scone I have ever made. (And the vanilla paste is AMAZING). These are INFINITELY better than the Starbucks version. You can 'toot your horn' any time!! Thank you, thank you! :)
Hi Sharon, thank you so much for your sweet comment! ❤️🤗 Afternoon tea sounds like such a fun British tradition and I love that this recipe is part of your afternoon teas with your friends, thank you for sharing! Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! 💖
@@LydiaApril Just wanted to let you know that your videos bless others long after you have put them up! Hope you had a lovely weekend also :)

U r really doing hardwork. I'm watching since u were at 100+ subs. U remember?
I have yet to eat or make a scone but that really does look delicious!! I'll have to try it out sometime😁😊
Kelley!!!! 🤗 I hope you make scones at home, they are soooo much better! The store bought ones don't even compare, at least in my experience 💖💖☺
@@LydiaApril Aw I'll have to remember that!😊 Tho baking rather than buying baked goods is the norm around here😊😅
I like to hear that! 😊😁Hope you and your family are all staying safe and are healthy! God bless you! 💜
Those look delicious Lydia! Not that I have anything to compare them to. I never go to Starbucks. 😆
Byyyee!😉🤣
Right now, there is a lonely starbucks guy dreaming about the #HotSconeGirl he talked to in the drive thru hoping she comes back one day. lol
Just baked it today. My husband loves it! Thank you for the recipe, Lydia!
Looks delicious! I’d love to try them. No written recipe?
OK. During these lock down periods, you realize you could get rich mailing these lovelies out, right Lyds? lol Why did I wait til 9:30 pm to watch this? Looks great!
Take care and stay safe,
Rob
Haha I would never! 🤣
Thanks Rob, food is fun to make and all but just for Eugene and I LOL
They need more glaze it's soooo good!!
Found my Weekend project
Wow! Thanks for sharing your recipe and your little story Lydia! Starbucks scones are pretty tasty. I used to get a blueberry one to go with my strawberry frappachino when I went there a lot. Hey, maybe you should do a SB frappachino as a DIY recipe. I could see why that kid would flirt with you. You're very beautiful. Just saying. Have a great rest of your week my lovely friend and be well and safe.
Thanks Ed, hope you had a wonderful weekend! I've never had the blueberry scone but I will once it's safe again 😁
Believe it or not, I've thought about recreating the SB frappuccino and the vanilla one, haven't gotten around to it but hopefully those are recipes for the future 😄
@@LydiaApril Looking forward to them, Lydia! I really enjoy your channel and your lovely self every week. Be well and safe as always. Prayers for this crazy virus to pass us over and for everyone's safety, health, and well being. xo
What is 3/4 cup butter? What is the exact weight? Thanks!
Can you tell me how you would adjust this recipe for high altitude?
You got game 😂
Vanilla is so expensive because takes years for the vine to mature and the flowers only bloom for one day a year.
Great video tho.
I had no idea, thanks for that info Alex. I'll blame the price being raised so much on supple and demand. Guess I'll have to be super mindful when I use vanilla now 😁 I'll think of the flowers that only blooms once a year for a day and feel bad if I use too much.
Hope you are still stay well!
Hello, I love your channel. I was wondering if you could do another Starbucks copycat video . I love them. Thank you!!
Hi Zoey, thank you! I have a Starbucks copycat playlist when I put all my recreation recipes 🤗
BTW, big typhoon wiped out the vanilla crop in Madagascar a while back. So the price went up about 140%. This info per Cook’s Country Kitchen on PBS😉
I switched from vanilla extract to vanilla bean paste a while ago and I know what you mean about the price. King Arthur sells it for $24.95 for a 4 oz. jar, so the equivalent of your 32 oz. container would be $200!
Ouch, that is way too pricey! I wonder if the prices will ever go back down again...
@@LydiaApril Quick question: In your recipe, it says 2.5 cups of AP flour. As a life-long bread baker (for 30+ years lol), I always measure by weight, so when I looked at the recipe, it says the AP flour weight is 232 grams, making your conversion factor to be 1 cup AP flour = 92 grams (232/2.5 = 92) This seems just a bit light to me. I normally use 1 cup AP Flour = 125 grams. This would make the weight of 2.5 cups AP flour as 313 grams. Any thoughts?
fyi: Here is the site I use for my measure to weight conversions: www.thecalculatorsite.com/cooking/cooking-calculator.php
Hey Karl, no you are probably right... I was trying to measure by weight for those that are not in America but I think the website I was using wasn't doing a great job and I probably wrote the wrong grams down. Thanks for bring that to my attention, I deleted the weight measurements so nobody would get confused. Sorry for the confusion.
Take a shot each time she talks about the vanilla bean paste
I think most of the vanilla bean is grown in Madagascar and the plant is finicky to grow on top of recent harsh weather conditions…causing less crop and more pricy vb plants….I LOVE vanilla bean but it’s so expensive…side note you guys should try Starbucks’s Madagascar vanilla at home coffee from found in grocery stores it’s sooooo good :3
That makes sense, hopefully someday it will be more affordable somehow 😁 I'll look into that coffee, thank you for the recommendation!
2.5 c. of ap flour = 232 g.?
Am I misunderstanding something? Anyone please clarify me.
Ps. I did it in grams and it turned out so rich and yummy. Thanks a lot.
What if we don’t have a food processor?
Hi Gabriela, you can make them by hand using a pastry blender or a fork. I just used the food processor because it's faster 😊
I really want to make these because I have all the ingredients but im hesitant to make them since i dont have a food processor.
Update: Made these on Friday and they were amazing!
You can totally do it without a food processor, use a fork or two to get the butter cut in and all the ingredients incorporate 😊💗
Really!? Omg thank you!! I was so sad but now I’m for sure going to do it, your recipe looks so easy! 😭💕
No problem! I used the food processor just for ease, they should come together no problem if you're using the fork ☺💗 I hope you love them as much we did! Stay safe girly!
Is there an alternative to the vanilla bean paste?
Lydia April Would we use the same amount of vanilla extract as you did with the paste?
Lydia April would it still taste the same ?? Also can we pulse it in a ninja LOL
I think I might be making this now. But I will be using vanilla extract, which is frequently out of stock since the lock down.
Not even about to wait forever for Amazon to ship my order for another item. I made an order first of April that did not ship until the last day of April. Now waiting for another order placed on 13th. Many people are shopping online while stuck at home and it beats long lines at the local stores. But no more fast or reasonable delivery, even for prime members.
But I won't complain to Amazon as I don't want them to mistreat their employees though they make enough money to spend more taking care of their employees.
I frequently alter recipes for the ingredients on hand, or that I can acquire easily and quickly. And always limit limit Amazon orders to once a month, as much as possible.
Sad that Amazon has become a necessity. In these tough times.
Vanilla extract should work perfectly! 🙂
It really is unfortunate that so many things are out of stock and people are depending on Amazon for deliverys. Hope you and your family are doing well and staying safe! ❤
Hey can you give me the altered recipe with the vanilla extract please? 😅
Vanilla Bean paste is not expensive anymore.
Is it same calories or more unhealthy?
Thanks for the video👍 I suspect you get flirted with quite a bit😉
375 for professional result
until you talked about how he said bye to you, I was going to tell you that making connections and talking to the customers is the company policy...
Haha I was giving him the benefit of the doubt until he said bye as well lol 😆
The only thing i didn’t like about this recipe was the consistency of the scone. I really enjoy the Starbucks version because it’s soft and cakey wheres your recipe was more like a cookie...tasty but i prefer the other consistency
we want the recipe not your life story
After finishing up my big batch of homemade vanilla extract this summer, I found a recipe for vanilla bean paste. All you need are 30 vanilla beans, which I got for $23 off Amazon. I used the same beans I previously used to make my extract first. They are Tahitian beans, great quality. Of course vanilla extract & food grade vegetable glycerin which I got from iHerb. Blend together in blender or food processor until completely smooth. Strain into a mason jar. I had a big mason jar & it's completely filled with vanilla bean paste & you have to store it in the fridge. So $12 for the vegetable glycerin & $23 for the beans. My big jar of vanilla bean paste came to $35 dollars compared to $200+ from what I saw online. Making your own extract is a hell of a lot cheaper & better quality. Plus it only takes 10-12 weeks. I made amy big batch over the summer so it would be ready for fall & winter baking. So I'm set.
